Balto the dog who saved Nome deid on his boat in 1933. His body was buried next to his beautiful mate Jenna, on a hilltop over looking the town. Thanks to his mother Aniu he, Jenna and all of his pups are now spirit guides. Balto has guided many animals through there darkest moments in the mid-20th century. But this time a human is needed to be guided by Balto.
Seattle, Washington 2010.
It's a normal day for 16 year old Blake. He gets up, eats, waits for the bus and on the bus he stairs at the girl he likes. Her name is Claire and to him she is like looking at the ocean at sunset but she is dating another guy. He has a normal day at school.
Teacher: Ok were about done and tommorow we'll discuss a story that shows us strong will and intelligence.
When the bell rings, as he is leaving he sees Claire and her boyfriend arguing. The boyfirend almost throws a punch at her. Blake sees this and catches the fist before it hits her.
Claire: Blake?
Blake looks over to her.
Blake: Hey, Claire.
He looks to her boyfriend.
Blake: Didn't you mom ever tell not to hit girls Marcus?
Marcus swings another punch at Blake but he ducks. Unfortionitly the punch his Claire and knocks her out. Blake goes over to her but she is out cold. He turns back to Marcus but as soon as he does Marcus hits Blake in the head and knocks him out. Blake wakes up later in his appartment and sits up on his bed. His mom comes in.
Mom: You ok?
Blake: Yeah, I'm fine. What happend to...
Mom: Claire is fine. She's at home. She's cute you know.
Blake: Not now mom. What about Marcus?
Mom: He took off after the fight and he's wanted by the cop's for aggresive assault.
Blake: They'll get him. Let me just rest.
Mom: Ok.
Mom leaves and Blake stays awake and looks at the cealing.
Blake: (thinking) Why couldn't protect her or myself. Why?
Just then a bright light comes from the window. Blake sees this and looks out the window. He looks out for to long and the light make Blake pass out.
A few hours later.
Voice: Hey, you ok?
Blake slightly opens his eyes and sees a brown-gray wolf standing over his face.
Wolf: You ok?
Black: WHOA!!!
Blake squirms to his bed and holds a pillow up to the wolf.
Wolf: Don't worry I'm not here to kill you. If I wanted to I would have already done that.
Blake calms down and sit's down on his bed.
Blake: Ok then. Who are you and how the hell can you talk to me?
Wolf: Well my name's Balto and I can talk to you cause I'm a spirit guide.
Blake: Ok Balto then whats spirit guide?
Balto: Lot of questions. A spirit guide is a spirit that comes to you when it's needed the most.
Blake: I do need help with someting. But...
The door knocks and mom comes in. Blake is shocked but when his mom comes in she does not get alarmed at all.
Mom: I heard you scream.
Blake: I uh... fell out of bed. I'm ok.
Mom: All right.
Mom leaves.
Blake: Ok how did she not see you?
Balto: I can only be seen by those who you want me to see.
Blake: That's cool. So how do you become a spirit guide?
Balto: How about this Blake, you get some rest and on the way to school I'll tell you anything?
Blake: Ok.
Blake goes to sleep and Balto looks out the window.
Balto: What is this place? Or better yet what year is it?
The next morning Blake and Balto are waitng at the bus stop. Balto is looking around and this gets Blake's attention.
Blake: Whats wrong?
Balto: This is odd place. Where are we and what year is it?
Blake: Seattle, Wahington. And it's 2010.
Balto: My god. I've been here before. But has it really been that long?
Blake: What are you talking about?
Balto: I'll tell you every thing later.
Blake has a normal day at school. Around lunch time he is sitting by himself outside his next class. He does this often so he can have some relaxation time. He is sitting on a bench and Balto is lying down next to him. Blake pulls out his Ipod and this catches Balto's eye.
Balto: What is that?
Blake: You don't know what an ipod is? Is this your first time being a guide?
Balto: No i've guided many in that mid-19 hundreds. But this is my first time in this century. So whats an ipod?
Blake: It's a divice that allows you to listen to music.
Balto: That's pretty cool. Can I hear a song?
Blake: Yeah sure?
Blake takes one of his ear buds and puts them up to Balto's ear. The hall is clear so no one will see them. Blake looks through the his songs.
Blake: Here's a good one.
One the ipod plays Paradise City by Guns n' Roses
After about a minute Balto's starts to move his head around.
Blake: Like it?
Balto: Hold on this is the best part.

After a few minutes the song ends.
Balto: That was cool.
Blake: I got many more.
The school bell rings later and Blake last class starts. He sits down in his eisle seat and Balto lays down and sleeps. The teacher comes in and turns on a projecter.
Teacher: Ok what I'm going to tell you today is the story of a place not far from here. Nome, Alaska.
