The Last Act

By Ahura Werewolf

I can feel the rain soaking through my pelt.

Looking at the growing red stain as it darkens the ground.

Within I can feel where the bullet from the gun tore threw me.

Breathing in the sweet scents of this world.

I wait for the black shroud to cloud my vision.

My soul rises from it's mortal shell.

Looking as my eyes fog over.

With the wind my silvery form is carried to the presence of my

loved ones.

My mate lays curled next to my pups.

Standing near her I take in the heat that emits from her fur.

The cold ghastly form is wrapped in her warmth.

She raises her head and senses I am near.

Whimpering she asks "where are you?"

I try to answer back but all that comes out is breathless air.

Lightning pain wracks my body as I am dragged back into my

broken form.

I manage to stand trying to get back to her.

Each step exhausts more of my strength.

I beg my heart to keep beating to get me back to her.

The coldness of death weights upon me.

Trying to stop me in my tracks.

Every inch I silently celebrate.

The stars above me twickle encouraging me to continue onward.

Man may have ruined my body but my spirit will continue.

Even if I die I will not stop until I see her.

Entering into our cave my mate looks up.

Seeing her gaze I collapse.

My journey is over, my heart beat goes away and everything

spins out of focus until I see nothing.

My soul views her one last time.

It is time for me to cross the gate into the spirit world.

Where I will wait silently until we are together again.
