Innocence

“ Sean is a cuddly fluff of emo, and Jessica happens to be his royal pain. If he wants to fit in to his new wolf pack, he’s going to have to learn how to obey.”

CHAPTER 1: Introductions aren’t so sweet

The day before Sean was kicked out of his former pack, he wouldn’t stop crying. His family was having a hard time ‘keeping food on the table’ and he was simply just another mouth to feed. Sean had no choice whatsoever if he should go. His half-brother had luckily found a nice temporary pack for him to live with, in which he was to work as a servant. Sean could never forget the cruel words his own brother had said.

“You will work as a personal servant to Jessica, the daughter of the alpha wolf, Zerberus. He is in the leader of the very strong reaper clan. You are to tend to every need and by no means disrespect her or anyone at her level. Do this and you can stay there and withhold your pack’s honor.”

He thought to himself how there would be any honor involved working for someone.  Where’s the honor in being a slave?  So now Sean was stuck in the middle of the road waiting for his escort to the new pack. It was raining hard and his grey fur was getting soaked heavily. Then two wolves, both black with strange markings on their heads, came to the drenched boy.

“…Sean of the Fire clan?” The gruffness of his voice was enough to make a little pup cry.

“That’s me…” The two black wolves went on both sides of Sean, clearly there was no way he could run now.

“We will escort you to our homeland, where hopefully princess Jessica will be waiting for you.” He simply nodded. Truth be told, he had never seen the princess’s face. Royalty rarely showed their faces to lower ranked members, such as himself. His ride was none to fun, no one talked, and the little creatures that roamed the area always startled Sean.

“Alright punk, welcome to your new home.” The two wolves quickly dispatched of the young male as if they had better things to do then stay with him.

“Oh god…this is where I’ll be serving?” Sean’s tender blue eyes shifted onto the amazing mountain that was reaper territory. Sean was about to go take a look when he heard a feminine voice call to him.

“Come quickly Sean, I’m sorry the princess isn’t hear to greet you. She sends her apologies for she had a meeting to go to. In her place I will be taking you to your quarters.” Sean blinked, looking at the small petite wolf curiously. Why would the Princess want to greet him... sure he was her servant, but Sean assumed she would be a jerk that wouldn’t care about him at all. Even though he was still a little uneasy about being so far away from home, he found comfort in talking with the this female.

“By the way… the name’s Erika, but you can call me Eri!” With that Erika led Sean to his quarters and let him snoop around the area for a while. Besides it wasn’t like he had to work immediately! So he wandered around the small caves, and stumbled into a small hole in the wall. Sean easily squeezed through it and found a beautiful flowery field.

“This garden is... wonderful...” Sean said as he breathed in the flower’s aroma. It was such a pleasant smell.

“I’m glad you like it so much. I quite enjoy it myself.” A voice said merrily behind him. It was so pure, but had a cold shock... almost like snow. Sean turned to see a female wolf his age, except something about her just struck him as being royalty. She was grinning wildly, quite creepy in Sean’s point of view really. She had light tan fur and strangely what seemed to purple eyes.

“I don’t get to see stuff like this that much...” Sean mumbled, hiding his obvious surprised look by the wolf’s appearance behind his massive grey bangs.

The brown haired smiled, tucking her paw under Sean’s chin and lifting his head up so the she could make eye contact with the lower class rebel.

“Eye contact is important around here, dear.” She chimed, in an all-knowing voice. “I wouldn’t want to see your frail little body being attacked. That would be just terrible.”

Sean glared at her with disbelief. Everything that came out of her mouth angered him off so much; not only the words, but how she said it as well. The whole comment she made was said with a sickly-sweet smile and her voice sounded like she was telling him something wonderful was about to happen! Who did this girl think she was?

“You don’t talk much do you dear?” She looked at him with those perfectly clear violet eyes of hers. “I suppose its okay though... I can easily loosen those lips for you.”

Before Sean could even open his mouth to question her, the female already made her move. Her lips touched Sean’s so delicately, that the poor grey haired barely knew it was happening until a scrawny paw laced over his. Sean pulled back, almost stumbling into the patch of yellow roses. He stared at the other, a look of horror and confusion plastered onto his face. The brown haired one didn’t seem to share his reaction at all. She was grinning ear to ear, touching her lips as if to reminisce on the simple kiss she had just given the wolf.

