"I will be back soon my children." Aniu's last words rang through my head.

My brothers Solen and Aaron, and my sister, Tierran and I were waiting patiently for our mother to return with a belly of food to feed us. We have been playing for about three hours but did not notice until now that our mother was not home yet. It was getting late and I was starting to worry. She was never out this long and the black crescent moon on my chest was burning into me with anxiety along with my white fur standing on end in stress.

Solen was playing with Tierran and Aaron. He stopped and came over to me and whispered, "Did you feel your moon burn again? I felt it on my sun." I looked at his chest; on it was a white sun. Solen had a dark, black pelt that shimmered in the sunlight. His amber eyes twinkled with delight every time he saw me.

"Yes, Solen. I did feel the burning in my chest.' I whispered in return, so only my older brother could hear, "I'm starting to worry, Solen. The last time I felt that was when dad disappeared." My sapphire eyes started to water. And all the worry in me turned to sadness and fear, while the blood in me turned to ice.

"Luna, don't worry. You have me to protect you and Tierran and Aaron to look up to you." Solen whispered into my ear. He rubbed against me, trying to calm me down but, nothing he could say or do would help me calm my fears.

By now Tierran and Aaron noticed Solen and me sitting together and talking. Tierran, my younger sister stopped playing and started to walk oer to join the conversation. Tierran had a brown and dusty colored pelt with a green and blue earth on her chest. With her emrald eyes filled with curiousity she asked, “I felt the burn in my chest again, does that mean-"

Aaron slienced Tierran. We all understood the answer but did not dare admit it. Aaron was the youngest; although he was born last, he acted like he was the oldest. He broke the silence by yawning and sudgessted, "It's dark outside, maybe we should get some sleep."

Solen stared out of our cave, and then said, "You're right Aaron. We should get some sleep."

We all followed him to where we usually sleep. We lay down next to each other. I couldn't sleep and nor, could Solen.

Finally when Tierran and Aaron were fast asleep I whispered to Solen, "She's never coming back is she?"

Solen looked at me, unable to even speak. His eyes said everything to me. He thought long and hard and sighed difficultly, "No. She loved us and still loves us, but she's gone." Solen concluded grimly. That was all we said the whole night.

The next day Solen said, "Tierran and Aaron, We are now alone in this world." Tierran was in pure shock and Aaron seemed puzzled like any other youngest sibling.

"But-" Aaron stammered, "How are you so sure?"

"She did not come back last night." I answered from behind of Aaron and Tierran, "Solen, I also felt it."

"Oh." Aaron looked doubtful still, "Who will protect us and be in charge?"

"I will." Solen declared willfully. "I am first born and there for I am the leader."

"Yes." I agreed with Solen but he was still a pup like me, Tierran and Aaron. Deep inside me i felt upset that Solen was leader. He is smart and strong but he could not hunt or fight, let alone defend himself.

Throughout the day, we starved. Tierran complained and Aaron's stomach growled at being starved. I kept watching the cave entrance waiting for Aniu to come back, but eventually i understood that Aniu would never physically seen or felt again by Solen, Tierran, Aaron or myself; but yet somehow I still feel close to her.

That night it stormed. Lightning flashed across the sky. Thunder shook the earth form above. It seemed that nature was furious with the earth and took it out on that night. I felt the earth rumble in response to the lightning and the rain that fell like icicles against glass.

In the morning it was only drizzling and everyone was asleep. So I left the cave. The morning drizzle was calming to me. Nothing was outside; every animal was in its nest or den. I didn't smell anything. "I guess the rain takes away all the smells." I thought.

I was so amazed by the forest I didn't even notice what or who was in front of me. I crashed right into something. "Ouch! That hurt a lot!" I squealed in daze.

"What the? Who are you?" Demanded a male wolf voice.

I looked up and saw a very dark brown colored wolf. He looked young but, yet somehow old. I was amazed at how many battle scars he had. They were all over him.

"Well!?" He question agitated that i didn't answer he question.

