Gobi was having pups. A mother to a litter of five. Gobi was black and white, a husky, purebred. "Oh, Dula, aren't they beautiful?" Gobi asked her mate. "What should we name them?" Dula, the dark brown and black german shepard/wolf, stared at the pups.
"The brown boy with the floppy ears should be, Yuka. That bronze and black girl with, what might turn into pointed ears, should be Aliesha. Then the girl with black and white, hmm, let's name her, Gobi." Dula said trying to weasel a kiss from Gobi but was turned away.
Dula sat trying to think of more names for the last two pups.
"The one that looks like you should be Dula, see look at him. He looks like you when you were a pup! That one, over there, should be midnight. Because she's all black." Gobi suddenly gasped. "Look at her ears, Dula! They are already pointed upward!"
Dula gasped surprised. The small pup looked nothing like it's mother. She was pure black with no other colors. Her eyes were grey/gold.
That's what her father looked like when he was a pup. With pointed ears at this age, she had to have his blood. Dula was afraid his secret would be found out. "I've got to go." said Dula running out the door.
Gobi was to shocked by her pup to notice.
Dula ran to the lake. He wanted to look at his reflection in the water, but he knew that there would be none. "A vampire's got no place in this world." He said quietly.
"Hello, Dula." a voice said.
"You. Get away!" Dula yelled.
"I know what you are, Dula. You beast!" The creature yelled. The animal lunged at him and knocked him down. "This is for everyone you killed!" it said picking up a stick.
Dula hissed at the dog, who was now in his vision, nashing at him with large fangs. "Do... your... WORST!" Dula screeched as the stick penatrated his skin and peirced right next to his heart.
"You degenerate... creature... of.. darkness!" Dula screamed as the stick stabbed his lung.
Seeing that didn't kill him, the dog pulled the stick out and stabbed him again, this time hitting his heart.

Gobi was yelling for Dula. "Dula, it's your turn to take care of the kids! Dula? DULAAA!?" Suddenly, Casha came up. "Gobi, Dula is dead! Didn't you hear the bad news?" Casha said as she sat down to comfort Gobi.
Iron was watching everything from behind a trashcan. Iron is a silver and white husky, purebred. He walked up to Gobi and Casha.
"Ladies." Iron said. It looked as if Casha melted at the sight of him. "Beat it, Iron!" Gobi growled.
"Oh, I just wanted to tell you who killed beloved, Dula. But, ok." Iron started away. "Wait, do you really know who killed my Dula?" Gobi asked walking toward him. Iron smiled evily then turned and cooly stared into Gobi's eyes. "Meet me at the old barn, midnight." He said and walked away.
November 16, 1919 12:00 A.M.
Gobi walked over to the old barn. She saw Iron awaiting her arrival. Suddenly he grabbed her and threw her down.
Iron beat her unconsios.
Steele would be born. Along with six other pups.
November 19, 1919 4:30 P.M.
"Iron did something to me, Casha. I haven't told any one yet." Gobi said with her pups, she already had, close and play fighting. "Well, you can tell me." Casha said.
Gobi told Casha what happened.
Casha's bright smile slowly faded as she pulled her ear away. Casha looked as white as snow; Gobi was dark red, though.
July 18, 1920 7:38 P.M.
Midnight, close to a year old almost, was walking around, bored out of her wits! "What to do, what to do?" She thought outloud. Then she saw Hakuma.
"Hey! HEY!" Midnight yelled. Hakuma turned, scowled and walked away.
Midnight expected a big annoying hug, like she usually got, not that.
Midnight ran up to Hakuma and growled "What's up with you?! I only wanted to say sorry!"
"What's up with you?!" Hakuma screeched back. Midnight backpedaled. "I can't believe you were talking behind my back! Telling everyone my secret. What is wrong with you?!" Hakuma screamed.
Midnight stood up and growled. She and Hakuma took a stance that they only saw Hakuma's mother do in the ring.
Hakuma's mother, Janaki, was a champion fighter. She would rip her apponents to shreds and leave them to die.
They would have fought to the death if they weren't friends. Onaki came up and saw the two fighting.
"Ladies, please. You don't have to fight over me there's plenty to go around!" He said pointing to his self. Both of the girls slapped him.
Onaki was one of their friends, but that boy was annoying.
Aliesha came up and said "What are you to doing?" Onaki and Aliesha were friends since the cardboard box. "Shut up, Aliesha! This is between us. 'Mono 'e' Mono'!" Hakuma barked madly.
Midnight noticed that Hakuma had foam spilling from her mouth. "RUN!" she screamed. The others saw the foam and took off like rockets.
Hakuma laughed and cackled as she chased them.
July 26, 1920 11:54 P.M.
Midnight stood still. Remembering what happened when her father left. Her mom, Gobi, had been suicidal since she had those pups of Iron's.
Steele, the first and spitting image of his mother, Iron, second and clone of his father, Jewel, the third and one with a big star on her forehead, Olupe, fourth and totally white one, Abby, fifth and a cow-furred little brat, Lilly, sixth and a totally grey colored monster (inside and out), Kash, seventh and was white with a tint of green for some strange reason.
Midnight sat on an old boat out on the tundra. Cold, dark, and restless. This was the quiet that Midnight loved. Between twililight and dawn.