“Y-You crazy idiot!” Sean vented, trying to keep his voice down to not alarm anyone, but not succeeding. “Why would you k-kiss me like that... I-I...” He was so angry and frustrated; he could barely contain himself any longer. He was so stressed out about leaving home and working for some damned princess that he didn’t know and now this! This wolf, upper class or not, was going to feel the explosion of his rage. Sean with complete rage pushed the jerk into a nearby puddle.

The brown haired stumbled backward, landing on her backside as the water hit her in surprise. She looked down at her fur, seeing they were drenched in water. Sean already bolted off at full speed. Even though she was in a distraught state, she couldn’t help but smile.

“He’s feisty... I like that actually...”

~ LATER THAT DAY ~

Sean had been in the servants’ quarters, laying himself down and trying to get rest he probably wouldn’t attain. ‘That jerk... even if it had been a light kiss, had kissed him... and it was technically his first kiss which made it all the worse.’ As Sean continued to lose himself in his thoughts, Eri had entered the room, seeing that her new co-worker was there.

“Sean, there you are!” She smiled, grabbing onto his paw and pulling him up forcefully. “Princess Jessica finished her meeting a while ago and requests to meet with you right now.”

Sean nodded, wanting to get away from his stress, and followed Eri through a long rocky hallway and into the throne room. He looked around, finding the room absolutely beautiful. It was simple and elegant; a well-lit room with small cavities on the roof that had light focusing on the center. A long paved path stretched to the end of the room where two thrones stood. “Wow, if this room is nice, I wonder how all the others look!”

On the left throne, Sean could see someone lounging on it. As he approached the end of the room; Sean couldn’t help but gasp... It was the creep who had kissed him... the girl he threw water on...

There was a grin that could be seen on her face. “Welcome to my castle, Sean of the Fire Clan. I’m Jessica, the princess of the Reapers.”

She giggled, getting up from throne and walking toward Sean. Eri was behind him, completely flabbergasted while Sean just hoped he wasn’t going to get killed. Jessica’s grin widened as she looked at Sean right in the eyes. She was so close... really close to him, her lips moving over to Sean’s ear, moving a few strands of grey hair away. “I’ll make sure your service here will be a pleasurable one.”

The girl who had kissed him and then had been the victim of his rage was Princess Jessica... Sean could feel his heart stop at that moment.

CHAPTER 2: Learning to obey

Sean walked through the castle corridors, hoping to escape from her royal highness, princess Jessica. Sean could not stand anything about her. She treated him like some little toy and getting him to do all sorts of odds tasks, and it made him furious. Sean usually ended up forcibly hunting for game, cleaning her room, or getting her some water. Sometimes it would be something very bizarre such as Jessica ordering Sean to sing songs to her while lifting one leg. It was a little freaky, and a little too up close and personal in Sean’s view, but she was the one standing between him and his “honor” so he bit his tongue and put up with it.

The princess was currently looking for her personal servant; visibly irked by her servant’s absence. Sean was always sneaking off when he wasn’t around. She tried looking in the servant’s quarters but the young Erika girl said she hadn’t seen him all morning. Jessica groaned, looking left and right for the grey-head. Her violet eyes seemed to brighten as she saw a flash of grey turn the corner down the hall. The princess rushed after him; calling out his name.

“Sean!” Jessica’s call did manage to reach his ears, but the grey-haired servant decided he would pretend he didn’t hear anyone and continued walking.

Her highness caught up to Sean, snagging his arm and pulling backwards with a force Sean wasn’t aware of before. The brown haired princess glared at him, feeling a little disappointed and strangely hurt that he tried to ignore her. It was strange. And she didn’t like it. Therefore decided she would take it out on him.

“You weren’t avoiding me, were you Sean?” Jessica’s lips curved upwards into a cruel smirk as she spoke. Sean bit his bottom lip, nervous at the princess’s look.

“N-no your highness…” She gave him a questionable look.

“Are you positive?”

