A young stormy grey she-wolf crept slowly along the snow covered ground. Her blue-grey eyes darted swiftly to one of her pack mates to her right when "ouch Swift get off my tail!" Jetski complained "I ain't on your tail, but I will be if ya don't move it!" the chocolate colored male replied. "Both of ya hush before I rip both your tails off!" Stormy growled calling them back to attention. Then she turned her attention back to their prey, aside from their little spat she knew the rest of her pack was ready. She sprung from her hiding spot and her group herded the caribu to the rest of the pack. Twila's group sprinted out and they easily took out the startled animal. "Guys I think we should take this to my mom's pack" Stormy said "after all we have plenty stored up."
"I think that's very generous Stormy, with prey so slim this winter I'm sure she could use it." They all agreed and drug the kill to Aleu's turf. "Mom? Momma! Stormy called as she and the others left the kill in the storage den where she knew she would want it and walked out into the pack to look for the mousey brown she-wolf.
Stormy searched amoung the many wolves of her mother's pack, but couldn't find her. Then she caught a glimpse of a familiar mud red male "Frost Paws!" she exclaimed running up to him. "Hello Little Storm" he greeted warmly, Swift snickered at the nickname, and his sister Stream quickly silenced him. "Have you seen my mom?"
"Yes, on patrol again, eastern border."
"Thanks" she rushed out and took off eastword.
"Mother!" she called as she emerged from the trees. She heard a vicious snarl and quickly ran to the source. She saw Niju and his son Coal, Niju was lunging for Aleu, so she lunged for Niju, and pinned him to the ground by the throat "Coal!" he rasped out angrily, ordering his son to help him. Coal grabbed Stormy's scruff and drug her off of his father and into the cover of the trees, he released her when she stopped struggling. "Just who do you think you are Coal!?" she exclaimed angrily. "You had no right to interfere, he was attacking my mother!"
"Who is a halfbreed, and has to be eleminated" Coal responded cooly "if you were a halfbreed I'd have to kill you to, as much as it would pain me to do so. Why don't you just come with us? It would be alot easier for you, its going to happen eventually anyway." Stormy was transported back to when she first met Coal:
Stormy was barely a year old when Niju and his young son stormed onto their turf. Stormy and Aleu were laying under a large tree, resting after tiring hunting lesson. When the pair walked up, both females growled, Niju was Aleu's worst enemy, and Stormy just didn't know them. "Aleu" he said in a sharp tone "we need to talk." Aleu complied to his wishes, though it was obvious she didn't want to, and left the two yearlings alone. "So your the little adapted" the black male said cooly "yep" Stormy said dryly with a small nod. "Then your very lucky, I'm Coal."
"I'm Stormy, and why am I lucky?"
"Because this means that your not a halfbreed, we won't have to kill you for being useless."
Coal studied the female before him very closely "you know my dad said it will be time for me to take a mate soon"
Oh?" Stormy said as a light frown formed across her muzzle "mm-hm and I was thinking you would be perfect" he said coming very close.
It took a moment for Stormy to realize that Coal actually was getting really close to he "get back!" she snarled baring her fangs. "No" he answered simply and startedd to gently nuzzle her. Stormy forced herself not to get carried away with the male, and tried to hold onto this as his tongue caressed her cheek, sending shivers down her spine, she stepped away from him and growled "its time for you and your father to leave!"
"That's fine for now beautiful, but you'll give in, I know you will" he said silkily. She turned to leave with a roll of her eyes, when Coal leaned forward and nudged her flank as a sighn of affection. Stormy was glad she turned around because she was blushing bright red now, but kept going while his warm chuckle resounded in her head.
Stormy ran back to her mother, only to find that Niju was still there, a low growl rumbled in her throat "its time for you to leave as well" she said cooly. "I need to speak with you" he said his voice becoming suddenly pleasent.
'then speak" she said not changing her tone. "I want you to join my pack."
"No."
"You don't understand Stormy, I can tell you the truth about everything. Whou you are, where you came from, and why you can't remember. All you have to do is come with me." Stormy stood there frozen, she couldn't move, couldn't breathe, she was paralyzed. How did he know all this? "Don't listen to him Stormy, he;s lying" Aleu said bringing her out of her momentary shock. "Just...let me think it over." By this time most of Aleu's pack started to gather, Stormy's pack included, she ran to them. "What's he want?" Stream, a silvery color she-wolf, and Swift's sister, asked worriedly, seeing her leader was stressed. "He wants me to join his pack."
