The next Toby has arrived. Another great story to blow you away. Will it become a dream come true? or will it turn into a nightmear? Luna's life is at risk will she pull thorugh or will fate get the better of her.With the stunning writing of Dragon Tamer we present to you. Toby.
Director: Hello, welcome to Toby Confidential. We go behind the scenes of the great Toby adventre, we all was suprised when Luna had pups. Ohh was that a spoiler?
We spoke to Dragon Tamer to find out why he decided to proove te vet wrong. This was exactly what Dragon Tamer said about the other Toby series and after we will get the information about what he said about this exact Toby.
Here is what he said:
So, explain to us your story of your success with Toby. I mean how did you make Toby such a big success?
Dragon Tamer: Well, I think the reason the Toby series is such a success is because I made an effort to make each story speak to people in some way. If you look at classic literature closely, you'll notice that it always touches on some key point of the human condition. That's what I try to do with my stories. For example, Toby Part One shows Toby's desire to be a hero, something I think all young people have. I know I did. So I put that into the story, leading in time to the point that everyone can be a hero in one way or another, as shown ultimately in Toby Part Three when he put away his dreams of reckless adventure in order to be a pet to Charlie Winters. In its own right, that one act was more heroic than anything else he ever had done or ever would do. Also, I make my characters real. They all have problems, be they ancestral (as in the case of Luna), physical (Toby, Luna, and Rex), social (as with Toby's ongoing problems with Pete), or even mental (Toby, case in point). I designed my stories and characters to be real, and I wrote them to be true on a very deep level. I try to make something people will have fun while they're reading, and then come away feeling really deeply effected. The stories are fun for the moment and for the long haul, which really makes all the difference.
Another key to my success is having good help. During my time in high school, before the Toby series was even written, my Language Arts teacher took a special interest in me and began encouraging me to develop my writing. She would ask to see stories I had written, which contained the roots of the Toby series even though they were primarily about dragons, and she would tell me in great detail how to take good stories and turn them into great stories. She didn't sugar-coat much; if something stank, she said it straight-out. Then, too, I read the stuff I write to my mom and my brother as a way to see how readers will react and, at the same time, go over it myself to spot mistakes. And last but not least, there are redwolf03's fanfics on this site, which I used as a sort of springboard from which to develop my stories. By giving her permission for this and her advice on various key points, redwolf has really been a big help to me on Balto Source.
Who inspierd you to write the fan fics? I mean we all need someone to inspire us so who ensired you?
Dragon tamer: Well, each story has its own origin, but in some sense they are inspired by practically everything I've ever watched, listened to, or read. From the classics I grew up with like Walt Disney and C.S. Lewis, to a poster in a chiropractor's office (no joke, I'd swear to it in court), virtually everything that's gone into my head has been put into these stories. The main characters, as I said, somewhat evolved from dragon characters in the stories I showed to my teacher. Sometime after I came across Balto Source and became interested in redwolf03's stories, I began to think to myself what would happen if I made my dragons into dogs. As I built off of that, I began to think of other things and eventually found these stories going places where my dragons never would go, or even could go. By taking principle themes to which I've always held a strong commitment, building on those with whatever ideas came out of my twisted mind, and carefully refining the results on every detail, I came out with the stories that so many readers have since enjoyed.
Out of all the Toby characters witch one is most like you?
Dragon Tamer: I know some readers will think this is completely predictable, but I think Toby is the most like me. I would even go so far as to say that Toby is me in canine form. To start off he's an idiot, and I mean that in the most caring way there is. He does stuff that no sane person, not even most lunatics, would do. Biting some guy ten times his size on the tail (even I'm not that crazy) to tangling with grizzly bears when he's barely strong enough to move, Toby has always been a dog of action who uses sheer brainless courage to make up for what his intelligence can't handle.
