Mans Best Freind

"Come on Kodi you're gonna miss it", said Balto nudging to wake him up. "Come on Im trying to sleep" "Come one it'll be worth it", Balto was standing over Kodi just full with energy. "Okay lets go", said Kodi yawning. Then Balto and Kodi went through the forest to watch the sunrise. Before Balto took another step he herd something. "What is it dad" "It souns like some one crying'', Balto said. He sniffed his way to what he was hearing.

  He finally came to what he was hearing. It was a little boy. He looked very scared and alone. "Awww poor kid, wonder where his parents are at'', said Kodi as he walked closely but slowley to the boy. The little boy looke like he was only six years old, he had blonde hair, and had freckles all over his cheeks. The little boy let Kodi stay by his side. "Hey puppy, Im Duke'', he said while petting Kodi. While Kodi was comferting Duke, Balto was sniffing for Duke's parents. "You're a very big dog huh boy'' Kodi barked '' Wow it's like you actually understand me'' Kodi barked again and licked Duke's tears away. Duke was still scared to death. Kodi grew more closer and closer to Duke and helped him up. Kodi grabbed Duke's hand with his mouth and lead out of the forest.

  Balto cam to see that Kodi broguht Duke to his boat. ''Kodi why did you bring him here'' '' Well I couldn't leave him out there could I'' said Kodi. Balto was proud to see his son saving a human's life. Jenna came on the boat and greeted Balto and Kodi. Then she saw Duke crying a little bit. Kodi explained every thing to Jenna. Jenna went to Duke and let him pet her. "Hey girl, wow your fur is really soft'' he said while petting her. Jenna licked his hand to say thank you.

  ''Hey dad this might sound crazy but, I wanna keep the kid here until we find his parents, said Kodi. '' Kodi we cant take care of a human, I mean we dont have any food, no water, and his parents are probably looking for him now'', said Balto. Duke was still crying, Kodi went to Duke and nuzzled him. "Oh mommy why did you have to leave me''. Kodi gasped and let a tear out of his eye. "Oh dad what are we going to do he has NO parents'' '' Then I'll gladley take him as my owner'', Balto said proudly. Kodi thanked Balto.

  A few weeks went by and Duke was running with Kodi on the beach. He and Kodi were like brothers. They always looke out for each other. Jenna came on the beach. ''Hey Kodi how's Duke'' ''He's doing well, we were just running on the beach, the kids faster than me'', Kodi said while panting hardly. He layed down and caught his breath. Duke sat next to Kodi and pet him. Jenna went back to Rosy's house. Duke was still petting Kodi, Kodi licked his face. Nothing could seperate a boy and his dog. Night time came and Kodi brought Duke back to the boat and layed down with him. Kodi lt Duke rest his head on his side, they both fell asleep. "Good boy''. Duke read Kodi's collar and Duke now knew what to call Kodi. Kodi was more than a freind to Duke he was his hero

  Kodi and woke up. He didn't move because he didn't want to wake up Duke. "Hey son, hows Duke'' said Balto whispering. '' He's doing fine'', said Kodi. Duke woke up, and pet Kodi and Balto's heads. Boris woke up and saw Duke. ''Bbbbbbaaaalllllltooooooo what is a human doing here!! !!'' yelled Boris. All Duke could hear was angry honking. He stood behind Kodi. ''Uncle Boris calm down, he's only a pup he aint gonna hurt you. ''What is he doing here'' Well yesterday morning Kodi and I were going throguht the forest, to see the sunrise. Then I herd Duke crying. He told us as if we understood him that his mother passed away. Kodi told me we cant just leave him here, I couldnt let the kid die so we took him in. Boris remember when you saw me all alone, picture Duke as me when I was pup, you let your heart tell you to do the right thing, well listen to what it's saying''. Balto said. Boris let Balto's words sink into him for a while, and finally said '' Oh alright he can stay here, but until he is able to fly on his own he must leave the boat'', Boris said. Kodi licked Boris' beak to thank him.

 Duke went to town. He stole some meat from the butcher's shop. And bought Kodi a new toy. It was a sled plush toy that said ''let's ride freindship''. Kodi loved it right away and licked Duke's face to thank him. Balto ran into a man he looked just like Duke. ''Hey boy have you seen this kid, he's my son'', said the man. Balto gasped and ran to his boat. ''Kodi I think I found Duke's father. He even gave me a picture and look'' Balto showed Kodi the picture, Kodi gasped. ''It's the right thing to do, I know how it is to let go'' ''You're right Dad, he deserves to be with his real family''. Kodi whined to Duke ''What is it buy'' Kodi tugged on his shirt and Duked followed. ''Hey this place lookes so familiar hey here's my house'' Kodi followed Duke, he scratched the door. The man who saw Balto earlier opened the door. ''Duke my boy you returned'' ''I missed you daddy, but thank Kodi here took care of me while I was gone, thank you Kodi I'll never forget you'' Duke gave Kodi one last hug while Kodi licked him one last time, ''And I wont forget you'' Kodi whispered. Kodi went back to Balto's boat almost crying but knew Duke was home where he belonged. He howled to Duke saying ''Goodbye my freind
