Chapter 2: Surving the Elements!

Khan hopped up on his paws and began scrambling out of the cave, He vigorously looked around for his friend Blizzard and Anna,

“BLIZZARD! ANNA!” Khan ran around vigorously searching everywhere for his friends.

But a voice spoke in his head, He forgot what he was doing and ran to get away from the fire. He ran as fast as his legs would carry him, his mother said that he should go to the nearest clan when something such as a fire came. The Conder creek clan as the nearest, they had a alliance with his clan. Only problem, the journey to them would takes days for a pup such as he. He ran until his legs ached, his chest pounding, scared and confused, he ran into a nearby cave, he layed down to rest for some time. Khan slowly drifted off to sleep. He woke with the sun setting, things seemd fine, but eyes staring at him! Khan jumped and backed away from these eyes.

“Who are you?” said an evil voice, it sounded like a wolverine to Khan. The frightend pup only shivered in fear of this larger animal.

“M, m, my, name?” Khan spoke in a scared voice, The wolverine growled,

“Did I stutter?” it said angered. Khan just stood tall and faced his fear of it.

“My name is Khan, I’m a timberwolf malamute hybrid. Who are you?” Khan growled, he had no intention of fighting them, but he feared them not. They admired his spirit, fearless, even for a pup, but foolish.

“Well we are wolverines that will make you our dinner.” They started cornering him.

“Well, you could try!” Khan got down and pounced, not at them, but over. He was able to land on it’s back, but before it could slash at him he bounded out of the cave and into the woods. He could hear the wolverines chasing him, and getting closer, He ran and ran until he couldn’t run anymore. His heart punded against his chest and his paws seemed to get sore by the second,

“You can’t run forever pup!” Yelled a wolverine running behind him. Khan ran and jumped into a small hole, his size only allowed him through the entrance. The wolverine’s tried to get him, sticking there claws in the hole to get him, but He bit them everytime. Finally the wolverines gave up and walked back home. Khan decided to stay here for awhile, He once again rested, But he was hungery, thirsty, and very tired, He didn’t sleep much and he was exausted form running. He used his strength to stand and he was able to somewhat limp to a river and get some water. He perked his ears and raised his head when he heard a whimpering sound, it sounded familiar, To familiar.  “Khan ran to the sound and saw Butch had survived! And he was laying on his side. Instead of being mean to him he felt sorry, he ran to his, half friend.

“Hey Butch!” Khan yipped happily, he was tired and hungery but was able to get to butch, “You ok buddy?” Butch only gave Khan a very scared look,

“Your gonna get your revenge aren’t you?” He seemd scared, Butch was very weal like Khan, Khan smiled and gave him a warm hug,

“I never did want revenge, just to be your friend.” Butch looked at him amazed!

“You could do the worst things to me! But you’d rather help?” For the first time Butch cryed on Khans shoulder, Khan hugged him brothely, “All this and you just forgive me? After I’ve only caused you pain?” Khan smiled,

“I can, Your like a brother to me.” Khan pulled away and stared his brother in the eye’s. He smiled, “You’re my best friend!” Butch smiled

“Thank you Khan.” Khan perked his ears, “Can you get to the cave over there?” he pointed to a small den he was in earlier, Butch nodded,

“I think I can.” Butch rose, before he went for the den he drank some water, he slowly made his way to the den, when he got in he collapsed on the floor. Khan spotted a rabbit and quickly got it, He started eating some until he remembered Butch, he brought the rabbit to him and set it down,

“Here ya go Butch!” Butch looked up at Khan and smiled,

“Thank you!” Butch took it and ate it happily, he didn’t eat it all, he gave some the Khan,

“You’re the only one between us strong enough to hunt, you’ll need this food for strength.” Khan nodded and saw the wisdom in his words, he took the rabbit and finished it.

“You can be wise when you want Butch. Very smart to!” Khan finished and wen’t back out to hunt, He ws able to get more rabbits and bring some back for breakfast. The winds started picking up,

“We have a blizzard coming, we gotta do something!” Butch said frantic,

“Calm down it will be ok! We’ll be fine.” Khan felt the winds blowing and chilled there little den, Khan looked at Butch and snuggled up against him,

“What are you doing?” Asked Butch, Khan looked at him,

“If we share our body heat we may live through this storm. Only by staying close.” Butch laughted,

“You’re the last wolf I thought I’d be doing something like this with.” Khan laughted,

“I thought the same.” He licked Butch to show a sign of freindship, Butch returned it and smiled. Both set the heads down near eachother and closed there eye’s, they soon fell asleep beside eachother. In time another pup appeared and ran in the den, She wasn’t very big and looked tired, She walked in and woke Khan up,

“Who are you?” Khan spoke in a friendly voice, this new pup looked scared, and cold. ”come lay by me. You’ll get warm soon enough” The pup didn’t wait for him to ask again. She ran to his side and  snuggled against him.

“Whats you name?” she asked and a jittery tone.

“My name’s Khan. Whats yours?” He smiled.

“Mines Kira.” She said in a sweet voice.

“How did you get here?” Asked Khan, he was intested in this new wolf pup,

“Two wolves named Anna and Blizzard brought me here.” She said.

“Anna and Blizzard! Where are they?” He got jumpy which made Kira a little frigtend of him. She whined some.

“There in a better place now. They we’re taken by the storm. I barely made it here.” Khan looked at his paws and cried for the lose of his friends. Kira came closer to him,

“I’m sorry for your friends.” She said, she licked his nose and snuggled up against him. Soon Khan cried himself to sleep and she drifted off into sleep as well.
