Wolf trudged along in the snow the wind pounding against his face. His paws sank halfway into the snow and his pelt blended in with the blizzard. He felt groggy and sleepy, needed to lie down. He recalled the moment that he and his brother were first born into the world. He smiled. Wolf could almost make out his mother's milky scent. Unfortunatly, while he, his mother, and his brother were walking along on a hunting session, he got separated from the two. He tried to follow their scent, and, by the time he caught up to them, his paws were sore and the sky was dulling. They kept on walking, sniffing the ground and looking for him. After one more minute of tracking down his family, he collapsed and went to sleep. That was all Wolf could remember. Even though he had doubts about finding his family, a small glimmer of hope shimmered in his heart. He continued to travel for two more days and two more nights until finally, he scented pine. Wolf's heart pounded and his pace picked up. There must be shelter nearby! Wolf's paws were soon gliding across the snow and it was almost as if he was soaring. His tail blew in the wind and his tounge lolled out of his mouth. His blue eyes danced and glowed like the moon and stars. After following his nose, Wolf skidded to a stop in front of a forest. It looked spooky and there was something eerie about it. Birds didn't twitter or sing and the sounds of scuffling in the bushes wasn't heard. It was dead silent. Wolf because of lack of hunger and lack of sleep trudged into the woods. Darkness overlapped the trees and shadows crept out of their hiding places. Wolf gulped down his fears and trotted onward, trying to ignore the eeriness of this place. Wolf jumped back every now and then thinking that something was creeping up on him. Suddenly, he felt pressure on his back and his pupils rolled back into his head. The collassal body was suffacating him and was pressing him into the snow. Finally, after summoning all of his strength, Wolf flung the body of of him. The body rolled and hit a tree then just layed there. Wolf never knew that he was so strong. Slowly, the body's head lifted and sniffed the air. Wolf gulped and flattened his ears. The body which belonged to a wolf staggered onto it's paws and stumbled towards Wolf. "D-don't eat m-me." stammered Wolf. "I'm not going to eat you." chuckled the wolf. "Because I'm your brother." it's voice became serious and stern. Wolf frowned. "Come again?" The wolf chuckled. "Remember me?" it wondered. Wolf shook his head. "I'm Balto." it said. Wolf squinted. He couldn't quite remember any of his family members right now. The Balto wolf smiled and his brown eyes sparkled. "Come with me." he said beckoning with his tail. "We'll talk about this at my place."
Balto led Wolf through the woods and out into a snowy clearing. Wolf could see the ocean from there. The two walked for about five more minutes before stopping at a lopsided boat. Balto smiled proudly. "Ah, now that's my home!" he told Wolf with excitement. Wolf shrugged. 'Atleast it's better then living in the middle of a blizzard.' he thought. Balto led Wolf onto the boat and sat down. "First things first." Balto began. "Why were you wandering around in the woods?" Wolf shuffled his paws. "I was looking for a place to rest." Balto nodded. "Luckily, I smelled your fear." Wolf smiled and blushed. Wolf's ears suddenly pricked up. "Um, Balto? W-Where is m-m-mom?" stammered Wolf. He had hoped that Aniu, his mom would be living there. Balto lowered his head. "Mom died." he explained. "A hunter shot her." Wolf's hopeful face dulled. "Oh." he mumbled. Suddenly, his ears pricked up again. "What about dad?" he asked even more hopeful about this. Balto shook his head. "Dad never did show up." he said. "Oh." Wolf's extremely bright face dulled to a dull shade of gray. Balto was about to say something when two pups- a brown one and a red one- pounced onto Balto's head. Balto laughed. "These are my pups Jump," said Balto gesturing towards the red pup. "And Junior." he said gesturing towards the brown pup. Wolf nodded with half intrest. "Well you guys better run along home." Balto told the two. The pups nodded playfully and scampered off. Balto looked up at Wolf. "Any more questions?" he wondered. "No." Wolf said shaking his head. "I'm very tired and need some rest." he said settling down next to his brother. "Ok." Balto said. So, for the rest of the night, the two layed down, gazing up at the stars.
The next morning, Wolf woke up to the sounds of dogs barking in the distance. He slowly got up and peered over the side of the boat. He saw a sled with dogs hooked up to it. Wolf sighed when he realized that his brother, Balto, was leading the team. Then suddenly, he remembered what his mom had said: "Never walk a dog's path." Wolf knew what that ment. It ment never live like a dog. Wolf didn't know why his mother had said this because his father was probably part dog. Then Wolf thought a terrible thought: Has his own brother betrayed the ways of the wolves? This terrible thought clung to his mind like a suction cup. He couldn't believe it! Balto seemed to nice and caring and... Wolf then cleared his mind and stomped off of the boat. His life was running so nicely since he came here and Balto had to ruin it. Suddenly, Wolf thought another terrible thought: What if a pack of wolves saw his brother? They would kill him for sure... "Good morning Wolf." Balto greeted walking up to his brother and panting from the long run. Wolf let out a high-pitched yowl then darted off. He ran and ran then stopped for a breath. He was back in the woods. And it was even more eerie then before. Suddenly, there was a loud BANG and Wolf's body sank to the ground.
The End.