Tying closely to this, he's got a terminal case of hero worship. When I was a kid, I did stuff I saw done by others. I would run around with a sheet tied around my neck playing Superman, use bedsheets to "parachute" from the top bunk, and once when I was mad at a friend I actually charged him with my head like one of those bone-head dinosaurs. Needless to say, I also spent some time in the hospital, but to this day I often think back on things I've seen and dream about doing them (on a stroll through New York City, I even find myself scanning the skyscrapers and mapping out a route for web-swinging like Spiderman). But as you see, I have essentially taken those points and melded them into the character of Toby, a dog who imagines the impossible, lives for insanity, and always remembers stunts, but not crash helmets.
Lastly, he has very strong faith (I'll try not to get religious here, but it's gotta be said). He believes in what's right, he believes in hope, and that's what always ultimately pulls him through when nothing else can.
Well, that is what he told us about the Toby adventure stories. But here is what he said about Toby 12.
What gave you the idea to make Luna pregnant and proove the vet wrong? I mean because in the recent Interview (Part 1) she couldn't have pups. But she called in and said that she was "Under the weather" and up come the pups. Happy Ending's. So anyway what made you decide to do somthing like that?
Well, I actually intended all along for Toby and Luna to become parents eventually. Making Luna barren (or seemingly so) came to me sometime later. It was inspired, I think, by a story of another couple (very famous) who were physicaly unable to have kids, but they tried anyway and succeeded even though by the time in question their age alone would have normally ruled it out. In other words, Toby and Luna's pups are in a sense a miracle litter (making it no suprise they came along at Christmas). Without Luna's affliction, the event would have been nothing but a predictable development of their story. With Luna's injury, however, it became something much more.
Why did you decide to make Arrow feel un-wanted when Luna was pregnant? I mean it's just like in "All Dogs Go To Heaven 2: Charlie's new adventure." when David's step mother becomes pregnant and he run away.
What would you do if you was in Toby's paws in that issue, what would you do and act? Put yourself in Luna's shoes and tell me how you could feel about this pup problem or if it is a pup problem to her? Why didn't you split these up like in wilderness hunt? Imean wouldn;t it be better if you left us hanging with us gasping for breath if you know what i mean. Director: Ok thank you. We are now really going to talk to Toby and Luna's actor's. Pete and Rosey. So Rosey, what is the sprit around the place. Rosey: Well it is very good, i must say. Pete is always complain'ing about the lights. Director: Ok, what is wrong with the lights? all you have to do is speak through a microphone, Because It Is Animated! (He Yelled playfully). Pete: Ok chill out. It can become very moody around the place, if we have had a bad day. But most of the time it is brilliant we have a good play about and well we just love it. Director: Ok here is what Arrow had to say. Mark (Arrow): Well, i did star in a few other stories but i've never felt more at home with this crew.So i would just like to say thank you to everyone working here, it would be a real shame that we wont be doing another one after the 13th. I'm going to attempt to be in more Stories but this is it really. I will most likely never have a feeling like this again. Director: Ok thank you Mark,it was my pleasure doing this with you. Toby Road Anthem Director: I know we already have produced a Toby Radio show but what is the harm on making another? And the anthem is very simler to my "Alaska Road Anthem" Song so please enjoy mine and Dragon Tamer's fan fics (All of the ones that are listed are just what i will send) So anyway here we are going to talk to Baltorocks123 about his fan fics. Interview'er: Ok i'm just going to ask you. Why did you want the rights to Toby? Conor (Baltorocks123): Well, I've always loved the Toby stories. I would of wished that i had written the Toby themselves. But it was my dream to be part of the cast and here i am. Interview'er: How did you get the role of being part of the Toby series? Conor: Well, i wanted to get a co-writer for my story "Life of a sled dog" and he PM'ed me see'ing if he could do it. So i said "Ok.". Than we just started to talk about this. But than a ligt bulb switched on on top of my head. I asked him wether i could write Toby stuff like this