Part 2, enjoy.

‘ No, it’s not that. Before we leave I need to have a meeting with a pack and I need you to come with me. Talon has been keeping something from you and the pack. He might of started a war.’ Rex said.

‘ A war?! With who? How?’ Storm asked.

‘ A couple wolves from a neighbouring pack attacked Talon a few weeks ago. They said that he would only live if you came back to them. He just ran away, said nothing to them. I just wanna know, where are you from?’ Rex asked.

‘ I left all of that behind me. I was a loner for a while. I promised to never bring those horrid memories back, or I might kill everyone.’ Storm answered.

‘ Then I’ll say it. You’re from the Shadow pack, my enemies. They killed many wolves, dogs and wolf dogs. I can’t stop this war alone; I need you to help me.’ Rex said.

‘ I locked those memories away for eternity. I was taught to kill wolf dogs, but I was forced. I didn’t want to kill, so after my parent’s death, I left home. Became a loner until I saw you; I wandered if you were from the Shadow pack and was looking for me, but I was wrong. I wander what will happen if I do go back.’ Strom replied. 

‘ They won’t hurt you, I promise. Once I stop this war, we’re gonna find Sitka.’ Rex said. He knew that he probably couldn’t keep that promise.

‘ Will you keep that promise though? Will he really be safe, Rex?’

‘ Blue Sun, I can’t keep that promise. I could save the pack, but lose Storm forever. We’ll have to wait and see.’ Rex replied as he walked past Blue Sun and to the others. She soon walked back and ate with her pack.

The next morning, the pack was still sleeping, except for Talon who was sitting by his tree. Rex woke Storm up as Talon disappeared. They quietly followed him, but they soon stopped as black wolves came towards Talon.

‘ The answer’s still no. No Storm, no war, no nothing. I may be blind, but I can still see the future, and there’s no fighting in it.’ Talon said.

‘ I think you mean, no Storm, no peace.’ A black wolf said. It was same wolf from the day before.

‘ That’s Nukpana, the one on Talon’s right is Abaddon, the one on his left is Matchit and the one behind him is Usha. Their names match them.’ Storm whispered. All of the wolves were black like Storm.

‘ They’re all the names of some kind of villain of the past. How long has that been going? Since Aniu had pups?’ Rex asked.

‘ Yeah, when they discovered what she had been hiding, then they all changed their names.’ Storm answered. The Shadow pack members were still talking to Talon.

‘ Did you know that Talon was blind?’ Rex asked, but Storm didn’t bother answering.

‘ You could just surrender. Then you wouldn’t have to lose anyone, but then, other packs might want to crush you.’ Abaddon said. Rex couldn’t wait any longer and pushed Storm and himself out of hiding.

‘ There shall be no war nor shall anyone surrender. I’m stopping this whether you like it or not.’ Rex said standing proud with Storm next to him.

‘ You brought Storm too. How sweet.’ Usha said sarcastically.

‘ I’ve joined another pack, started a new life. I’m not running away anymore. I’m finally facing my fears.’ Storm said.

‘ I could bring my daughters here and stop you. I think Nita would like to finish you off, since she was nearly killed by Zack. He was quite weak though, could’ve done a bit more training.’ Rex said.

‘ Rex, the feared one. You would have to speak to our alpha before action.’ Matchit said.

‘ There is no alpha. You’re the little pups that ran away from the sight of Creek, killed now because of your little pack. You only have each other; you’ve got nothing left. You make others think that there are more of you, but the Shadow pack has lost. We’ve won.’ Rex explained.

‘ You may have seen through that, but you can’t see through this!’ Nukpana shouted as he suddenly attacked Talon.

Rex jumped onto him and sliced his teeth through his throat. Storm warded the others off by biting and snapping at their legs. Nukpana choked slowly and let go of Talon as he dropped to the ground. Talon gasped for air as Rex helped Storm. He ran back to the pack without a thought of helping anyone. As he ran, Rex crunched Usha’s legs severely as Storm bite into Matchit’s spine. They lay on the ground next to Nukpana as Rex choked Abaddon and Storm dug into his back. Soon he dropped to the ground and the victors walked away from the battleground.

Back at the clearing, Talon was telling everyone of what he had saw and experienced as Rex and Storm entered.

