“What’s going on Kiko? Lithium?” Tay-Tay wasn’t much of a gossiper but she would gossip if she were asked what she knew about something….

Kiko smiled at her friend and Lithium raced over to her and jumped around her. Kiko giggled and watched Lithium and at her friends shocked face.

“I’m going to be a father!” Lithium pranced. Tay-Tay widened her eyes and looked at Kiko. Kiko giggled and looked at Tay-Tay. She gasped and ran to her good friend nuzzling her all over.

“I can’t believe it!” She said amazed. “It’s Lithium’s right?” She asked smiling at her friend. Kiko nodded which made Tay-Tay even more happily. She knew Kiko loved Lithium and Tay-Tay really liked Lithium as a mate for Kiko.

“Omigod!” Tay-Tay said smiling at her friend. “I need to tell everybody! Is that Ok with you?” she asked Kiko, who only nodded and smiled at her friend.

“Tell whom you want! Let the whole world know!” Lithium cheered to anyone. Kiko giggled and nodded in agreement.

“You can go ahead. Let the word out.” Kiko said smiling at her, Tay-Tay smiled and bounded away. Lithium chuckled and calmed down a bit. He walked over to Kiko and nuzzled her lovingly; Kiko smiled and nuzzled back then started towards the outskirts of the town.

“Whoa, Whoa! Where do you think your going?” He asked stepping in front of her, she paused and smiled at him.

“Oh come on, you can’t possibly think that I will hurt the pups by going to the outskirts.” Kiko said in a flashy tone. He shrugged and forced a smile at her.

“Well, I guess…” She interrupted lithium.

“I’m not even showing yet Lithium.” Kiko assured beginning to walk towards where she was headed. Meanwhile while Tay-Tay was spreading the town about Kiko’s pups it was first to go to Chief, the ex-mate of Kiko. He felt furious, all of his muscles tensed at the thought of Kiko and Lithium being together. Even some of Chief good friends felt hatred against Lithium.

“I can’t believe her!” Chief spat annoyed at his former mate. His two good friends nodded in agreement and looked at each other. “And guess what, I’m going to split them up, Kiko Will be mine again.” He huffed evilly.

“How will you do that boss?” A Doberman asked, Chief looked at him and scoffed.

“I will get rid of the problem.” He answered simply pushing past the two and walked out of the doggy door of he police station. He had a plan, but the plan would send his own self to be crucified…

                                     3 Months Later                                

“So would you like this bed big girl?” Asked her owner Alicia, Kiko smiled and barked happily and Alicia took the big brown basket and red cover off the rack and put it into her basket and went on looking through out the dog store to find what she could buy. Kiko smiled and walked along with her master. She sighed as she thought of Lithium. She didn’t think bad of him, she just couldn’t wait to see him.

“Well, well, well, lookie who I found.” Kiko froze, and then thought for a moment about the deep voice that was behind her. ‘Wait is that my…?’ She turned around and barked happily beginning to nuzzle the male behind her.

“Dominic!” She smiled as he nuzzled her back and they separated from each other. “Oh, brother I haven’t seen you in ages!” She said sitting down keeping a close eye out for Alicia. Dominic smiled and sat down with her. He wagged his brown tail and smiled up at her. He was a tall dark brown German shepherd. He had three regular color brown paws, a brown muzzle, and a brown back and neck, along with his ears and whole tail. He was a handsome shepherd and last of what Kiko knew he was single.

“Well, maybe not in ages but for a while.” He said trailing off a bit. He chuckled and widened his eyes as if he had forgotten something but then remembered when he took a look at his sisters’ stomach. “Well, another reason I came was to see you and I had to come here but…I wanted to congratulate you on our new family.” He said smiling at her. Kiko had almost forgotten about her being pregnant with pups. She smiled at him when she looked back up from looking at her bulging stomach and got up again nuzzling him.

“Yeah, well my owner brought me up here to find me some new things, like to lay on, and stuff like that.” She said turning back to her owner. She turned back to him and smiled faintly. He didn’t seem to notice.