“Y-yes”

Her violet eyes glared at Sean; she was so hurt and frustrated by this and she barely knew why. Sean was obviously lying to her and doing a horrible job as well. She grabbed Sean by his ear and dragged him along.

“S-Sorry your highness…” He winced, the pressure his master was applying was hurting his arm.

“I told you to call me Jessica, is that so hard to understand?” Jessica quipped, feeling usually irritable today.

“Oh right, sorry your-- I mean Jessica.” He could feel the venom of those words and it bit him like a snake.

While he had been all for running off before, now he was nothing more than a subdued puppy being dragged by the leash by its master. Jessica was usually flirty and rather in a freakily good mood a majority of the time… when she let her anger show Sean found it hard to resist whatever she was demanding. Was it fear… or maybe guilt? No, no, it was definitely fear he was feeling.

Sean would never feel guilt toward that mean little prick. Jessica opened up a door, dragging Sean inside, making the wolf loose his strain of thought. It was a rather large room; with a great big stoned table in the center. The brown color walls were bare except for the little marks on it.

All of the marks looked brilliantly made; each of them revealing a story. There were random bones scattered over the table and it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in quite a while. Even though the room was dirty… Sean could not get over the simple beauty of the room. Such details in the rock… it was beautiful. It almost made him upset to see such a beautiful room be treated so poorly. The upper class had no sense of cleanliness at all.

“I want you to clean this.” Jessica said; a scowl still plastered onto her face. It was apparent she was still displeased with her servant. “There will be a feast held here when the sky hits red, so I need this done by then.” A grin seemed to form on her face as she saw Sean’s contort into a look of panic.

“ What, that’s not enough time to clean this room. This place is a mess!” Sean really wanted to strangle this kid now.

“Well, I was going to tell you about this task about an hour ago but you seemed to have other important business to attend to, am I right.” Jessica clearly glowed with smugness and irritation. Hopefully this would teach him a lesson…

Sean didn’t say anything… it was useless to argue any longer and he was just his wasting time. Jessica, someday queen of the reapers, was an evil jerk… end of sentence. There was not a compassionate bone in his body that would make him be nice to her. So he started cleaning, still panicking that there was a feast in only a little while.

Jessica leaned against the wall, actually impressed with the work Sean was doing. Any other servant wouldn’t do near as good of a job in the short time frame like he was doing right now. Well… maybe she had told a little white lie. There meeting was to be held at night… but if she told him that, he might not be as quick to finish. Plus, it would teach her servant not to run off when she wasn’t around.

Sean began picking up scraps and throwing them away. He started to pick up in speed and started to dust. For some reason, it freaked him out that Jessica was staring at him so intently. Even though Sean didn’t look at her, he could feel her violet eyes bore into the back of his head. Her stare made him want to finish just so he could get out of this room. Fortunately in his case, he was able to finish with only a few minutes to spare. “I’m done…” The breathless wolf sighed… finally able to relax even for a moment.

“Not bad for such a short time limit…” Her royalty decreed, a small smile forming on her lips. “And basically on time… though if anyone had come early they would have been upset that this room wasn’t ready.”

“At least it’s done…” He mumbled, looking at her snobby face. “When is everyone supposed to arrive anyway? I thought it starts pretty soon.”

“Hmm… well, the meeting actually isn’t supposed to be for quite a while.” The princess’s smile grew into a mischievous smirk.

“W-what the…? Why would you do something… you said…?” Sean didn’t exactly know how to respond to this…

“Sean,” Jessica started. “Think of this as your punishment for running off and then lying to me. I try to be as kind as I can but I will not tolerate you running off and ignoring me.” She glared from behind her silky brown bangs at Sean. Hopefully he would get the message she was trying to convey…

“Y-yes your high… I mean Jessica.” He was fumbling with his words… what was happening with his mind. Those perfectly clear violet eyes seemed to glow anger and… almost hypnotizing Sean with fear.

“Very good then!” Jessica chimed, her attitude flipping to the opposite emotion to what it was before. Most said that the princess was bi-polar… and they were probably right. “Now, go give the hallway a good sweeping and then tell the kitchen to start preparing dinner.” The princess smiled almost sickeningly sweetly, walking over to Sean and caressing his cheek very lightly. “Or is that too much for you?”

