It was a nice, quiet evening. Everything was calm and nothing moved. The cave was dark, and little drops of water dripped down on Blaiz's paws. Blaiz thought about the day and what was going to happen. But he still had that strange feeling that something bad was comming twords him.

Blaiz sat at the end of his cave, and wondered when Erika, his mate, was coming back from Utah. They had been gone for almost 9 weeks now, and Blaiz started to worry about her. But he knew where she lived and knew her owner, so he thought it wasn't a real big deal. Erika was not like your average Husky. She was a thin, sparkled-eye girl with tons of love for Blaiz. Only Blaiz didn't know she loved him more than anyone else.

Blaiz walked over to Erika's house, and sniffed around. He picked up her scent, but she wasn't anywere in sight. She must be back by now, Blaiz thought to himself. But he wan't for sure. He walked over to the window, and actually saw Erika sleeping on the rug. Blaiz put his paws over the window, and just stared. A smile came along his face, and looked at her wonderful face.

He must have stood there for about 3 minutes before she woke up. She yawned and stretched and itched behind her ear once before she looked over at Blaiz. " BLAIZ!! " She jumped up to her feet, and ran twords the door. She unlatched the lock, and ran out twords him. Erika nuzzled Blaiz, and tears almost came down her face. " It's been so long scince i've seen you!! 9 weeks seems like a long time. " She muttred and stood back. " It has seemed forever scince i've seen you, and i'm glad your back. " Blaiz walked over to her and licked her on the cheek.

" Erika! Come on! We've got to go to the store! " A voice came from the house, and Erika looked back. " I've got to go, will you meet me tonight by the lake?" She asked in a hopfuly voice. " I sure will! " Blaiz replied. Erika ran into the house and Blaiz walked back into the forest for the afternoon.

Blaiz slowly walked into the forest and looked at the mountains. He hadn't gone into that area for a long time. He knew what it looked like up on the top though. His mother took him up there once he was old enough to travel on his own. But then that thought came to his mind. He hadn't seen his mother in months. She probably was still living in that old part of the forest.

Blaiz wwalked into his cave and sat down in the corner. Another cold night was coming before he knew it. And soon, it came. Blaiz was half asleep now, and watched the water drip into the little pond in the front of the cave. The clouds got even darker. But what he didn't know, was a terrifying storm was rolling in from the mountains.

The next moning, Blaiz woke to a startle. Dark clouds were still hovering over him, and the sun was barley peaking throught them. Blaiz stood up, and he looked twords the mountains were the storm was coming from. What a storm this must be, Blaiz thought.

Blaiz walked out of the cave into a part of the forest. Thunder rumbled the ground, and shook the trees, but Blaiz kept walking twords town. He finally got to the end of the forest were Erika lived. Blaiz walked over to the front were she was sitting by the pond.

" Why didn't you come last night? I waited for ever, and you never came. " Erika looked over at Blaiz. " I'm sorry, I was too tired to think. Anyway the storm is rolling in, and it doesn't look too good. I just wanted to come down here and tell you about it. " Blaiz glared at the clouds. " Well, thanks for coming before the storm hit. " Erika nuzzled Blaiz and sat back down. " I just don't want anything going wrong. " Blaiz said in a muttering voice.

The clouds finally came over the town, and the forest. Blaiz decided to run over to his mother's place before the storm hit. I'll see you later, Erika. I need to do something. " He started up a hill and watched the lightning strike in the distance. Thunder still rattled the bushes, and the tree's leaves fell from the branches. Another lighning bolt struck a tree next the Blaiz, and he jumped. Here it comes, he thought. A small drip of water came and landed on Blaiz's muzzle. He shook it off, and felt more pellet him. I better hurry, he thought again.

He finnaly came up to the last hill to climb, but out of nowhere came a strange scent. Something......is burning, he thought. Blaiz ran faster up the hill and his heart pumped harder. He finally made it up the hill, and couldn't beleive what he saw...

The whole part of the left forest was on fire! Blaiz's heart stopped, and he felt sweat run down his fur. He ran twords the trees that were far from the fire. The rain was still barley sprinkling down on him. But he didn't pay attention to it. Blaiz ran up twords the hill were his mother lived, and got to the top.......the whole area was covered in red-orange flames.

The heat was so intence, he could feel it about 100 feet away. " Mom!!" Blaiz called out hoping for a responce............nothing. He howled louder, but still nothing. Blaiz ran to the other side of the forest were the fire wasn't going to reach, for about a minute or so. He looked around at the forested area, but nothing was in sight. Nothing but burning trees and shrubs. More sweat came down from his fur, and felt the heat coming closer.

The flames were too high to see anything, and the only thing surrounding the forest was the large river. Too deep to swim in. Blaiz's only chance to get out of the burning area before he went with it, was to jump into it, and hope for the best.....

Blaiz jumped into it, and started to flow down it. A large log was there next to him, and he hung onto it. The river was flowing faster, and a large waterfall came into view. Blaiz tried to swim over to the edge, but missed it right as he came to the end of the river....and fell down the fall.

The next moning, Blaiz found himself on the side of a the river. The grass dried most of the water, but his fur was still damp. He got up and shook most of it off. " Where am I?" Blaiz questioned to himself. " Your about 2 miles from the town. " A voice came from the trees. Blaiz jumped and looked around. He saw nothing, but then a large white wolf came out of a den. " You took quite the fall there. " She said again.

" I guess I did...who are you?" " My name is Juska. What about you? " Juska replied. " I'm Blaiz. I was trying to escape from a deadly fire up on the top forest. " Blaiz muttred then shook off the rest of the water. " Did you live there? " Juska questioned. " No, I was trying to look for my m-" He stopped himself. Blaiz looked up at the burned trees up on the top of the waterfall.

Blaiz looked back at Juska, but lowered his head. A tear came down his cheek. " I was trying to...get to my mother. " Juska gasped. " You mean she...." Juska looked startled. Blaiz nodded and fell to the ground with more tears coming town his cheek. " Oh my gosh....you really mean it. " Juska walked over to Blaiz and held his paw. " It'll be ok....come with me. " Juska helped Blaiz up and led him to her den.