“So who is the Lucky guy?” He asked in a preppy girl way that made Kiko laugh. He had a way with the girls.

“Well, his name is Lithium. You might have heard of him.” Kiko said smirking at the thought of why he might have heard of him. “He had gotten in a fight with a K-9 police dog…well actually my previous mate.” She said as Her brother gasped. “Don’t worry! He didn’t start it, Chief did.” She heard Dominic sigh a relieved sigh. “He was suspended, I think he is actually back on the force now. I don’t know though.” She said looking up at him.

“Wow, That was weird, must have been scary for you though.” Dominic said smiling a bit. “Do you think Chief will go after him.” Kiko shot a look up to him. She hadn’t thought of that that one. She shook her head and spoke.

“I don’t know..” She sighed and turned to her owner then back to her brother.

“Come on girl!” Alicia called to Kiko and began to walk towards her when some one walked out of an aisle and bumped into her. “Oh! I’m so sorry!” She said helping the man pick up his items.

“Oh, it’s perfectly fine.” He said smiling at her. Though he did a second glance and asked. “Alicia? Is that you?” He smiled and looked at her dog then back to her. Alicia smiled and answered.

“Yeah, I’m Alicia.” She said looking at his dog. “Kiko come on.” She said.

“You don’t remember me? I know your husband, he works with me up at the airport.” He said to her, hoping she would remember. “His name is Scott Ramson.” He said patting his leg to get Dominic to come up to him. She nodded and smiled.

“Oh, Bill! Isn’t it?” She asked as he nodded. “How’s the misses?” Alicia asked him patting Kiko’s head. He nodded and smiled at her but then frowned.

“She isn’t doing too well..” He said to her sighing a bit. Dominic whined and nuzzled his owners leg. Alicia half gasped.

“Oh! I’m so sorry..” She said sadly. Her watch began to beep and she looked at it. “Oh great.” She muttered looking back up at Bill. “I’m so sorry, I would like to stay but I have to go and take Kiko here to the vet.” She said putting her leash back on Kiko. She sighed and nuzzled Dominic.

“I’ll see you around..” He said nuzzling her back. She smiled followed her owner out of the dog store. Alicia sighed and opened the door for Kiko and helped her in. Kiko laid down in the backseat and sighed resting her eyes closing them. Alicia got in the driver seat of the little red car and started it up, turning the country station up and singing the words with a soft tone. She put the car in drive and started out on the highway, the vets shop was a ways away. She hummed to the music and when that song finished she turned the station to a mixed channel, with rock, country, rap, etc. A song came on; a country song came on, a sad country came on, Whisky lullaby. It made Kiko wake up and sigh a little. Alicia was still on the highway and Kiko rested her head again and went to sleep.

        ‘HONK!’ yelled a horn, Alicia’s horn. The sound of Alicia squeal rang through out the car and Kiko’s ears. She awoke with a jolt and Alicia swirved, Kiko gasped and landed on the floor. She began to pant as she looked around. Alicia screamed again and swerved again trying to avoid getting hit by an eighteen-wheeler. ‘Crash!’ Kiko gasped as she was slung up front and into the dashboard hitting her stomach on the floor, immediately killing the puppies she held in her. She was knocked unconscious by the next impact. Screaming then silence followed after that…

               Only Hours Later

Lithium slept peacefully in his home next to his humans’ feet in the living room. He woke up and looked at the T.V. ‘Charmed?’ He thought to himself getting up and stretching. ‘Kiko’s been gone for as while…wonder where she is…’ He thought to himself again hearing his name being barked out side his home. He perked his ears and walked to the door and walked through the doggy-door. He watched as a little rat terrier ran in circles.

“What?!” Lithium barked at the terrier, who stopped and listed all his information.

