Wolf’s Eyes

By Aljan Darkmoon 2008

From puphood, they are fragile and innocent

Taking in everything

Movements…motion…actions

They are the color of a cloudless sky: blue

Thus it remains so until the pups’ are of age

As they grow, they first see their parents, strong and dominant

They see the cave dark and ever growing

Then they see light at the end of the tunnel

Now their eyes change as sunlight pours upon them

A world of grass, wood, earth, and life surrounds them

They look around in awe at the beauty as they begin to explore

Sometimes wrestling to show their strength

Days go by and so do weeks

Fur lengthens, senses sharpen, eyes change

No more are the pups’ eyes blue

They are yellow…wolf’s eyes

Though no longer pups

And now full grown

The pups remain within

Until the end of time comes and stars fall from the heavens