Sean swallowed a lump of fear in his throat. Screw it, Jessica freaked him out… and he wasn’t sure whether he liked the creepily nice or the angry side of her ether. Both were rather frightening and he always ended up getting touched in a weird way that made him want to jump out his skin. “Yes… I can do that…”

“Good boy” She smirked, but his eyes were brightening. Playing with Sean’s mind was her favorite pastime. “And afterwards you can be off for the day. But don’t go too far; if you do I might have to buy a leash so you don’t run away!” A small tongue rasped, almost in a teasing gesture.

He shivered a little… knowing Jessica; she probably would follow through with that. Deciding that he’d had enough of this, Sean walked off, going to get a broom to start sweeping again.

Jessica smiled as her servant, Sean, left. Slowly but surely she was taming the grey haired rebel. It wasn’t easy, but of course, nothing with Sean ever is… and that is what makes him so fun.

- THE NEXT MORNING -

Being the ever hardworking servant, our heroic young lad was sweeping the outside entrance. The morning wasn’t extremely cold, but it wasn’t exactly a summer’s day. The leaves were slowly changing colors and the wind was crisp. Sean was lucky to have a warm bed in the servant’s quarters, but he was worried about his family. He hasn’t received any messages, yet, which makes him wonder if his family was safe and warm.

Jessica was lounging comfortably in her bed. Her advisor and oldest friend, Jerica, who everyone called Ms. J, was simply just watching the princess get so lazy.  It was relaxing for Jessica to rest when Sean was close by. She would never admit this, but she preferred having him close to her. There were so many sketchy strangers that worked in the castle; she worried that they would do something to her servant while she wasn’t around. Jessica was deep in thought; thinking about Sean and yesterday’s meeting when she felt a tap on her shoulder.

“Hey Jess,” Ms. J whispered. “He’s here right now… you have to figure something about the upcoming war with - ” Jessica quickly nodded, getting up to follow Ms. J.

“Sean, go back to the servant’s quarters right now, I have business to take care of.” Jessica walked off, leaving Sean to himself. The grey haired wolf sighed, stretching his stiff arms.

“All this work is tiring…” He yawned, exiting the room. As he reached his destination, he could see a rather conspicuous figure moving about. Sean twitched, was it a ghost? He slowly followed it. This stranger seemed to be unnoticed, even for the fact Sean had never seen him on the premises.

“Excuse me good sir, can you please explain what you are doing?” The surprised intruder made a run for it. Sean, with no hesitancy ran behind it. If this were an assassin then no way would he let them hurt the people in the castle.

In the distance a duo walked through a corridor. “What, its her royal highness and Ms. J!” With full intension Sean knew that this monster was heading for them.

He thought fast, before the wolf could leap and attack his master, Sean bit into the wolf’s hind leg. Yes! He brought him down with full force as the assassin just laid there ordazed. Ms. J screamed, “Help! Guards come quickly!”

Out of his eye two black figures came and threw Sean off the stranger. They arrested the befallen victim and dragged him somewhere. Jessica didn’t say a word, even though she knew if it hadn’t been for Sean she would be dead. She simply pushed Ms. J to the side, and walked over to Sean. He snapped, “ Oh no! Why’s she coming over here, to punish me?”

He closed his eyes, hoping this would block out the pain that was going to be enforced on him.

“Sean…” A warm feeling pressed upon Sean’s chest and quickly upon his cheek.

Stunned, Sean peeked to see what was happening. Before him, was the princess embracing him in a gentle caress. She was neither too eager, nor too soft. Rather…somewhat in-between. Sean rolled his eyes. He just remembered what he had said about her earlier, ‘how nothing could make him be nice to her.’ Yet, Sean wrapped his arm around her sealing their little truce for the moment.

“I’ll be in the kitchen pigging out if you need me.” Ms. J quickly came up with an excuse to get away from this awkward moment.

Sean watched as Ms. J scurried off to the kitchen. He snickered and tried to hide his blush. “Maybe staying here wouldn’t be that much of a bad idea?”

