Love You Always

Georgie girl,

I like to dedicate this song to you,

For you had made my life full and true.

I loved you very much,

And I miss your fur and such.

You will always be in my heart,

You were from the very start.

I miss you,

And I miss the days,

When we were side by side.

When I cried,

You were there and made me feel better.

But I remember the days,

When you were happy and strong.

Seeing you like this was never wrong.

I remember,

When I would twine,

My fingers through your fur.

And when you would hop on your three legs,

To play ball hockey!

You go, girl!

And I remember the shine in your eyes.

I still see them shine in the skies.

You are so great!

You made my heart whole,

I’ll never let go.

But then came a day,

When Daddy came home...

Due to a cold,

He lay on the couch.

When you got up to walk,

He would see your legs ache.

So, then Dad confirmed,

To take you to the vets,

To see what was up.

Later that Wednesday,

We were told,

It wasn’t your legs.

It had been your heart,

And when I heard,

My stomach churned,

My shoulders sagged,

And my head bent down,

To hide my anxiety.

I waited, and waited, and waited,

For the results,

From your blood work.

The next day,

We were phoned and told it was cancer.

There was nothing to do.

We cried and cried,

But you were happy,

Of course.

The next day,

We went to the vet,

To let you go.

We were showed to our room,

and the door was shut behind us.

We cried and cried again,

But, you were probably were thinking,

"What’s with all the wailin’?"

The time had come,

When the vet came in,

And told us to say good-bye.

I knelt down,

The tears falling to my knees.

I stroked your head,

And you liked that.

The time came,

When you were giving your shot.

When you were strong,

You looked into my brown eyes,

And you seemed to say:

"My friend, my time has come and I must go. I always loved you, and thanks for the love and care. Do not mourn me, for I am happy at Rainbow Bridge."

"Goodbye Clara... I love you."

You gave all your efforts,

To give one last lick.

You managed to lap at my hand,

The slightest bit.

You looked at me,

And slowly,

Oh, so slowly,

You slunk your head into my arms.

The time with you was over.

We cried and cried once again,

You will be missed,

Our beloved dog.

I always think of you,

And you’re always in my heart.

So, as I write this song,

Like I’ve said,

You’re in my heart,

And I’ll always love you,

And I smile when I feel your warmth.

Goodbye,

My sweet....
