Their history untill the year of 1923.
Ever since New York City was first discovered by Henry Hudson, people and dogs came from all over the world to live there. In the year 1762, the first canine Family was created, it was a British Family who came from England before America became it's own country. Ever since Families, Mafias, and Creeds came from all over the world. By the year 1882, there were 37 canine Families, Mafias,and Creeds. In that year wars have struck between all 37 Families. It was soon called "The Great Family Wars". The Wars ended 1 year after World War One, in 1919, there are only 11 Families who survived, and only 5 of them are one of the 37 original Families.
I tried to mention as much of the main cultures of the world as I can, If your culture/heritage is not mentioned, don't worry, I respect ALL cultures.
Here is the list of the 11 Families.
The Enforcer Family: The Enforcer Family, or The Enforcers are the newest Family in New York. They are the main Family of Police Wars. Started by Issac Samuel Malinn in early 1919, a few months before the Family Wars ended. He came to America from Dublin, Ireland and settled in Brooklyn. He was a stray who lived with 5 other Irish dogs in one of Brooklyn's old and abandon warehouses over looking the entire harbor. One day he was walking home with food, but was suddenly mugged by a member of the Mafia that controlled all of Brooklyn called The Spartan Mafia. Issac got lucky when some Police dogs walked by and that Spartan made a break for it. He came home and talked to his roomates about building a Family of their own. After some thought they tried to construct an Irish Family. By October of 1919, they had enough members to have their own land. The Enforcers attacked the Spartan's docks north to Brooklyn Bridge, and south to Coney Island. After their victory of the docks, Issac came up with a good idea of making a ranking system and made a uniform. Every Family in New York had a collar and/or a tag to tell the Family and rank (except for the 11th Family, you'll see why) . He needed to make a statement and advertizing for the Enforcers, so made something that was in style back then, a suit and tie as the uniform and the tie's color was the rank.
Black Tie: Rookie (Lowest)
Orange Tie: Trooper (Average)
Green Tie: Second Class (Higher)
Red Tie: First Class (Highest)
When Issac died of age, and his son and their current leader, Jeremiah Gobnet Malinn put on the Red Tie in mid-1922, they have control of the docks of Brooklyn from Coney Island to north at Brooklyn Bridge. The Spartan Mafia is still a major threat to their Family's survival. Jeremiah doesn't have enough troops to use force against them for now, but he despratly needed land. He tried to make partnerships with other Families. He first went to another Irish Family on Staten Island called The Celtic Family, but a deal was made, since Staten Island is an island, the only way off is by bridge or boat, but their bridges have been taken over by an evil, dangerous, wide-spreading Family called The Deathlock Family, leaving the Celtics only useing marine vessels to leave the island. So the deal was to help with their bridge problem, Jeremiah did accept the deal. Then went to the last Italian Family that survived The Great Family Wars, The Roman Family who owned Little Italy, Chinatown, and Lower Manhatten. Jeremiah went face-to-face with their leader and he would accept his offer of partnership if Jeremiah would allow Italians into his Irish Family and to help with protect their northern border because a Family called the Ti Wong Family and The Deathlock Family is right above them. Lastly he made an offer for partnership for a former crime supporting Latino Mafia called The Mi-Ha Mafia who have control of Northern Queens and Welfare Island (present day Roosevelt Island). Yet another deal was demanded by their leader, they must allow Latinos into Jeremiah's Irish-Italian Family. Jeremiah... yet again, accepted the deal and The Enforcers became an Irish-Italian-Latino Family, but it was a smart move though. In January of 1923, 1 month before the story starts, The Enforcers have a large battle against The Spartan Mafia for more land, and won. Now The Enforcers have the entire West Brooklyn, but now, since The Spartans are allies with the Deathlocks, The Deathlocks are now beginning to get ready to fight the Enforcers.
