I peered around the mighty and oak, and spotted her. The Northern Light's array of colors  made her silver fur coat glisten, the way the wind blew through her fur made me see how silky it was. " Hello. " she said, sitting on the still grass, her back to me. " Hi. "
" Kale right? No need to ask, I've known you my entire life, yet, I've never looked at you as more than a friend, well, now I'm seeing the you I could I love and, well, I love him. "
She was about to turn her head when--

I opened my eyes.
A dream. It had all been a dream. It wasn't the most perfect dream in the world, but it was an interesting dream. There was a girl who loved me, and I think I loved her, but I didn't get to know who it was. Well, maybe it was nothing. After all, dreams are nothing but fake. Unreal. Nothing to look up to.
I stretched out my black body, the only other color on me was the small silver line above my eye.
I stood, and stepped out of my cave. I squinted at first, then I adjusted my eyes to the lighting, and smiled. It was so warm, and peaceful.
My cave was out in the bushes, but the clearing was where the pack would go about their buisness. It was cool.

The clearing was pure green grass, soft, and alive (not dead). There were a few large rocks around, the pups could play hide and seek. Then there was a large rock. it was sort of shaped like a cliff, the pack leader, Duke, would anounce things. Like yesterday, he had announced that his mate had given birth to a litter of seven wolf pups. Everyone cheered. He would announce if they were going to war with other packs, or if someone needed to secure the border. Things like that.

When I walked out of my cave, I was instantly greeted by Sheba. Ah, Sheba.

Sheba is a silver wolf. Her chest is a lighter color of silver, and the end of her tail was a darker color of silver, or grey. She had blue eyes that would glisten in the sunlight. Her smile was a sweet one, that made everyone feel warm inside. For the last few days, whenever she smiled at me, I felt hot inside.

" Kale, you finaly woke up. Come on, we need you! " I nodded and followed her.
They didn't realy need me, they just knew I was one of the best hunters around. I sighed, when I saw everyone thinking of dumb tecniques. They couldn't use the one we always used unless I said we should.
" You guys, everday I say this, and I'm not going to say after this LAST time. The usual tecnique. "
They nodded and got in formation. Realy all they did was created a circle around the caribou and get as many as they could. They always whent for the weaker males.
We whent for the males because majority of the caribou were males, and the females were going to give birth. It was how things worked. Well, we caught three caribous, and of course, Journey had to get a meaty one to show off how strong he was.

Journey. He was one of the strongest in the pack, I was one of the strongest in the pack, the only thing was I didn't look the part, where's Journey did. He had (in my point of veiw) evil black eyes, the thing was they were a DARK DARK DARK blue. He was a white wolf, his tail had a line on one side that was black. And across the side of his face was a large, red scar.
He claimed to have gotten it 'attacking another wold ten times my size'.
Everyone believed him!
To sum up Journey, he thinks he's god's gift to the world.

" Journey, don't you get what 'go for the weak ones' means? " I asked, I saw from the corner of my eye, Sheba, Journey hadn't killed the caribou completely.
" Sure I know what it means, but all my strength just can't go to waste. "
There was no point in trying to get through to him. He was hopeless.
I growled at him, and headed over to the four caribou we had caught. I told each one (except for Sheba) to help carry the caribou.
She started walking by my side, I wasn't helping carry the caribou. I listened to her talk though, and, go figure, she talked about Journey.

" Isn't he so strong? I mean, he caught one caribou that will probaly last the ENTIRE pack a week, maybe even two. "
" You know, he's not all the great! What's so great about some low-life wolf who thinks he deserves the royal treatment, when all he does is show off! "
Sheba raised an eyebrow.
" Are you jealous? " I exhaled.
" Jealous? Me? No! Why would I be jealous of someone who gets all the girls looking at her and- and- " I was jealous, Sheba could see it clear as day. Probaly because she was my best friend. Yeah, she was my best friend. Even though she was a girl, I didn't think there was anything wrong with that, was there?
" Well, deny it if you must, but I think your jealous because he is so close to getting a mate. " I sighed.
" Whatever. "
" Admit it! Your jealous! Come on Kale, you can't lie to me! I can read you like a book! "
" Okay, I'm jealous because he's going to get some lucky girl to be his mate, and I'm going to be stuck with-- " I looked at her in disgust. " you. " she skoffed.
Before I knew what had happened, she tackled me into the bushes. We started rolling around on the ground, when we rolled down a hill.
Sure it was childish, but you were only young once, and we could do what we wanted... when no one was looking.
When I was down rolling, I lay on top of her. My face burned red. I chest fur brushed up against eachother.
I quickly hopped off of her, she stood. " That's a-- steep hill. " she was as nervous as me.

It was wierd.