‘ Talon is telling the truth. The Shadow pack is gone, but a new one might rise. What he is not telling you is that he is a coward. He ran off when we were fighting for our lives. Thunder, Star Field. I think you should know something about your son.’ Rex began.

‘ Rex, please no. Don’t tell them! Please!’ Talon begged. Roma walked up to him and put her paw around him.

‘ Your son has a problem. A sight problem. He’s blind!’ Rex exclaimed as Talon hung his head and the pack dropped their jaws.

‘ He can’t be blind! He would be dead by now!’ Star Field exclaimed.

‘ How did this happen?’ Thunder asked. Talon looked away from his parents.

‘ On my last hunt, my vision went blurry and I fell down a small hill. When I woke up I couldn’t see anything, I told Roma and she helped me. I’ve used my other senses to keep myself alive, but I can also sense vibrations through my paws so it’s like I can still see.’ Talon explained. Star Field walked up to him and lifted his head. She saw his grey and cloudy eyes and couldn’t believe it. She and Thunder nuzzled him until he could handle no more.

‘ Why didn’t you tell us?’ Thunder asked.

‘ I was afraid that you would either overprotect me or reject me. Either way, it would be bad.’ Talon answered as he pushed himself away from his mother and father.

‘ We would never reject you, Talon! Neither would we overprotect you.’ Star Field said. Rex then remembered Sitka.

‘ We need to start looking for my own son.’ Rex said, interrupting the family moment. He gave them different instructions and different orders like he was alpha for a moment. They set out as soon as Rex finished speaking. He led them north, towards Kiana and his son.

A week passed before the pack was anywhere near the mountain. Sitka and Shakira had been preparing to leave Ben so they could start heading home. They walked up to him and it seemed like he could tell what they were going to say.

‘ You wanna go home, don’t ya?’ He asked. Sitka nodded his head and Ben patted it. ‘ Well, I’m not stopping ya. I hope you get home safely and Shakira, try avoiding sleeping on your own. You two need each other to survive.’

The duo barked and Ben stroked them goodbye. He then opened the door and they walked out. He waved to them as he closed the door. They ran south, towards Nome and Rex. The duo and the pack ran towards each other without knowing how they would meet.

A few more days flew by as Rex and the pack came closer to where Sitka and Shakira had fallen. They stopped at a mound and rested.

‘ Sitka knows my howl better than anyone else’s. He’ll be able to find me easier if I call him.’ Rex thought as he walked to the top of the mound and howled loudly.

A few miles away, Sitka’s ears twitched at the sound of a distant howl. Shakira watched him and as listened.

‘ That’s my dad! I’d know his howl anywhere!’ Sitka exclaimed. They ran towards the source until Rex was in their sight. ‘Dad!’

‘ Sitka! Shakira!’ Rex shouted as he stopped howling. They stood at the bottom of the mound as Rex stood at the top. He ran down as Sitka ran up and they rolled down together. ‘ It’s like I haven’t seen you in years!’

‘ Aren’t you gonna introduce us?’ Storm asked as he and the pack stood on the mound. They walked down and Shakira started to feel uneasy about having so many wolves around her.

‘ Don’t worry Shakira. These are old friends of mine. The alphas are Storm and Blue Sun; the brown and white ones are Star Field, Saius, Salen, Salon and Samba. The other black ones are Thunder, Taeko, Takara, Talora and the black and white one is Talon. The grey and white one is Lightning, his kids, Rosa, Roma, Julie and Julliard are behind him and the brown one is Ronda,’ Rex said. He caught his breath and started again. ‘ Guys, this is my son, Sitka and his girlfriend Shakira.’

‘ Sitka, you should know, your father is a great wolf dog. You should be honoured to have him for a dad.’ Talon said. Rex smiled as he overheard.

‘ I really want to say thanks for helping me find Sitka. If you see Nita or Lisa, tell them that everyone misses them and we’ll be happy once they can come visit. Hope you have a safe journey home.’ Rex said. The friends then ran south and went separate ways once they reached the packs territory. Rex, Sitka and Shakira went west while the pack went southeast.

A dawn and dusk later, Rex stepped out of the trees shadows and into the rising sun. They could see Nome only a couple minutes away and home. The sun rose higher and made the sea glisten. They walked into town and into new adventures.