Midnight.
Her favorite time of night or day. This was when she would get strange sensations to go and hunt something. But when she hunted, she would end up sucking it bone dry. She didn't have a clue what was wrong with, why she hunted prey this easily, or why anything really mattered.
This image of land was so picturesque but suddenly, she heard a soft whimpering sound behind her that broke this serene silence. She made no hesitation to stop herself from lunging. But in mid-air, she stopped.
A pup as small as a chihuahua came aboard her ship whimpering. He gasped and suddenly flipped over on his back quivering in front of the "wolf" before him.
True, Midnight looked as a wolf would, but she wasn't anything close to one. Except for her fathers wolf blood traveling in and out through her beating heart. Well, not really beating.
"Get up." She said rather violently.
"What?" said the small very shaky. He flipped onto his belly and bowed to the wolf. "GEEZ, Stop bowing! It's like you're trying to worship me! What are you doing here anyway?" She said nudging him to his feet.
"But my mother said to always bow to your elders or you'll be direpecting them!" He said in a small baby voice.
"Don't you mean disrespecting?" she asked. "Dat's what I said!" he yelped, his teeth tightly clenched and a small growl erupting from his throat. He was highly surprised at Midnight who nipped at his flank for growling.
"Don't 'direpect' me, if you want to stay safe on this boat!" She said in Mock-anger. "Come on."
They walked into her boat. The little dog stared around. Suddenly, everything fell black. "HEEEEEELP!" he squealed, wriggling around. Midnight sighed, pulled the blanket off of his face, and picked it up.
"You want this, or not?" She asked more demanding than asking really.
"Thanks." he said. "What's your name, ma'am?" "Midnight, you?" she asked back. "I'm Balto." he said.
"I can smell you're a wolf-dog." Midnight told him. "Please don't make fun of me! I've had enough crap in my life alrady!" Balto shreiked.
"Hmm. Nice spunk. But I don't think you'd want to talk like that to me." Midnight said. She turned to him and let her teeth sink out of her mouth. "I'm Midnight, The nights child. Don't be afraid, I'm also a wolf-dog."
Balto gasped and stared. He was puzzled by what Midnight had said. "The night's child?" he asked.
"You'll know someday." Midnigt replied.
August 6, 1920 4:39 P.M.
Balto slept as Midnight watched the sunrising. Midnight sighed and went to "hunt". Before she did she walked over to the shivering pup, picked him and the blanket up and moved him into a box. "Aaah, you're not feeling things for pup, are you?" Midnight asked herself. But really, she did feel something. She felt a love like he was her pup.
Midnight went out, on the frozen tundra, hunting.
Suddenly, a snow shoe hare darted across to a pile of snow. She crouched down, and waited. Watched. An hour passed. Suddenly, she thought about Balto. "The little scamp is fine." She said. Then the rabbit shot out like a bullet, Midnight linged catching the white rabbit in her jaws.
"What are you doing?" a voice asked.
Midnight quickly turned with the rabbit hanging out of her mouth. "Noffing." Midnight's voice was muffled by the hair and flesh of the rabbit. "Let's go home."
While they were walking back to the boat, Midnight started sucking at the rabbit. She noticed she almost took too much, so she stopped. She would have to chew for Balto like he was her pup. When they got to her boat, she would do it the wolf way. He probably still had to drink milk. But she had none. "What could he drink?" Midnight mumbled silently to herself. Then it hit her. The only thing she had was... Blood.
"Balto? Balto, do you eat meat yet?" Midnight asked. "Yeah, I do. My mom was trying to make me eat meat." Balto said. Midnight was puzzled. Why hadn't he been sad about his mother? Midnight had been sad when she found out her father died. "You don't seem sad. Why?" Midnight asked.
"Because she abandened me! Why would she do that? Can you answer? NO! Nobody can. She knew she was going to leave! I could feel it! She always had this weird look, and I could feel it burning into my sides. And since I was alone with all the other wolves they would have ripped me to shreds!" Balto screeched, tearing up the rabbit.
The emotion that he let out was first horrid anger, streaming saddness that the world seemed to carry, and finally, precious calmness that made everything around them seem so okay. Rain poured from dark clouds all around.
August 10, 1920 8:46 A.M.
Midnight stretched her long body, and slunk over to Balto."Hey little buddy, wake up." Midnight said. Balto yawned and stretched his back paws, fore paws, and shook hisself.
"Hello, Middy. How did you sleep?" Balto asked. "Fine, thank you." Midnight walked over to the door. "I have to, uh, well... stay there okay." Midnight went to make dirt.
"Midnight, I have to go potty!" Balto said in his sweet babyish voice. Midnight came and found no Balto. "Balto? Where'd you go?" Midnight asked. Suddenly she tripped over a small, metal box. It made soft music when she opened it.
Balto hopped out of a box that smelled like urine. "Oh, Balto!" Midnight said. "You didn't! Did you?" Balto gave a cheesy smile. "I had to go potty."
Midnight gave an exasperated sigh. "Balto, do you know what this is?" Balto shook his head. "Nuh-uh. I don't know, do you?"
"No." she said. "But it seems so... Familiar."
And so the story begins...