The Deathlock Family: The Deathlock Family, or The Deathlocks are one of the 5 original Families of the Family Wars. They are the bad guys of the story. They started in the year 1862, during the American Civil War when Ulysess Mason Deathlock came to New York City as a Confederate or southern for Union or northern plans. Ulysess decited to stay in The Bronx in New York and build a Mafia because of the money and wealth in the city. When The Great Family Wars hit in 1882, the Deathlocks were at a pretty good state. The Deathlocks are known for their deadly Assassins and stelthy Spies. By 1900, while most Families were losing land or going extinct, The Deathlocks were growing, not just in the city but across country. In the city they have The Bronx as their capital, most of New Jersey, Central Park, Nothern Midtown, Times Square, The bridges to Staten Island, and Long Island (east of Brooklyn and Queens). The Bronx and New Jersey are the only part of the city that is connected to the mainland, and the Deathlocks own both, so it's easy to go into the rest of the country into other cities across the nation. During The First World War, Father Deathlock the 11th decited to make The Bronx a decoy capital by making the real capital a WWI military human H.Q, which is up river. The Deathlocks attacked the humans that worked there and made the humans aboandon it. The Fortress was perfect, it over looked the River, and was hidden from their enemies, uing The Bronx back in New York as a decoy capital, and had multiple buildings for more room for their widely spreading Family. By 1922, Father Deathlock the 11th had died by an Assassination attempt, now leaded by his son, and their current leader, Carlos Hector Deathlock or Father Deathlock the 12th, he is a Pitbull/boxer mix. Under his power, the Family have spread into Boston MA, Albany NY (New York state capital), Buffilo NY, Philidelphia PA, Washington D.C (United States capital), Miami FL, Atlanta GA, Dallas TX, Houson TX, Los Angelas CA, San Francisco CA, and Seatle WA. Now they begin to spread across North America to, they are in Toranto Canada, Qubec City Canada, Onterio Canada, Mexico City Mexico, Havana Cuba, Nassau Bahamas, Panama City Panama, and Kingston Jamacia. By then the Family have earned the nicknames The 20th century Roman Empire, and The Persian Empire A.D. By the time Police Wars starts in 1923, they are allies with the Ti Wong Family, The Spartan Mafia, The Viking Family, The Pirate Family, and the Babylonian Mafia.
The Celtic Family: The Celtic Family, or The Celtics started in 1916 by their current leader Aislinn Kerry McKenna,15 years after the McKenna Family moved to were their capital is now, Staten Island from Kilkenny, Ireland. Staten Island was all they had for territory to. The Celtics were pretty much nuetral during their existance. In early 1922, The Deathlocks made a full-scale attack on Staten Island, but were unsucssesful, but they did manage to take control of their bridges leading to the island. Since the Varrazano-Narrows Bridge (the bridge from Staten Island to Brookyn) wasn't made until te year 1964, the only way off the island is by boat, so Aislinn began hiring sailor dogs to train his Family how to use a vessel. By the time Aislinn signed the partnership with Jeremiah, his Family has the only Navel defence in the whole city, besides the humans of course.
The Roman Family: The Roman Family or the Romans, are the last Italian canaine Family left in New York City. The Family started in 1916, the same year as The Celtics, by their current leader, Bodachelli Antonio Addoloratta. When the Family began their were 2 other Italian Families and one of them were an origonal Family. By 1920, both Families were defeted by The Deathlocks. Now all was left was The Romans with their small territory in Little Italy, Chinatown, and Lower Manatten. Before 1921, The Family was safe from Father Deathlock's wrath because a Family called the Ti Wong Family to the North of them in south Mid-town and Hell's Kitchen blocked The Deathlocks way of reaching The Romans and the only way br reaching them is by bridge from New Jersey, but The Deathlocks have more to do with all of the cities they have territory in. In 1921 The Ti Wong Family has signed a partnership with The Deathlocks. Now the entire northern border is open for attack by the nation's largest Family. In October of 1922, the newest, and fastest growing Family in New York, The Enforcers, offered a partnership. Bodachelli was suprised when their leader, Jeremiah Malinn came face-to-face with him. Bodachelli would accept, since the Enforcers were crime fighters like The Romans, but he had to make sure Jeremiah was a brave leader, so made two deals with The Enforcer leader. First was to let Italians into Jeremiah's Irish Family, and the second was to help defend The Roman's northern border. Jeremiah agreed with both deals and the partnership was signed. Soon after, Bodachelli signed a partnership with The Enforcer's other ally, The Celtics. After the signing, both Families began to use Issac Malinn's ranking system with the suit and tie. Now The Ti Wongs begin to attack their former capital, Chinatown, but Bodachelli won't just give it to them without a fight.