No way!" Swift exclaimed "Yeah!" Jetski, a creme color she-wolf, exclaimed, for once agreeing with the chocolate colored male. "Your our leader!" Tibalt, a smokey grey male with a half white face, agreed "I have to agree with them Stormy" Twila, the black and white she-wolf said. "They're probally trying to trick you, they don't really need you."
"Look I respect everyone's opinion, but he said he knows about my past, that's worth a shot trying to figure it out, plus someone on the inside could be a good thing, it would give us a chance to take down his operation from the inside. We are a "rebel" pack after all, but I'll be back soon I promise, Twila's in charge until further notice."
"Awww" Jetski and Swift complained, as their leader ran off.
Stormy couldn't help but smile when she heard them. She walked back up to her mother and Niju "I'll come."
"What?" Aleu exclaimed "Talk to Twila"she said sharply and went with Niju. Tibalt sprinted up and walked alongside her. "Tibalt?"
"What, you didn't think we would let you go with this guy alone did you?" he said with a warm smile. 'Good ol' Tibalt always trying to protect me' she thought happily. As they walked Stormy began to recall how she started her rebel pack, and how she broke the news to her mother:
Stormy was young, but her and her friends had become wise to the ways of Niju and his "perfect pack plan." She'd gotten together with her friends Swift, Stream, Jetski, Twila, and Tibalt, though she hadn't know Tibalt long she felt she could trust him, and the two shared a close bond. All the yearlings quickly agreed that the "rebel" pack had been a good idea, and departed to break the news to their parents, even if their parents didn't agree, they were going to leave anyway. They had some turf picked out and it had lots of rock structures surounding a large bowl like plane, where there dens were, and the land itself was rough for any kind of travler with all the hills and slopes. There where also plenty of trees and other plants for coverage if need be.
Stormy walked into her mother's den "mom" she said gently nudging the mousey brown female "hmm? What is it Stormy?"
"Mom we need to talk" she said as her adaptive mother pulled herself into a sitting position. "I'm leaving the pack, and so are my friends, we're starting a rebel pack to stop Niju. I wanted you to know this, I don't care if you agree or not. Its what has to be done, we have to stop this."
Now tyhey were finally putting their plan into action, after a year of spying, and getting information, they were finally going to stop the madness Niju created. "So uh what is this plan of your's anyway?" Stormy asked trying to see what she could pull out of the older male. "Its quite simple really' niju said "I'm going to take any and all purebred wolves with the strength to stand on their own and create one big pack, and the ones that can't die sense it would happen eventually anyway."
"That's terrible!" Tibalt growled. Stormy silenced him with a glare, but it was to late Niju's keen sense of hearing had already picked it up.
"It may be, but its what has to be done! We don't have room for bleeding hearts, so you better straighten up!"
When they arrived at Niju's packsite, Stormy was immdiatly greeted by Coal "I told you, you'd surender" he said as he walked up and pulled her into a hug. Stormy pushed him away "I'm here to learn about my past nothing more, nothing less, I'm not here for you." She growled shoving past him.
Both males watched her go, Tibalt knew well that she had no idea where she was going, Coal chuckled fixing his emerald eyes on his oponet's brown ones "She has quite a mouth, but that can be easily fixed, she'll be perfect."
Stormy and Tibalt eventually found an empty den, and Tibalt had fallen asleep as soon as he layed down, which gave Stormy some time to think. Did Niju really know somthing about her past? Could she really trust him enough to tell heer the truth? No she didn't think so. Stormy's thoughts drifted to her adapted mother, she was a halfbreed, would Niju kill her? No, she wouldn't allow it, not at all. She lay down and put her head on her paws, tomorrow was going to be a long day.
Niju woke them both early the next morning, Stormy had been right, this was quite a different lifestyle than it was with the rebel pack, she hoped she wasn't in over her head.
As days passed Stormy and Tibalt grew to hate the perfect pack, they were put through many tests, and they learned just how cruel Niju could be. Any wolf not following orders always got less food, if any at all, and always slept out in the cold. Stormy had been forced to watch an execution, which was almost to much for her to take, she ended sobbing into Coal's chest, he just happened to be next to her. He spoke very little to Stormy as it was, let alone anything about her past, she knew she'd been had, and besides that she always had to lead pack hunts, and decide on battle plans.
One evening Stormy and Tibalt had just come in from a pack hunt, when they came up on a very startling scene, Stream was at the paws of Coal, and he didn't look pleased with with thew small silvery female."What's going on here?" she asked cooly as she approached. "Stormy!" Stream exclaimed relieved "silence!" Coal barked "this rebel was caught stealing our food and attacking one of our pack members." Stormy wanted to faint "Stream?" she asked "I didn't do it Stormy I swear! Please!"
