it was a warm day in nome, alaska. me and my team mates had just finishd a race. my team and i wear the most popular dogs on nome. my team mates loved the attention from the girls, i on the other hand didn't as much, there was only on dog i wanted the attention of. i'd do anything to get attention. her name is echo, and bealive me her name was perfect for her cause anytime any one said it, it would just sond through my head over and over.

but getting her attention was the hard part. every time i tride shooter, steel's son ended up making me look like a fool in front of her. you see shooter likes her to, but the brite side is that she dosn't feel the same way about him. both my team mate like her friends, sis and lasie.

" hey nyx nows your chanse, i heard that echo and her friends are heading down to the shore."

" yeah and i know the perfect short cut."

" alright lets go."

as we ran down to the shore, i spoted echo and her friends.

" look there they are."

 the look  on my friends faces when they saw sis and lasie with her was enormous. they where waging there tails and everthing.

" hey theres sisi."

" yeah and lasie."

" come on lets go."

i started to walk. stark stoped me abruptly.

" hu?" i looked up at him. " what is it."

" look whos walking up to them."

i took a closer look.

" grrrrrr, shooter."

" yup, come on will talk to them later."

" nu-ua stark, its time we show shooter whos boss."

i start to head down the hill. my friends still staring at me from behind.

" what are we going to do stark?"

" back him up."

stark started to run down the hill after me, sage followed him. shooter spoted us coming down the hill. he picked up speed. i wached him pick up speed.

" come on." i said as i started to run. once we got closer to the girls i axidently slisped on a pach of ice. as i fell down, i slid all the way down to the shore and nocked down echo.

" ahhh."

echo fell on top of me.

" NYX!!!" stark and sage said running down the hill after me.

" ECHO!!!" sisi and lasie said scared.

" au." she looked at me confused, then she got up, i got up after her.

shooter and his friends started laphing.

" ha-ha, nice fall nyx." shooter started to walk around me.

i growled to myself. staark and sage came running up.

" nyx you ok?"

" yeah i'm fine." i turned to echo. " are you ok, it was my fault."

echo started to wag her tail. " yeah i'm fi......."

shooter interupted her. " yeah it is your fault mutt."

" grrrrr, you know shooter why don't y....." i was interupted by someone far away.

" ECHO, SISI, LASIE COME ON."  i look to see balto and jenna.

echo perked up her ears.

" auu we godda go, by guys."

" see you guys latter." sisi and lasie say leaving.

i look at echo. " ah by echo" echo looks back at be.

" by nyx." she said walking past me and shooter.

" by echo." shooter says smiling.

once they where out of sight shooter turns to me.

" listen up nyx shes mine." as he turn around he wacked me with his tail.

" grrrrr." my  hair brisled up  i was about to run after shooter but stark grabed me by the scruff. sage tunred around.

" come on myx lets go."

" grrrr, fine." we turned and headed for home.

the next morninig i woke up early to see if i could find echo. when i finaly found her, she was out side of town talking with sisi, laise, sage and stark. i went troting up to them.

" hey guys whats going on?" i asked looking around for shooter and his gang. sage cocked his head and started waging his tail.

" relax, there at a race." sisi said smiling.

i look back at echo smiling.

" again sorry about ramming into you."

" its ok, besides it was quite an entarnce."

strak looked at sisi, sage, and lasie, they looked back at stark. stark noded his head, i cock my head wondering what they where doing. they where about to sneek away untill me and echo stoped them right in there tracks. as the wind started to howl it started to get colder.

" hey guys maybe we should go to the boiler room." stark said shivering.

" no shooter most problably there by now." 

the wind slowed and wolves started to howl. stark, sisi, sage and lasie had there tails between there legs and then they started to whine. echo and i didn't seam as frightened. i dicided to go see where the noise came from, but as i started to walk i looked back at sage and stark. they noded there heads and started walking with me. we started to run the girls came running with us. we ran for alittle and then we dicied to head back into town.

" you guys are quick."

" yeah so are you."

we complamented each other as we started to walk  back into town.

" by guys."

" seeya."

we all said our gooed byes as we headed home. the next morning i went looking for echo. sadly i found shooter insted.

" well would you looky here, nyx hows it going tripping infront of echo?"

" grrr." i ignored him and kepted on looking. shooter growld at me for ignoring him. i didn't really care, so i kept on walking. i found sisi and lasie out side of the boiler room.

" HEY SISI LASIE!!!"

sisi and lasie looked at me smiling.

" hey nyx."

when i walked up to them, lasie looked behind me and put her ears back angrily.

