A shadowed object.

Thats what I've been called since I was born.

Did they ever give me a chance?  No.

I was labled at birth.  They decided what I was. They decided that I was useless.  They decided I needed to be punished.

My life started out normaly.  I was helpless the first few weeks of my life and depended on my mother.  It wasen't until my eyes opened that I started noticing things.

The first thing: My mother was upset. And it had something to do with me.

Mother lived with two other females, and they exsplained what was wrong with me.

At the time, I didn't think much of it.  I was too woried about mother.

After I had "opened" my eyes, mother had begun acting strange.  She never talked and she wouldn't leave the corner where we slept.  She ignored me.

I was scarred.

Mother's friends tried to get her to do something, but she wouldn't.

After I could walk, I was able to convince mother to teach me about herbs.  But I had to bring the herbs to her, because she still wouldn't leave the corner.  She taught me some, but I mainly had to learn it all on my own.

Time passed. I grew, and mother didn't inprove.  Mother's friends, Wendigo and Carmondy, looked after me.  They told me mother was depressed, and it'd just take time for her to get better.

But they didn't tell me why mother was depressed.

That, I learned from Carmondy's daughter.

Rheta.

Rheta was younger then me, and we barely knew eachother, despite the fact that we lived together.

She told me.

My father was a popular dog, and he used females.  My mother caught his eye, and he gained her trust.  Then he left.

He aprently did the same with Carmondy, for Rheta said her father, was mine as well.  We were half-sisters.

That part didn't bother me so much.  It was the fact that my father used my mother, and didn't care of the outcome.

I was a product of a one night stand in.

I wasen't suposse to happen.

No wonder my mother wanted nothing to do with me....

I was a acident.

A flaw.

A mistake.

Resetment for my father grew as time went by, until it became nothing but pure spite.

Thankfully, Mother started recovering from her depressed state. She began walking around the house again, and talking.

By now, I was old enough to walk around town.

But I kept to the forest.  It was...less judgmental.

News of who my father was had reached the town gossips ears, and word spread like wildfire.

Whenever I went to town, others would offer to help me do something simple, like cross the street.  I accepted their help at first, thinking it was just dogs being friendly.  Then I found out they did it out of pity.

I began to grow anoyed with their "help".  I didn't need it, I was perfectly capable of doing things myself.

But while some pitied me, others wanted to punish me.

I was aware of the looks some gave me.  Looks of pity, and looks of resentment.  I didn't care.  They could think what they wanted.

Then one day, a dog aproched me.  She said he knew who my father was, and that I didn't belong.

I told her I didn't care what she thought of me.

And then I left her.

She aproched me sevral more times, each time saying I didn't belong and needed to stop showing my face in public.

Each time I told her I didn't care.

The sixth time she aproched me, she told me this was my final warning.

Again, I told her I didn't care.

She didn't aproch me for awhile after that.  I was glad.

I never told anyone of her or her threats.  I didn't need help handling some blow-headed idiot.  At least, thats what I had thought.......

Mother was back to her self, and I helped her with her herb collecting.  I always went alone, for I didn't need help.  I could smell out the herbs my mother wanted.

It was then, I was punished.

I had been out late, and I could tell by the cool air that it was past sunset.

I was making my way across the field behind the house that lead to the forest.

I heard something in the grass.  I stopped and listend.  Nothing.

And then there was a rush of wind and I was rammed aside.

I heard a voice as I got back up.  It was the voice of that dog.  It was her.

I could smell the scents of four other dogs.  Males.

She stood in front of me, and started talking.

"You should have heeded my warnings." she said.  "I told you a error like you didn't belong.  No wonder your mother is so dissapointed with you.  Of all the things Derrek could have given her, he gave her a blind, useless, mistake."

I felt my anger rise with every word she said.  I wanted to attack, but common sense told me not to.  She had four bodyguards.  I had just me.

"Derrek has left his mark with many.  But, I belive you, are the worst one yet."

Her tone was icy, and I felt the air chill.

"Your nothing but a object, destined to lurk in the shadows forever."

Her next two words made my blood run cold.

"Show her."

I heard rushing pawsteps, and then I was rammed aside once more.  As I tried to stand, teeth latched onto my scruff and I was thrown.  As soon as I landed, fangs dug into my leg.  I kicked them away, but another pair grabbed my shoulder.

I struggled, but they were twice my size, and I couldn't fight them off.  Soon, I was exzausted, bruised, and bleeding.

"You have his blood in you.  If that was all that was wrong with you, you'd never have heard of me.  But you have his blood, and your a mistake."

It was then I understood.  I wasen't being punished because of something I did.

I was being punished because of who my father was,

and that I was blind.

"I won't kill you, but heed my warning this time, stay in the shadows."

And with that, I heard them leave.

I tended to my wounds myself, using the herbs mother had taught me.  Anger seethed from me the entire time.

I'd been mocked before.  And pitied.

All because of my father, and that I was blind.

Why did it matter so much?

Why did I need to be punished, simply because I had my fathers blood and was flawed?

Why does everyone have to deiced if I should be pitied or punished?

Why didn't they treat Rheta like this?

Why.......

why can't they just leave me alone?