The Mi-Ha Mafia: The Mi-Ha Mafia, or The Mi-Has, were one of the 5 origonal Families of New York. It is a Latino, or Spanish Family. It was started in 1871 by a dog who came to America with his brother from Mexico City in 1869. The dog's name was Gonzalo Hemastas El Martinez and the brother's name Isandro De' Jose' El Martinez. In 1870, a year after coming to New York City, Isandro got diagnosed by a disease called Lime Disease, and died from it. A year later, Gonzalo made A Family of his own out of his brother's loving memory by naming it after his catch phrase, "Mi-Ha". When the Wars strarted 11 years later, the Family had no choice but to become a Mafia. They began to conquer much land during the Wars. when the Wars ended in 1919, They had Northern Queens and Welfare Island (present day Roosevelt Island). The Family was the only Family in New York that elected their leaders. In 1921, the old leader had died from a murder and an election is to be held, and the winner is a young dog named Anastas Aztec Santiago. He belived the the Family still had good in it and tried to bring it back to it's law respected state. In December, a month after the election, Jeremiah, leader of The Enforcer Family, askes for a partnership aganst the the evil Deathlock Family, and the 2nd most domanant Family in New York, The Spartan Mafia. Anastas agrees and signed the partnership, with a deal to allow Latinos into Jeremiah's Irish-Italian Family, and to help maintain Law and Order to the Family. Jereimah did accept his deals and another partnership was founded to The Enforcer Rebellian against the evil Mafias of the City.
The Spartan Mafia: The Spartan Mafia, or The Spartans, are another of the 5 original Families of New York. It is the first and only Greek Family in New York City history. It was started in 1866 by a female named Helen Athena Apollo after she came to America from Athens, Greece. Helen settled in Brooklyn and wanted to start a Family of her own and named it after the ancient city-state that some of her ancestors came from, Sparta. When the Wars had begun in 1882, The Spartans quickly tried to get allies, but the Wars was all free-for-all, so the Family were on their own. The Spartans then began conquering more and more territory untill they finally have all of Brooklyn and east Queens. Finally in 1905, Father Deathlock the 9th, leader of The Deathlock Famly at the time, who also have the most land in North America, offered a partnership. The Mafia had no choice, they could be killed if the they don't. Besides, working with the most dangerous Family in North America, not much worries about being conquered. In 1921, a Family called, The Enforcer Family, came out of nowhere inside their own territory and conquered the docks of Coney Island up to the Brooklyn Bridge. The Spartans now have lost their view of New York Harbor. Their current leader, Achilles Paris Apollo, now tries to recontrol those docks, but the only thing standing in their way isone of the Enforcer's allies, the Mi-Ha Mafia to their north, who they have been at war with them since 1889.
The Ti Wong Family: The Ti Wong Family, or the Ti Wongs, is a Chinise Family the started in 1892 by a dog named Hong-Shu Lee Ti Wong after he came to America from Beijing, China in 1887. He moved to Chinatown and built the Family there. He came in to the fight during the middle of the Wars, so he had to do what the Enforcers did about 30 years in the future, Hong-Shu secretly built a Family named after his last name, inside of a British territory and attack from the inside. That's exactly what he did. By 1910, the Family had owned Chinatown as their capital, lower Midtown, and Hell's Kitchen. In 1918, a Family on their south border called, The Roman Family, an Italian Family, had surrounded Chinatown in 3 directions and attacked it and then conquered it. The Ti Wongs had to move their capital as north as they can away from the Romans, to Hell's Kitchen. In 1921, the Family just north of them, The Deathlock Family, offered a partnership, The Family agreed and now have renforcments to reclaim Chinatown by their enemy and maybe even take over them, The Roman Family.