Balto wakes up to this and looks at the picture on the screen.
Balto: (thinking) Thats where i'm from.
Blake: (thinking) We talk through our minds? Cool.
Teacher: Ok so in the cold winter of 1925 a very serious illness was making hundrends of children sick. The hospital was out of anti toxin and they could not get the medicne in by air or sea. So they chose the fastest dogs to race to Nenana and back to Nome. And at the lead was Steele.
Balto gasps when he hears that name. Then picture changes and we see a picture of Steele. Balto growls.
Blake (thinking): Easy.
Teacher: How ever this is what came back with the medicne.
The slide changes and it shows Balto and the whole sled team. Balto calms down to this.
Teacher: This is the symbol of bravery. Balto. He was a wolf-dog that was an outcast in Nome but he found the used his wolf side and found the sled team who was lost in the blizzerd. For saveing the children he got the honor and respect he wanted. And also...
This slide changes to Balto stonding out side the hospital with Jenna at his side.
Teacher: He won the girl he loved.
Balto smiles and sheds a tear. The teacher then shows a slide of the staue in New York City and a few others.
Teacher: And now it was his time to raise a family.
The slide shows a picture of Balto, Jenna and there six pups.
Student: Nice family.
Blake: What were there name's.
Teacher: Kodi, Stark, Hunter, Sara, Aleu and Dingo were there names. How ever Aleu...
The teacher points to the small gray pup in the picture.
Teacher: About a year after she was born, she was never seen again.
Blake gasps to this.
Blake: What happend to her?
Teacher: Not sure my best guess is that she ran away and died in the snow.
Balto gets enraged by this.
Blake (thinking): Easy boy.
Balto sits back down with a angry look on him.
Teacher: However in 1928 Balto did another great thing. He rescued a pilot that was lost in the mountains. With the help of his son.
The side changes and shows a picture of Balto and Kodi.
Balto smiles at this and calms down.
Teacher: Now were almost done but I want you to keep this in mind. Balto showed alot of people that you are stong no matter who you are. The task for you tonight is to think of a saying that reflects on this to you.
The bell rings and Blake leaves school.
Balto: Your not taking the bus?
Blake: No I want to talk to you.
There walking down the street and Blake turns to Balto.
Blake: Ok what really happend to Aleu?
Balto: She became a leader of a wolf pack. It was her destiny.
Blake: Did ever see her again?
Balto: Not while is was alive. But when Jenna and I became guides we did.
Blake: Jenna's a guide too?
Balto: All of my pups are now guides.
Blake: Do you ever see them?
Balto: Yes when ever we are not being guide we always see eachother.
Blake: I would like to see them.
Balto: I can do that sometime.
They walk pass an ally and hear a rap music coming from down the alley. Balto looks donw and sees a bunch of guys.
Balto: Who are they?
Blake: I don't know.
Just then a man passes by the men in the alley and is muged.
Balto: What the..
Balto tries to runs down to help but Blake grabs him.
Balto: What the hell Blake? let go.
Blake: Don't.
Balto: Why?
Blake: Its to dangrous.
Balto: But..
Blake drags Balto away from the alley. Later in Blake's room he and Balto are arguing.
Balto: I could have help him!
Blake: The violence that you may have faced is ten times worse then what is was back then.
Balto: Fine. But I wont forget this.
The door opens and Blake's mom comes in.
Mom: Blake your teacher called and he wanted you to tell Claire about the homework.
Mom leaves.
Blake: Great!
Balto: What?
Blake: I don't know if I could even talk to Claire about yesterday.
Balto: Well do you like her?
Blake: Of course. But she's way to pretty to talk to. I doubt you know that feeling.
Balto: I do. And if you like her go to her tell her how you feel. If she feels the same she'll feel the same way about you. I know the same feeling.
Blake: Fine I'll try.
Later Blake and Balto walk up to Claire's house and knock on the door. Claire's mom open the door.
Blake: Hi, you might not know me...
Claire's mom: I know who you are. And I thank you for saving Claire. Come in. She's been asking for you.
Blake and Balto go into her room and she is on her bed lying down. She is awake and she smiles when she sees Blake.
Blake: Uh hi.
Claire: Hey. You ok?
Blake: Now that I see that your ok, yes.
Claire: I'm honestly suprised that your here.
Blake: How so?
Claire: You just never seem to talk to me.
Blake: Well I guess I just get nerves. But I had some good advice.
Claire: From your mom?
Blake: Not quiet.
Claire: Then what made you come here?
Blake: Can show her?
Balto: Yes.
Claire: Who are you talking to?
Blake: This is Balto.
Just then a huge light coverd the whole room. The light fades away and Balto appears right in front of Claire.
Claire: Whoa! Is that Balto?
Blake: How did you know?