and he said yes. So we have been talking about Toby, Luna Exc Exc. And at the end i came (Or coming up with) 4 fan fics in my first 2-3 months being a part of the Toby cast. Interview'er: When did you find out about what is going to happen to Luna, when you first read the fan fic or did he tell you before the fan fic was sent on the site? Conor: He told me before. He asked me because he knew i was going to do a confidential, so. I said that i will not tell anyone about what is going to happen. In the end i completed the confidential way before Toby 12 came out. I just had it on standby ready to post. Interview'er: Do you honestly like the Toby series or do you just say that you dont? Please be very honest. Conor: Yes, i loved all the Toby series. My favourite Story was 12 with the second 10 and the third 11. But with the new one out now i must work hard on my Interview. Interview'er: Was you suprised when you found out that Luna was going to be pregnant? Conor: No, i always knew she was going to have pups in the end. I knew he couldn't resist making her pregnant. Thats Dragon Tamer i am talking about. But no, i was suprised that it was this early untill i found out that the 13th will be the lst. Director: That was Baltorocks123 talking to us before. We re now going to go behind the scenes of when they filmed (And recorded) The movie. Informer: It is the first day in filming and the gang are up for this. -You spot Mark doing a fish dance- The crew are ready for the first day back recording for this movie. Rosey: It is brilliant i mean working with the crew i am just suprised Kevin (Bacon) is not here for this shooting. Informer: As they enjoyed the party of meeting eachother again, they finerlly got down to business. The movie. Director: And action. -The crew was speaking the lines from when Arrow ran away- Informer: As you can see in their faces they are enjoy'ing there time. Director: With loads of hard work, it was the las day of filming. And what not, when Luna has her pups. Rosey: Ohh, i think this is going to be the hardest scene. I mean how am i susposed to do this? Informer: Well she done it what looked like with ease but after she said she is never doing somthing like that again. Screenshot: "Owwwwwww, ****" Informer: Well, they say it's hard to give birth, but what about the actors? Rosey: Mann, that was the hardest scene. It took 20-40 takes on it. Very hard. Pete: Ohh this has been fun and hard. We loved to be together and its just amazing. Mark: I've had a really great time, i've loved my time aswell. I just cant think of a better time for this than now. Pete: With the guys i just felt that i was home. My real home no longer feels like my home this dose. Mark: I don't know if i will be in Toby 13 or not i hope so, because i would love to say goodbye to the guys. Informer: Well that is what they had to say on set. But there was one more twist in the tail. Pete, hmmp... seriously was that Pete?
Well, yes that was from ADGH. Making Arrow feel unwanted was a step to make the story more believable to some of my readers, particularly older siblings or half-siblings. The initial inspiration came from David's misery over his stepmom's imminent baby in All Dogs Go to Heaven 2, but overall I think Arrow's part in the story will speak to many of my readers far more effectively.
As for what I would do if I were Toby in that situation, I like to think I would act more or less the same as he did (since in a sense, Toby is me), with the one difference of not being so ignorant of Arrow through the whole scenario.
As for Luna, I can't really say. As a man, I will never have a full grasp of how the female mind and emotions work. But taking a stab at it anyway, I think I would feel much the same as she did: surprised, excited, and in a word, blessed.
For one thing, time constraints and technical challenges. I won't go into detail here, but I only had a limited window of opportunity in which to get this story online. So the first reason is, not enough time to divide it. Then too, while there might have been some advantages to breaking off at a cliffhanger (as I did with Wilderness Hunt), I felt that this particular story would unltimately be better served by having it all as a whole to keep the flow going rather than build a dam to boost the tension
Jake: What? When i first got the script i was like... "Is this Pete or have i been given the role of another character? Like Toby?" I mean this was the problem, i was so shocked. But i'm glad to back with guys. They mean so much to me.
Informer: Ok anyway, how about i say goodbye to the cast. Enjoy re-watching the film... But now i'm afraid to say goodbye to you all.