When I was on top of her, looking into her eyes, I saw her in a different way. Not as some wolf who had good looks that I never noticed because she was my best friend. I saw her as-- let's say-- as beautiful rose.
My heart seemed to burst into flames, my gut tightened up and-- and I think I wanted to--

" Kale? " I looked at her. I had been in deep thought.
" Y-y-y-yeah? "
" How about we forget about that, like, it never happened? " she didn't show any sign that she felt the same thing as me.
" Y-yeah, sure. I mean-- what are you talking about? I don't remember anything happening! "
She giggled, I stared. Her giggle was adorable!
" Well, you got me confused because I don't think that I've ever beent to this hill! "
I stared.
" Okay-- well-- bye! "
She walked away. I was standing there like an idiot.

I felt my chest fur brush up against hers. Her nose touched mine. " Oh Kale! You know I have always loved you! " she nuzzled me. " lets be together forever and ever and ever!! Oh Kale, were going to have pups! Were going to be mates! OH KALE I LOVE YOU!!! "

That was a far fetched fantasy of what I wanted to happen. Well, when I came to my sences, that feeling was gone, but if I dug deep enough, it came back.
Something was wrong.
I couldn'td be in love with my best friend! Sheba wasn't loveable!
I mean, she was loveable, but could you see me and her as mates? I know I couldn't!!

*************************************************************
When night came, I saw Sheba. Then the feeling came. The dreadful feeling-- okay the feeling I loved, but I never wanted to have it again. It was wrong! I did my best to keep in control.
" Hey Kale, after that thing-we-never-even-knew-happened, I didn't get to see you for the rest of the day. Where did you go? "
" I-I-I-I don't know. "
I knew exactly.

After I decided it was wrong to love my best friend, I ran, I ran into Journey. He growled.
" Where is Sheba? " he asked, I looked around.
" Sheba is-- " he leaned over me.
" Where is she?! '
I knew I could take him, but he had never shown any interest of Sheba (not that I knew of anyway) and I was sort of creeped out so...
" She left, she whent to hunt-- to-to-to eat-- to-- walk? " he raised an eyebrow, and walked by me.
I sighed with releif and bolted. I ran through the bushes, and I ran the wrong way.
I came onto a different looking territory. Even the wolves were different. They were--- bigger. That's when I realized, this was the pack North of ours. I whipped around and was about to run into the bushes when I was talked to.

" Who are you? " he asked, I forced a smile, a smile that was scared and made me look like a wimp, at least that's what I thought.
" I am-- I am-- Ka-y-y, Journey. " I couldn't help but smirk (a real one, not my fake wimpy one) " I'm Journey. "
The wolf raised an eyebrow.
" We have no Journey in this pack. " he started circling and studying me. I closed my eyes and fear came.
" You must be the border securer wolf I have heard about. Well, is there any other packs that hold a threat to us? "
I opened my eyes, what was I supposed to say? I wouldn't even mention my pack, we weren't much of a threat, not yet anyways.
" Yes! The pack to the South-- I mean North!! I said North!! " I just about said my, well not MY pack, but the one I lived in, was danger.
" The pack to the North... What are they like? You did spot them didn't you? "

I was panicking now, I had to get out of here, I could get caught that I didn't belong in their pack in a second. Why?
1) I was not so muscular looking, and the wolves I saw were
2) I was a dark color, the wolves I saw were a light color
3) I-- Only two then.
I had to make this all up, what else could I do? This wasn't even 'my' territory.

" They are-- are-- BUFF! "I suddenly said " They got these evil eyes, and there bodys are-- HUGE! Bigger than everyone in this pack! They've got long sharp claws, " I was on a roll, too big of a roll " they talk about killing the clan to the SOUTH of them. "
He was buying it, and that was good enough for me.
" I must tell our leader. " I sighed with releif. He bough it, all of it. He didn't even seem suspicous.
" Yeah, you tell your leader-- our leader, let him know of the danger to the NORTH! He deserves to know! You go, yeah! " when he was far enough away, I whent straight into the bushes.
I ran, and of course I ended up where me and Sheba had our 'moment' down the hill. I sighed, and turned to my right. I whent around a few trees, and took a few turns, through a few bushes and well-- I fell.
Down, down, down, the water soaked into my fur. Of course there was a pond somewhere.
Of course I didn't find my home. I started kicking to the surface. It was too shallow to be a pond, that's when I realized it was a swamp. When I had pulled myself onto he bank and had started shaking myself dry, I started looking for my cave again. Well, truth is, I had been walking AROUND it. I felt embarrased. Well,I stepped through the bushes, and Sheba walked up to me.

" Okay then, well, goodnight. See you tomorrow. " she flashed me a dazzling smile. She was perfect! Why wasn't I her mate?

I entered my cave and instantly collasped. Maybe she did have a crush on me. Girls are good at hiding things, maybe she liked me just as much as I liked her and wouldn't tell me because I was her best friend. I was so happy, and I had no idea how wrong I was. I soon drifted off into a deep, dreamy sleep.