Claire: Our teacher e-mailed me our assiment.
Blake: Wait the assisment then how did... Balto!!
Balto laughs.
Claire: I guess that he is a spirit guide now. It's a honor to meet a great hero.
Balto: It's nice to see a fan.
Blake: You know about them?
Claire: Yes.
Blake: You are smart.
Balto nudges Blake's leg.
Blake: Ok. Look Claire I was wondering if you would lie to go out sometime?
Claire: I'd loved to.
Blake: Great. How about tommorow night?
Claire: Sure.
Blake: I'll pick you up then.
Blake and Balto walk down the street back to Blake's place.
Balto: You have no idea what to do?
Blake: Damn strait. I know where I should take her but I want to show her how much I care for her.
Balto: I have an idea.
Blake: Ok I'll listen to anything right now.
Balto: All I need is a lantern and a bunch of diffrent colored broken bottles.
The next night Blake is walking down the street holding Claire's hand. They eat dinner and walk for a little while longer. But just as they pass an alley, Blake is pulled away. He is beaten up by none other than Marcus. Blake shoves Marcus away.
Blake: Now what do you want?
Marcus: Her. If I cant have her then no one can.
Blake: Clair! call the cops.
Claire reaches gets on her phone. Marcus throws another punch at Blake but he dodges it and hits Marcus in the stomach. Marcus tries to hit Blake again but he gets out of the way and Maucus fist hits the wall. Marcus hits the wall hard enough for his hand to almost break. Blake looks at Claire but is shoved into a wall. On the ground, Blake sees Marcus rasies his foot and is about to crush his face. Just then Balto leaps on to Marucs and pushes him away. Marcus backs up to a wall and sees Balto.
Marcus: Who are you?
Balto: The protecter of this boy so stay away from him.
The look in Balto's eyes turns demon like and strikes Marcus in fear.
Balto: Blake, take Claire and show it to her.
Blake: Lets go.
Clarie and Blake leave just as the police arrive. They do not see Balto and arrest Marcus.
Claire: You ok?
Blake: Better.
Claire: So what did you want to show me?
Blake: Come.
They go to the roof of Blake's building. Blake holds up a bag of broken bottles.
Blake: What do you see?
Claire: A bunch of broken bottles?
Blake: Nope.
He sets them up on a box on the edge of the building.
Blake: The polar ice capes.
Claire: What?
Balke goes over to a lantern.
Blake: The sun.
He is about to turn it on.
Blake: And to the north.
He turns the lantern on and the light reflects on the bottles and show the northen lights.
Claire: Oh my god! It's beautiful.
Blake: Yeah,...beautiful.
They look at eachother and move there lips closer and closer. Just then..
Voice: Ahem.
They look of the roof and see Balto standing in the air in front of the northern lights.
Blake: How do you do that?
Balto: I just can.
Claire: Thanks for saving us Balto.
Balto: Yoyr welcome.
Blake: Why are you here?
Balto: It's time for me to go, my time here is done.
Blake: Are you sure?
Balto: Yes. But before I go, I have a promise to keep to you.
Everything falls quiet and a small wind pass by them.
Balto: Jenna, Stark, Kodi, Aleu, Hunter, Dingo, Aleu come.
Out of the lights appear all of Balto's family smileing at them.
Claire: Wow. Amazing family.
Jenna nuzzels Balto.
Balto: You got that Claire.
Blake: Will we ever see you guys again?
Balto: When ever you need me our any of us just call us and we will be right in front of you. But before we go.. Sara hit it!
Sara: Got it dad!
She goes on the roof and pulls out a ihome. She turns it on and Paradise City plays. They all start dancing to the beat and the singing stars.

The song ends and Blake and Claire clap. Balto's family start to walk towards the northern lights and they turn back. Balto and his family take deep breaths and howl like they never howled before.
Blake: Thank you Balto.
Claire: We would have been lost with out you.
Blake and Claire share a passionite kiss and look at Balto and the others who are looking at them. Balto and the other slowly walk away into the northen lights and dissapear. The lights fade out.
Claire: So now what?
Blake smiles.
Teacher: Ok so who thought up a good saying about what we talked about yesterday?
Blake and Claire raises there hands.
Teacher: Ok you two go ahead.
Blake: We thought about this for a while and this is what we came up with.
Claire: Heros are rememberd and there legends never die.
Blake: And when the hero is gone and we remember the hero.
Claire: There right next to us.
Blake: Guideing us througth the darkness that is life.
Claire: Thank you.
The whole class claps to this.
Teacher: Very good. That could be in the books some day.
Later Blake and Claire are walking out if the school and appearing right before them is Balto and all of his family. Not a word is said. Claire and Blake smile and walk down the street with Balto and the others at there side.