The Pirate Family: The Pirate Family, or the Pirates, are one of the many German Families in New York history. It was started in 1903, by a dog named Bastain Dennis Etzel after he came to New York from Hamburg, Germany, or back then the German Empire. Bastain settled in Fort Lee, New Jersey (where the George Washington Bridge is) and wanted to be somebody in a new place, so built a Family. He named the Family after his favorite stories, Pirate stories. Fort Lee was not a major battleground during the Family Wars, so it wasn't as hard to make a Family as Manhatten and Brooklyn. He soon made a Family of Germans. When the first World War hit in 1914, The Family did no attacking, and icolated their borders and did only defending. They knew Americans will come and attack them daily if they caused any more trouble becuase the German Empire is at War with... well, the world. When the War ended in 1918, The Pirates can come out of hiding, when they did, immediately the Family across the river, The Deathlock Family, offred a partnership. The Family was surprised, America just won aganst their heritage, and now offer partnership. In 1922, their current leader took charge, this one is a female named Bridgette Carina Etzel. She is young, and the first female in charge of the Family out of it's 4 generations. She despises her ally of the Deathlocks, she even betrayed them by secretly giving Deathlock plans to their closest "enemy", The Romans. The Romans or the Deathlock don't know she is doing this, and if the Deathlocks do ever find out, the Pirates will be all but dead, like the rest 32 original Families during the Family Wars, and Bridgette knows it. The Pirates are really good-guys who are playing as bad-guys.
The Babylonian Mafia: The Babylonian Mafia, or The Babylons is one of a few Arabic Families in New York's history. It was started in 1899 by a dog named Nizar Qasim Taj-al-Din after he came to New York from Damascus, Syria in 1897. Nizar moved to Union City in New Jersey and wanted to be part of the action of the Family Wars. Nizar named his Famiy after his favorite cilivazation, and some of his heritage is Babylonian. He suprisingly made a Family fairly qulickly and gained control of Union City without even a fight. The Family before, a European Spanish Family dropped out of the Wars and fleed. Union City was up for grabs and The Babylons took it before anyone else attempted to. The Badylons were now offically in the action. Immediately The Deathlock Family offered a partnership, the were the first of the 1923 Families to join their side. During the years, the Family didn't do any conquering, they stuck to Union City because the Deathlocks were doing most of the dirty work for them. In late 1922, their current leader, Dabir Fateen Taj-al-Din, took power and does any thing Father Deathlock askes. Dabir's main task is to work with the leader of the Viking Family to find and destroy a group of Assassin dogs that has been hidden since the Family Wars started, and has been assassinating members of the Deathlocks called the Judah Creed.
The Viking Family: The Viking Family, or the Vikings is one of the original Families of New York, and are the one of a few Scandanavian (Norway, Sweden, and Finland) Families of New York's history. This Family is the oldest canine Family that is still alive in 1923. It was started in 1859 by a dog named Halvar Enok Alexandra after coming to America from Stockholm, Sweden. He moved to Jersey City and built a Family, nameing after his early heritage of Viking dogs. In the 1850s and 60s, all Families were at peace, and the Deathlocks haven't even began in New York until 1862. In the 1870s, wars have just begun to form in the city, and the 1880s, It was a horror show, wars have begun on to every Family, and no allies. It was one Family, V.S 36 Families. Jersey City was not a major target and neather was the territory south of them called Bayonne, owned by a French Family. The Vikings had no choice but to attack Bayonne in 1891 and declaried war with the French Family. They won that war in 1893 and Bayonne is now Viking territory. In 1905, The Deathlock Family has offered them a partnership. The Viking thought it would be nice to have an ally so signed the offer. Soon after, The Deathlocks have taken out all other Families on the other side of Newark bay (The bay to the west) and the Vikings only had The Deathlocks and one of their allies, The Babylons to their north as their borders, and Deathlock renforcerments and defences came pouring in to Jersey City and Bayonne. The only thing the Family needed to worry about now is a couple of Italian and Russian Families in Manhatten, but with the Deathlock's help, that is no worry. In 1919, their current leader, Gottfrid Hampus Alexander took charge and now that the Family Wars are over, Father Deathlock the 11th gave Gottfrid the command to work with the Babylonain leader to find and destroy a group of canine Assassins (The next Family) who have been hiding somewhere in the city since the Wars begun. The Family does whatever the Deathlocks ask, in return for protection from other Families.
