Ginger, Falcon(c) to me
Aggie, Max(c) Whisper
Ginger stood at the house's doorstep, her sunny yellow coat damp from the morning mist. She wanted so badly for her humans to regret what they just did and welcome her back in. Its started to rain but she continued to wait, tears streaming down her face. An hour passed, then another, Ginger finally relized that this was for real and walked away. That was home number six.
All her life Ginger was passed from family to family, never having a home that stuck. Just when she thought she found a family of her own they would move, or have a baby, or an allergy and was left in the streets. All the male dogs on the street would abuse her, so she steered clear of other dogs.
Ginger trotted down a dark alley, she slamed into something. She looked up see a dalmation staring at her. "Hey!" growled the dalmation. Ginger backed away, her tail between her legs. "O...oh,...I.I'm sorry!" Ginger said. The dalmation stepped into the light, her body was very slim. "Forgive me, I didn't mean to snap at you like that." She said sweetly, blushing from embarrassment. "Its okay, happens all the time." Ginger murmured, getting up and walking away.
"Wait," called another voice, much deeper than the dalmation's. Ginger spun around. A tall figure moved closer, finally coming into the light. He was a big dog, but his face was gentle and kind. "Are you alone?" he said. Ginger nodded, afraid that they might hear the tremble in her voice. "I see then," He said again "Would you care to stay with? Unless your expected some where else. Its been rather lonley with just the two of us"
Ginger agreed to go with them, having no other place to go. The dalmation's name was Aggie and the big dog's name was Max, they just became mates recently. Aggie was a bit shy at first but once Ginger got to know her she became a great friend. Max was very kind and understanding and became her friend as well.
Ginger spent most of her day walking in the woods that was close where Aggie and Max lived. She loved nature and that it could never be tamed. The woods gave her new happiness, not the happiness she felt when she was with her old humans but the happiness of being free and never caught.
One day Ginger was strolling through the woods, admiring the cool day. Suddenly, it started to rain and lighting struck near by. Ginger looked up at the sky and sighed, "Great.... I better find a shelter." She spotted a stone cave by a river. She walked in, it was small but at least it was dry. Ginger abruptly jumped back, a large black and tan wolf with ice blue eyes stood right in front of her. She back up slowly, lighting struck very close by, causing her to lunge back forward landing on top of the wolf.
When Ginger opened her eyes, she saw that the wolf's eyes were locked on hers, not even blinking. "Oh, I..I'm..so.so...sorry!" Ginger studdered, getting off of the wolf. "Er..its okay." replied the wolf, whos voice was surprisingly deep and kind. He sat up and peered outside into the pouring rain. "I guess we're going to be stuck here for a while." the wolf said, "We might as well get to know each other,eh?" Ginger nodded, feeling a bit tense. The wolf layed back down, "I'm Falcon and you are.....?" Ginger hesitated , then finally answered. "Ginger" she replied guickly.
There was a long silence, all that could be heard was the faint sound of rain tapping against the cave roof. Falcon yawned, "Well, I'm going to sleep, 'night Ginger." he said, curling up near the cave's wall. Ginger layed down and closed her eyes. She tried to sleep but her mind was spinning with questions that she couldn't answer. Are Max and Aggie worried? Will I see them again? Will the rain cease by morning? Is this "Falcon" one to trust? She thought to herself. Finally, over come by sleep, Ginger faded away into a peaceful slumber......