"I...uh....I NEED HELP!!" I spat desperately. My eyes glazed with fear and I shrank to the ground in fear of the fact he might leave me to die alone or even kill me. My eyes were starting to water of never seeing Solen, Tierran, and Aaron.

He noticed how much fear i had. He moved closer to me and sat down next to me and curled his tail around me trying to calm me and comfort me. He then whispered in my ear, "Shhh. Don't cry little one. I shall protect you." He then let out an old and lonely howl. I sobbed until I ran out of tears and got a head ache along with starvation in my stomach.

I stammered, and pouted, "My brothers and sister are still alive."

He nodded and right after that nod, an old  black wolf that almost looked blue, appeared and said with a grinning face, and a smirky voice, "What do we have here Kafé?"

"Huron." Kafé bowed his head. "A lost pup who says she and her siblings need help."

Huron looked at me. He noticed how thin I was and understood what happened to my parents. "Where are your siblings?"

I stammered and then said, "I just went straight from my den. I think I left a scent trail." I then understood that Huron is the alpha and then bowed in respect. "There are three of them." I added.

"Come with me." Huron ordered to Kafé and I.

We followed my scent to my den. Huron had a look of shock for a second and Kafé hesitated. I went ahead of them. Inside i found Solen, Tierran and Aaron still asleep. I nudged them all awake.

Solen saw me and guessed i had something to say but then he saw Huron and Kafé enter. Solen looked shocked and stood up and asked, "Who are you? What are you doing here?"

Huron said "Ask this one." Huron nodded to me.

"Huron is here to help us Solen." I responded to Solen. Solen understood what I meant and went up to Huron and Kafé.

Solen started, "Please help us." He whispered so Tierran and Aaron could not hear, "Our mother loved us but she left us. Our father we never learned who he was."

Huron stood shocked and Kafé’s face was filled with horror. Kafé started, "Huron they will die if we don't help."

Huron picked up Tierran and Kafé picked up Aaron. "It is time to go." Huron said and signaled for Solen and me to follow.

We followed through the forest. It was getting deeper and deeper until we came to a clearing with about five wolves in it. Huron dropped Tierran. "Welcome to the pack." He then said.

I then said, "My name is Luna. The black one is Solen. The brown one is Tierran and the gray one is Aaron."

Huron looked surprised to know our names. Then a beautiful pale gray wolf walked up to us and said, "Huron why do you have these pups?"

"Deni, I will explain later. Can you manage four more?" Huron asked fondly.

"When have I ever turned down any pups for food and love?" Deni asked with a hint of humor in her voice.

"Thank you." I said.

My siblings and I followed Deni to her den. It was smaller than our mother's but this one was more welcoming. Inside I heard other voices.

"Mama! Mama!" they were shouting. When we walked in i saw two younger pups than Solen, Tierran, and Aaron.

"Calm down you two." Deni spoke soothingly. She nudged them to tell us their names.

The older of the two stood up and said, "Hi. I'm Carolina." She was a dark gray wolf that almost looked black. With hazel eyes that were filled with determination.

Solen was the first to reply, "I'm Solen."

The younger one then spoke up. She was brown like Huron, her father, "I'm Echo."

This time Aaron spoke first, "I'm Aaron. It’s nice to meet you."

Then Tierran spoke, "I'm Tierran."

"I'm Luna." I finally said.

Deni then looked paralyzed for a second just satring at my siblings markings, and then said, "Please have some milk; I'm sure your mother would want me to offer some."

Deni hummed everyone to sleep but me. She left us in the den and went outside to meet Huron when the moon was just riseing and everyone was asleep. She thought I was asleep but I couldn't.

Huron spoke, "What did you find out my love?"

I got up and left the den to give them their answers.

"Their names but-" She saw me emerge from the den.

"Luna?" Deni asked.

"I have the answers you want." I said. I was now standing next to them. They both were staring at my crescent moon chest.

"Go on Luna." Huron signaled me to lie down and so i did.

"Our mother, her name was Aniu." I sighed, "She loved us so much. One day she went out hunting and never came back. Our father we never knew." I continued, "I saw the way you acted about her den and our names. Will you please tell me why you had your reactions?" I finally said.