This is a warning: The next Family is my opinion my favorite Family, but has an enemy that has a negitive history refrence that may offend someone. Don't worry, I DO NOT support the group of people/dogs that is about to be mentioned as the Family's enemy.

The Judah Creed: The Judah Creed, The Creed, or The Brotherhood, is the last of the 5 origonal Families in New York. In my opinion, this is my favorite Family. It is the last Jewish Family that survived the Family Wars. It started by by a dog named Hadar Psalm Ladan in 1879 after he came to America from Jerusalem, Isreal. He settled in Staten Island until he learned a Klan, who originally began in Southern United States, called the Ku Klux Klan, also known as the K.K.K, was beginning to spread through the city influencing both humans and dogs. This Klan was not a good one, they were agianst African Americans, Jewish, and Cathlocs (Racist I know, I hate these guys to, but I'm just following the history books, it's part of America's negitive history). Hadar needed to stay away from the K.K.K, especially if he wants to build a Family. There were 7 other Jewish Families in New York at the time, and 2 were attacked almost daily by the Deathlocks and/or the K.K.K. Later after moving to Coney Island, he took a tour in the old military base called Fort Jay, on an island called Govenors Island, owned by the U.S government. Hadar sneeked out of the tour to a large underground chamber and other tunnles to different parts of Govener's Island. This old and large chamber hasn't been used since the American Civil War in the 1860s, almost 20 years ago and probally will never be used by humans again. Hadar knew this would be perfect to keep his new Family hidden from the K.K.K and New York's newest threat, The Deathlock Family, but he also knew the staff of the Island would find out he's somewhat living in the chamber, so he tricked his owner to buy the chamber as a private storage space. He broght his owner's fake cheak to a staff dog to give to the manager of Fort Jay, and the manager agreed with the fake deal. Hadar then explored his new property and followed the tunnels, they lead to 3 other chambers the same size as the first one. He then moved his Family into those chambers. When the Family Wars started in 1882, The Creed tried not to interfier and stay hidden, but they had no choice but to fight as well when an enemy Egyptian Family found out about their existance. Hadar was still leader as an elderly dog, but he came with an idea to take out the enemy without spreading the news on who defeted them. He trained his Family of 75 to be Assassins. They soon were called from the Judah Family, to The Judah Creed. Hadar gave all of his new Assassins white hooded-robes to hide thier idenditys and to prevent evidence of the Creed's existance. There ranking system was a number in hebrew from 1-10 marked on the left shoulder of the Robes. Through the Wars, The Creed was secretly Assassinating their targets, and were never discovered and were hidden saftly in the underground chambers of Govener's Island. During the final years of the Family Wars in the 1910s, The Creed members earned the nicknames, "Hooded Angels of Death", or "The Robed Protecters of New York", and "White Robed Ninjas". The religous dogs of the city belived that these Assassins were sent by God himself to relive the city of evil. By the time the Wars were over, The Creed became a city legend, and their hide out at Fort Jay was still unknown to anyone. Their current leader, Achmed Elijah Ladan, took power in 1921, and even though his Creed is very small, only little over 300 members, they still are the hooded heroes of the city. Every generation of the Creed, their is a single Assassin that is an army by him/her self. In 1922, that Assassin for my series was born, and raised to be an Assassin. He is also one of the unmentioned main characters in my prevous Fan Fic, Love's Crime and Police Wars New Characters (to be honest, I came up of the Creed and this Assassin after I sent that Fic, I did edt the fic so if you read it before I added him, there is a short description about him). His name was Altair David Melech, a Border Collie/Rough Collie mix. Like the rest of the Creed, he belived in the Jewish religion strongly. When he became 7 months old, he earned his white, hooded-robes. Altair became the Creed's top Assassin and had been awarded the Robe that says the number 10 in Hebrew shortly after, and became known, and feared around the city. When Police Wars starts in 1923, Altair has assassinated a little more then 40 members of the K.K.K and the Deathlock Family, that adds up to about 80 targets eliminated. The Judah Creed is the smallest Family of about 300 members, but is as dangerous as The Deathlock Family, who have members in the millions across the continent. Even though all Families, including the newest one, The Enforcer Family, completly out numbers the Creed, they all fear them.