Suddenly the princess shoved Sean off her and straightened her ruffled fur, somewhat ruining the moment. “Hmmm… personal servant, and temporary body-guard? I seemed to have chosen well.”

Her royalty patted Sean on the arm and swiftly walked out of the corridor. Leaving Sean both questionable, and struck rather dumb.

CHAPTER 3: Slightly weird, and completely forbidden

Sean had never been one for romance. The only girl he really had a connection with was Eri and she was more like a sister than anything. Of course, the real test of his preference was princess Jessica; who constantly said odd things to him or gave him simple touches that would leave him feeling strange. It was really hard to tell if he was attracted to her or not because any thoughts toward the prick usually were around the area of annoyance.

Right now, the princess was oddly silent; lying horizontally on her bed, twisting a piece of her brown strands between his fingers. Sean was cleaning up the place. He luckily never had to do the biggest jobs, just give it to the maids to do it. According to Jessica; ‘A personal servant should not leave his master for very long.’ Sean really didn’t care; he would rather not touch Jessica’s clutter for more than he had to anyway...

“Sean, be a dear and draw me a bath once your done.” Jessica said, not making eye contact with him at all.

“Why don’t you go to the creek and bathe there Jessica?”

“I can’t.  I’m not allowed to as forced by my father.  Maybe you can argue about that with him?”

Sean made no effort to reply, only answering with a small nod. It was no use fighting with her, because she only gave him bizarre punishments. Also, the promise of him being on a leash if he disobeyed was still fresh in his mind, and it frightened him. Every time he thought of Jessica dragging him along like her little pet, He found himself shivering uncomfortably. So Sean left. When he finally got to the bathing room (which was like a small waterfall located outside the castle) he found that Jessica was already there. Sean turned away, fearful that Jessica would say something awkward that he would probably blush at.

“Why are you just standing there, dear?” Jessica asked as a smirk that would rival the Cheshire cat himself grew. She loved teasing Sean; it was absolutely hysterical to see the usually anti-social boy to twist and flip out at her control. The grey haired teen didn’t know it, but Jessica could see that she was becoming more and more like her ideal servant.

They were already in the middle of fall, and though Sean is incredibly stubborn and strong willed, he too is not untamable. It brought a smile of glee onto her own lips to think of an obedient servant. Completing her every want and desire without an ounce of resistance; no matter how bizarre, difficult, or… pleasurable it is.

Jessica began to take off anything she was wearing. For quite a while she stared at a pendant hanging on her neck, before carefully placing it on a secluded spot. Quickly she looked at Sean. He had apparently got the message Jessica wanted and sat beside the waterfall. She vaguely wondered if she was really that terrifying or if Sean was just that jumpy… not that she cared of course, she was just curious!

“It’s fine…” A blushing Sean mumbled, pushing his grey bangs out of his face. He couldn’t bring himself to look back at his master. He heard the sound of Jessica’s body hitting the streaming water. He was surprised when he felt his face heat up and his heart rate pick up speed. Apparently his body wasn’t getting the message that he didn’t like the bratty princess like that.

“Hmmm…why are you just standing there?” Jessica asked.

Sean turned, a confused look drawn onto his face. The girl giggled, brushing a brown strand of hair out of her face. “You honestly don’t expect me to wash myself do you?” Her grin widened when she saw his face contort into a look of panic.

“W-what!?” His eyes grew wide. Jessica merely rolled her eyes, reaching out to grab Sean’s hand and dragging him over. It was fairly successful, considering he was in a state of disbelief.

“I do believe you heard me my servant.” Her royalty heard Sean sighed in defeat. That was when she knew she won. “Be gentle, okay dear. I have sensitive skin.”

“Yeah, yeah...” Sean grumbled, grooming her fur.  He began to notice that the princess smelled like flowers. It was a nice smell... now he knew why Jessica smelled so nice... wait, what? He shouldn’t even be thinking of that in this kind of situation! He hesitantly touched the her scrawny shoulders. He slowly grooms back and forth against her damp fur.

“Yes, just like that...” Jessica closed his eyes.

