Balto padded across the boat. He stared at Nome and sighed.

"Balto?" Borris approached him. "What are you doing out here."

"I've gotta get Jen," Balto said. He jumped off of the boat and ran into town. He slowly padded to her house and scratched ast the door.

Rosy opened it. "Balto!" She flung her arms around his neck. "You're back! I haven't seen you in forever! I like you better than nasty old Steele!"

"Balto." Jenna padded to him. "How are you?"

"Well. You?" Balto hated being formal with her.

"Very well. Shall we leave, then?" she looked at him with a peircing gaze. Balto nodded and they set off.

"Jen, we don't have to be so formal. It's hanging out as friends, not a date. And even if it were, since when do we act like this?" Balto looked at her then at the ground.

"Ok. I understand. I thought it was best but maybe not." Jenna looked up. "We're here, right?"

Balto looked at her with pure joy. "You remembered?"

"everyone has to remember something like this." Jenna waited by the locked door and Balto undid the hinges. He padded inside, Jen behind him.

They came ot a large cob web and he flicked his tail through its middle.

  "After you," he said.

"Balto," Jen began but she changed her mind. Balto hoped that she couldn't sense his desperation.

He led her to the broken bottles and Jenna sat down. balto positioned them, causing them to look like the real Norhtern Lights.

"What do you think?" he asked.

  "They're beautiful," Jen replied.

"Is it enough for you to give me a second chance?" Balto looked at her, love filled in his eyes. how could she not see it?

"No! You said it wasn't a date!" Jenna stood up.

"It's not! But this is my way of asking!" Balto kept her gaze.

"Then you have a bad way!" Jenna snapped.

"I love you, Jen," Balto said, desperate.

"Stop! Just stop!" Pain was in her eyes. "Leave me alone! You don't know anything about love! Sorry, Balto, but I have to go." Jenna began to run through the tunnel.

"Jenna!" There was no response. Balto began to follow her, tail drooping. Maybe hope was lost.

Dun, dun, dun. Just kidding. To be continued.... Can Balto get her back? How will he cope with what she said?