" what is it." i asked.

" shooter." sisi said smerking.

sage and stark found us just in time. shooter was acouple of feet away. i turned to sisi and asked her where echo was she told me that she was with jenna. i sighed in reelef thankfull that she wasn't there for now.

" hey lasie wheres echo?"

" i don't know shooter shes most problebly with balto."

" humph." shooter turns around and walks away but before he left he wacked my face with his tail.

" grrr, what makes you think your better then any of us."

he stops and looks back at me angry.

" well for one i'm not a half-breed, nyx"

" shooter leave them alone."

" hu?"

sudenly neo came out of nowhere.

" grrr, realax brother we're not doing anything."

"likely, dad wants us back home know."

"grrr, fine." as they turned around to leave shooter turns his head to me.

" this isn't over nyx."

a gun shot for a dog race sounded in the distance.

" hu." i looked up in the air. sage got all worried when he reamembered there was a race today.

" oh-no the race, we forgot about the race nyx." sage looked at me worried.

" calm dow that was only a test, but you guys do need to head out there is a race today."

" yeah and its againts shooter and the other sled dogs in nome."

" great so will see you guys there." i asked sisi.

" of course, we wouldn't miss it for the world."

me, sage and stark ran off to find our team mate and preapare for the race. sisi and lasie went to go find echo. at the race me and my team where ready to beat shooter no matter what. as the gun shot for the race to begin rang in my ears, we were off. as we where closing the last leg of the race my team and i were head to head in with  shooter and his team. we whereone mile away frome the finish line when we saw the one mile marker. as we entered into town we were still head to head with shooter. the finish line was close and echo was there cheering us on. shooter dicided to pull a fast one and triped me right befor we had mad it through the finish line. as i fell my team fell with me. my colar got unhinged when i nodiced, shooter was still a bit far from the finish line. i got up and shook off the snow. i saw as shooter and his team ran through the finish line, sisi, echo and lasie came running up to us. i didn't want to talk so i walked right past them and left.

" nyx." echo said softly to herself.

as i ran to the outskurts of town i found myself lost in the woods, i panicit so i cepted on running. that was a bad idea, i found a cave to stay in for the night. i wondered what was going on with stark and the others. were they looking for me and was echo with shooter congraulating him on the race. all i could think of was that shooter was making me look bad and echo was laphing with him.

 the next morning i found myself looking for town, except for i was headed in the wrong direction. as i walked around for awile i heared dogs barking, i looked behind me and saw some dogs about amile away from where i was. as i took a closer look i saw stark and the others looking for me. i ran tward them jumpig over every obsticale in my path, as i got closer and closer i axidently triped on a log and fell slideing down to them. as a huge bowling ball i ramed into them on axident.

*crash*

" AHHH."

" nyx nice strike." sage said laphing.

" ha-ha."

as we got up and shook off the snow echo came up to me. she smiled.

" he-he i'm glade we found you nyx, i was kinda missing you running into me."

i looked at her with my head cocked smiling, i walked up to her and licked her on the cheek, i steped back and smiled. she looked at me and nuged her nose againts my head.

" finaly, gosh i thought you two were going to keep us waiting foever for this." the others said happily.

i turned to them, and looked at them.

" hey a we better leave these two alone."

"yeah."

they left us alone, and went back to town. i turned back around to echo and smiled. she smiled back.

" hey, come on i want to show you somtheing."

" hu."

she came behind me and pushed me twards the woods, then she came up beside me. i leand my head on hers and she smiled. we found a nice spot to lay down and look at the moon. that night we made our way into town, sage and sisi came running up to us, as they panted they where trying to say somtheing. once sisi cought her breath she looked up at echo.

" lasie and stark disapeared, when we where comming back to town."

" what!!" we both said.

" they where right behind us in the woods."

" do you think they got lost?"

" nahh, stark knows the woods." i said to calm them down, but in my head i was thinking " we gatta find them fast.

echo and the others turned to me. i looked at them not knowing what to do. then i got a brite idea.

" hey what bout balto he can help us."

" my grandfather wouldn't be able to pick up there sent now that fresh snow has fallen." echo said reaminding me that fresh snow had fallen.

" then how are we going to find them?" i asked her.

sisi thought for a moment.

" we retrace our steps and find them."

i agreed with her, but to find them that would mean spliting up and that was dangerous anouph if you didn't know your way around.

" alright then that means will have to split up, echo you come with me, sage you go with sisi, what ever happens stay together got it."

" got it!!"

" and tahats the end of part1"