“Well, Kiko, your mate has been in a terrible car accident! She is at the vets!” He explained quickly. Lithium gasped and he continued. “I’ll show you!” He said beginning to run after the little terrier. He feared greatly for his mate. They got there about 5 minutes after the little dog had barked at Lithium’s door. Lithium growled and scratched at the door. It opened and he ran in to see his mate. He ran in room, after room, after room, and then…he found her. There lay on a silver and high table was his mate. He gasped and ran to her. She seemed to be barely breathing and she was asleep.

“Oh, Kiko…” He sighed as a tear came to his eye and Scott walked in the door to find Lithium. He gasped at both the sight of Lithium being there before him and the sight of his beloved dog on the table. He had seen his wife but there weren’t supposed to be any visitors. The doctors had said she was on her deathbed. Scott ran to his dog and pet her on the head and patted Lithium as well. Lithium whined and Scott had tears coming to his eyes. A doctor walked in the room and walked towards them and cleared her throat then spoke.

“Kiko, is her name right?” The doctor asked as both Lithium and Scott nodded. “Well, as you know she was pregnant pups.” The doctor said. Scott spoke and shook his head. Lithium didn’t like the sound of it either.

“She has a miscarriage?” He asked the doctor nodded and sighed. Lithium gasped and looked back at Kiko and began to cry, tears streaming down his face. “Well, will she be okay?” Scott asked with a sad tone. The doctor just stood there and cleared her throat again and spoke.

“She should be, if she doesn’t rest then she might have a relapse and she might never heal, causing us to have to put her down.” Scott sighed as a tear slid down his cheek. He would more then likely loose his wife and possibly his dog. “You know, we had surgery done on her and some how, out of all the surgeries I’ve done on pregnant dogs I have to say this is the first one that I have ever seen something like this.” Lithium and Scott didn’t know if it was going to be the best part of the whole thing or not but waited for her to finish. “Anyway we found something in Kiko’s body. Usually when a dog is pregnant and she has a miscarriage we do surgery and the pups are crushed, though when we went into her we saw one that was not crushed. Only one. I don’t know if the puppy will be a miscarriage but we sewed her back up and now she is sleeping.” (I really doubt that is what they do…but hey..I just made it up Ha…so if you really know then tell me what happens.) Lithium had a faint smile. There was some hope in him and kiko having a family. Kiko started to move her head and the vet took her off the table and into another room. The new room the three were in seemed to be more quiet then it was in the other room. Lithium smiled as Kiko smiled up at him.

‘Lithium…I’m sorry…’ She whispered no energy in her. Lithium smiled as a tear slid down his cheek and he shook his head nuzzling her.

‘No…you shouldn’t be sorry…’ He said to her, she smiled faintly. Lithium curled up around his still half pregnant mate. He felt so bad about what had happened to her. ‘We..’ He didn’t want to tell her what the doctor had said about possibly having a pup, but then have a pup and have it die… he felt he needed to tell her anyway. ‘You might still have a pup…’ He said a tear sliding down his cheek. He hoped the pup would survive. Scott’s phone started beeping and he picked it up sitting beside Kiko and Lithium patting her head and back.

“This is Scott.” He answered he listened and he stopped petting Kiko and put his hand to his face and started to cry. “No..no..no…” He whispered as the nurse talked to him on the phone. “It can’t be…” he said tears pouring down his cheek. Lithium already knew what was being said over the phone and he laid here sighing and closing his eyes…only to picture himself in the nightmare that his mate and her owner had been in. he didn’t know what to do. He was just to stay near her and comfort her. They would comfort each other at the same time. When she was well….