Deni got up and went down to her den and left Huron and I. "Come with me." Huron ordered.

We went and climbed the mountains and stopped at a cliff. He said, "Look. What do you see?"

I looked off the cliff and I saw a huge tree. "That tree." I finally whispered.

Huron nodded and then revealed, "That is the Tree of Hope. It is where Aniu's den was. Your names shocked us because there is a prophecy on you and your siblings. It is said that four pups of different pelts and powers that are born at the Tree of Hope, shall bring either peace to the packs or destroy them. Aniu was a silver soul. She has the power to contact and protect all of wolf kind."

"That means our mother is the Wolf goddess." I concluded in awe, practically paralyzed.

Huron nodded in the moonlight, and continued, "You are the Moon pup. You have the powers of the moon in you paws. Solen is the sun pup. He has the power of the sun in his paws. Tierran is the Earth pup. She has the power of the Earth in her paws. And Aaron has the powers of the sky in his paws. He is the sky pup." He stared at my chest, "That moon turns silver in the moonlight. That means you goddess name is Silvermoon."

"My name is Luna Silvermoon?" I asked.

Huron nodded in the midnight moonlight, you will save the packs. I know it, you and your siblings have the power of the packs in your paws. And with that he howled to the moon and all of the packs joined in from all around, The Midnight Howl, I couldn't think. It then started to softly rain, all I did was listen to my rain pour into my skin and clense my mind.

The days went by faster and faster as my siblings and Arlina and Echo and I grew up. Soon, enough we all learned how to hunt in the woods, catch fish in the river and fight each other using different teqniques like Aaron could alude every bite and kick using his amazing speed while Tierran uses her surroundings to help her fight, and Solen uses his astounding strength to tackle and knock the wind out of his oppounants.

We also learned about the packs that live around the town of Nome. There were three packs in total; The Shadow Peak Pack, full of dark wolves that fended for themselves and were very deadly when in battles and it is said they have never lost a single battle.

There was also the Cliffside Pack, full of wolves that are quick, fast and smart. The Cliffside Pack could catch the fastest rabbits in the forest. They were also very good at climbing the cliffs that surround their campsite. The cliffs are very difficult for attackers to climb through with enough energy to fight. It is almost impossible to win a battle against the Cliffside pack.

And there was our pack, the Shaded Forest Pack. We were unique. The river ran through our forests and gave us a healthy supply of fish. The river also attracted small animals such as rabbits, mice and other rodents. Everything needs water and that includes deer and caribou. Us pups witness our older pack members defeat old or weak caribou and have a feast.

Winters were difficult; my siblings, Arlina, Echo and I learned that very quicky when the snow began to fall. Our winter pelts aren't very thick so we got very cold very fast. We also learned that the river froze. The animals were also all gone and we practically starve if it isn't for the rabbits that still roam the frozen forest.

I however love Winter. I love the cold and the snow. My fur blended in with the snow and I found it fur to sneak up on others while they're completely clueless. That's one thing that made me different from Solen, Tierran, and Aaron. Solen loved the Summer while I could barley breathe from the heat. Tierran loved the Spring a lot. She loved the smell of the flowers bloosoming. And Aaron loved Autumn. He loved the sounds of leaves crunching as we walked on them.

Soon we learned all the costoms of the Shaded Forest Pack and we learned our places in the pack. Tierran and I became very aware of Solen's admariation for Arlina and how much Aaron adored Echo.

One day we were watching Aaron and Echo chatting and Solen and Arlina leaving to go for a walk. I whispered to Tierran, "Isn't it amazing. Aaron has fallen for Echo and Solen's in love with Arlina!"

"Yah. But I wish I had someone." Tierran sighed. I felt the same way about it. I wasn't jealous but I did wish I had that special someone.

"I don't know maybe we'll find that special one in a different pack." I assumed still a little upset that Tierran and I don't have a crush.

"Maybe." Tierran sighed.

"I know we will meet someone." I sighed and looked at Aaron as he looked at Echo with love filling his eyes, "We all deserve love."