"Stormy" Coal said in a level tone "you know our laws, you know what has to be done."
"Stormy did know the laws, her best friend sense puphood was going to be executed "yes Coal" she whispered. "I know, but that doesn't mean I agree with it" she looked at her friend with tears threatning to spill from her eyes. "I'm so sorry Stream, I'll see what I can do for you" she said her voice cracking, before turning and running back to her den. She knew there wasn't anything she could do for Stream, others had been killed for way less than what she'd done. She layed her head on her paws and sobbed, this was all her fault, she should've been there to protect Stream, and now she wasn't doing anything but crying about it. "Stormy?" Tibalt's warm voice reached her ears "Tibalt ?" she asked shakily "I can't do this, I can't watch Stream die, and I can't stay here, its just to bad." Tibalt walked over and curled up next to her, she layed her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes. 'Your doing it again, whimpering when you should be helping! Hope isn't lost yet, and neither is Stream!' her mind screamed. A suuden jolt of energy rushed through her, and she jumped to her paws. "We can still save her!" she exclaimed excitedly. "What? How?" Tibalt asked. "It'll be easy, but we need the rest of the pack, go get them, I'm going to the prison den. Good luck!"
Tibalt took off at a blazing speed, ignoring the looks and comments from the other wolves, he just ran, and ran until he made it back to rebel pack turf, where he found everyone in near panic, "Tibalt!" Jetski exclaimed. "Where's Stream and Stormy are they alright?" Swift asked in a rush. "Yes, they're fine, for now. Stormy has a plan and she needs all of us over there now" so they all took off for perfect pack turf.
Stormy quickly sprinted over to the prison den, but stopped short when she saw who was on prison guard. "Ah, Coal" she groaned in frustration, there was no other way into the den, other than the main entrence. And it would take hours to dig a new entrence, she only had an hour and a half until dawn, digging not an option. She'd have to go through, but how? An idea struck her, but she really didn't want to have to do it. She worked up some more tears and approached "Coal?" she whispered. "Stormy? What is it? Are you ok?"
"No, its stream, I-I can't watch my best friend die Coal." He sat real close to her, wrapped his tail around her, and started nuzzling her. "I know it has to be hard on you sweetie, but its what has to be done, do you want to stay with me? I can get another guard."
"Yes, but can I see her first, tell her goodbye, please Coal?" He seemed to think it over for a moment before saying "alright, don't be long, I'll go get another guard."
Stormy strode in, barely surpressing her grin, and looked for Stream, she found her in the cornner crying. "Stream" she whispered urgently "Stormy!"
"Sh! We're gonna bust ya out, Tibalt and the others are on their way. I'm going to keep Coal distracted, Swift and Tibalt can handle whoever Coal finds as a replacement. Hide in the cover of the trees, out of sight, on the southeastern border, closest to our turf, I'll meet you guys there."
"Stormy" Coal said gently "its time to go" Stormy started crying again and hugged the silvery female. "I'm going to miss you so much, goodbye" she sobbed, and ran out of the den, and into Coal's embrace.
Tibalt, Swift, and the girls made their way to the prison den. Stormy had been right, Swift and Tibalt easily took down the guard, and slipped into the den, Jetski stood in front to keep watch, after all they only had a few minuets before Niju would come and take Stream away for execution.
"C'mon sis let's go!" Swift whispered urgently, but happily, nudging his sister awake. An alert bark from Jetski put everyone in high gear, they bolted out of the packsite, narrowly avoiding detection, and waited for Stormy on the southeastern side.
Stormy lay curled up next to Coal, a hot blush dusting her cheeks, the whole thing had been absolutely foolish. She quietly got to her paws, and slipped out of the den. Coal was going to have quite a time explaining what he'd been up to for the past hour, but that was his problem, not hers. She took off for the southeastern side, she was finally going home.
Stormy emerged from the trees and everyone immidiately embraced her, she laughed "its so good to see you guys again!"
"Its good to have you back Stormy" Twila greeted kindly. "Yeah!" Jetski piped up "its no fun when Twila's in charge!"
"You got that right!" Swift agreed and the both recieved a small warning growl from Twila, and the rebel pack made their way home.
Next time in The Cronicals of Stormy...
"You've been acting strange lately Stormy" Tibalt stated gazing at his friend and leader with worried eyes. "I have not Tibalt now step off!" she growled, trying to shove past the large male, but he just stepped back in her path. "No, I think somthing's wrong with you, how else would you explain your severe mood swings" Stormy gave Tibalt a death glare. "Just what exactly are you implying Tibalt?" she asked cooly...