                                    3 Days Later                                              

                Kiko had been sent home and Lithium seemed to always be over with her. Scott didn’t mind either. He felt it was good to have another dog around the house. Especially with the loss of his wife, it was a sad time for every one to Alicia’s friends and family it was the same. Even to the humans the dogs seemed to know what had happened to her and were also sad to not have her around the house anymore. The funeral had been set up and there was a date and many people were invited to it, even Bill the man who Alicia and Kiko had seen the day that the accident happened. Kiko’s brother and his owner walked in and Kiko smiled laying in a dog bed that looked exactly like the one that Alicia had bought for her but was more bigger. Dominic smiled and walked over to his sister and nuzzled behind her ear and whispered. “I’m sorry for your loss.” Kiko sighed and nodded. Lithium ran into the room and introduced himself and Dominic did the same. Lithium smiled and curled up beside her. Other people came and Kiko’s mother as well as her father walked into the house and ran over to their daughter nuzzling her all over. They too sat beside her and waited for the next thing to happen. The funeral was not at Kiko’s house but at a graveyard. The dogs weren’t going but they would stay at the house.

                The funeral was over and when you knew it everyone was back at Kiko’s home talking and crying over their loss. Though all seemed to be having a good time, even the criers. Then night came and everyone went home. Kiko’s friends and family, Alicia’s friends and family went too. Lithium was the only one that stayed.

                                   A Couple Months Later                                 

Kiko walked outside and smiled happy to get a breath of fresh air. The morning breeze was a chill to her and she shivered a bit but smiled at it. She awaited Lithium’s arrival. Lithium was now found as a stray of the town cause a while back when his owners left him out on the streets cause they never saw him anymore, so he really had no where to go and was staying at a friends house since Scott wasn’t ready to take care of another dog. A few minutes past and Lithium was there and nuzzling her. He smiled and kissed her cheek. “How are you feeling?” he asked as she lay down near his feet. She had been feeling a little more pregnant then she had been and she smiled.

“It’s getting close.” She said smiling up at him. Scott jumped out of the door and off the porch to his car. Kiko smiled and Scott smiled at her as he drove off. Lithium sighed happily and walked inside. Kiko was close behind him. She went to lie in her bed and felt a pain, she yelped and Lithium came close.

“Are you okay?” Lithium asked nuzzling her. She panted heavily as she laid down deep with in her bed and started to push. She shook her head and spoke roughly.

“It’s coming!”

                It was about twenty minutes and a little brown, black, and white pup lay at her mother’s side. Alive. Lithium was overwhelmed as he nuzzled the little puppy. It was a female. They had to choose a name…a special name…this puppy had been given to them on hope, and Hope would be her name. A couple of months ago where it had been a time of mourn; this was a time of happiness and praise. Scott returned home about seven hours after the birth had happened and He took the puppy to the vet, as well as Kiko.

“Will the puppy be okay?” Scott asked patting Lithium’s head. The same doctor that had seen Kiko before was her permanent doctor now and called them in the back room.

“The puppy will be alright. She is blind but she will make it.” Kiko sighed with relief and smiled at Lithium who did the same. “I want for you to bring her over to me every month. Go to the main office and tell them the date and they will give you a paper on when your date and time will be.” Scott nodded and went up front to get everything done and about ten minutes after Kiko, Hope, Scott, and Lithium where at home. Weeks passed and the put grew to be about five weeks old and she was allowed outside, she got to play with others, and…she was blinded. One day Kiko took Hope out to play with a couple friends and they came to the pub that Lithium and Chief had gotten in a fight at and chief walked out with a female leaning on his shoulder. She smiled and nuzzled him, and then Chief stopped when he saw Kiko and another little pup walking together.

“Well, Look who I found!” Chief said strutting over towards them Kiko rolled her eyes and Hope walked closer to her mother and stopped as well as her mother.

“Hi Chief.” She said and went to walk on but then he stepped in front of her and looked at hope then back to her.

“Long time no talk eh? Well, who is this little lady?” He asked leaning his head towards Kiko and Hope. Kiko growled and snapped at him, then the girl he was with growled and looked at her.

“Leave him alone!” She said. Kiko wanted to bite at her but remained silent and tried to go around them.

“You know I have a son a little bit older then her. Maybe they should hang out together some time.” Chief chuckled as Kiko began to walk behind Hope. This time Chief didn’t bother to go after her and they would encounter each other again…soon..