Sean growled back lightly, “At least someone’s enjoying this…”

He dipped into Jessica’s back, his eyes focusing as she arched into the touch. Sean groomed all over her back, trying to hide the very prominent redness that was forming on his cheeks as he moved to wash Jessica’s dazzling face.

“Mm… you’re so good to me Sean…” Jessica cooed condescendingly.

Sean would have retorted back if it not had been for her snatching his hand. His blue eyes stared into the clear violet ones of the princess; almost frozen in place. She smirked, pulling onto her servant’s arm slowly. Sean could only stare into her eyes. He was aware he was being pulled closer to her but his body didn’t respond to that thought. “So good…” She murmured before pressing her lips onto Sean’s.

He noted that it was gentle, but more urgent than the last time she had kissed him. It was all so much… those eyes… those lips… that warmth… it was all…real. Mere seconds after the kiss was initiated, Sean’s brain was slowly starting to move his body and after Jessica’s other hand tried to wrap around Sean back, he pulled away. Sean panted, staring at the princess in total shock. Though he had thought Jessica would laugh at him or tease him, she said nothing. She gave him a look of disappointment and sadness. Those crystal clear violet eyes were wide and full of sadness. Her paw threw themselves to her head; this was way too much! After a short reflection of what happened, Sean did the only thing he could think of at the time. He ran away.

“Sean, Sean!” He heard her call out to him. Tears formed at the corners of his eyes as he dashed outside and past the guards. He heard them yelling and threatening him but he tuned it out and kept running. He ran to a nearby waterfall and stumbled into the lush grass where no one could spot him. His legs gave out and he collapsed from exhaustion. Tears were still running down his face. Why... why did he run so far just to get away from one person...?

“Having a little problem Sean?” A serene voice came to Sean’s ears.

Sean propped himself up and focused on the female talking to him. It was his only true blood-related sibling…his little sister Brody.

“Ahhh…and what makes you think that?” Sean playfully asked, trying to hide his pain.

He walked over and loving hugged his sister. Truth be told, the last time Sean saw Brody was when she was a pup. At the time he was living in one of the most dominant packs in the region. Even greater than of that of the Fire clan…but like so many great kingdoms…the society broke down due to war. It was then he was adopted by the alphas of the Fire clan, where he was treated poorly, as his only friend was his half brother.

“Sean come with me. All the members of our once great pack are regrouping. Some new wolves even being added to our clan! You could be the leader…” For a long moment he stood there staring at his sister.

How splendid it would sound to know that you were the alpha of the strongest pack. But then Sean had a flashback, even though his adopted parent didn’t raise him as nicely…they still raised him. So it was in his debt to take care of them. “Sorry Brody, I can’t be a leader just yet…”

His caring sister nodded, and began to turn back into a bushel. “ Uhhhh you sure? Well if you change you’re mind we live right north of you’re current ‘castle’.” Then she simply disappeared. The brother slumped back…how the heck did she know where he lived? He shook his head continued back t the castle.

When the servant arrived back at the castle, he found Ms. J in a panic. She was pacing back and forth and almost yelped when she saw him.

“Sean, thank god you’re back kid!” Ms. J ran a hand over her face in frustration. “Go and see Jess. She’s been a worried sick about you. I had to stop her from sending every soldier we had to bring you back. She’s in her room right now.”

He nodded; a little surprised his master was that concerned about him. What exactly did he mean to the princess...? He entered Jessica’s room, a little relieved to find her asleep. She was still dampened from her almost-bath, her hair was disheveled and she was an overall wreck, but Jessica looked so peaceful. Sean reached out to move a piece of hair out of her face when he felt himself pulled onto the bed beside the princess.

“Hello dear...” Jessica said her greeting anything but friendly... Sean was afraid he was going to get punished and was surprised when the princess wrapped her arms around him. “You ran... you should never run away from me. There is a reason I keep you so close.” Sean could feel her soft breathing on his skin...

“Jessica...” He sighed... he then thought of a question that was brought on by Jessica’s previous comment. “Princess... Why do you want me so close? Why did you make me your personal servant?” Sean wasn’t sure, but he could have sworn he saw a look of fear pass her face... but it faded too quickly to ask about it.

“I will tell you someday Sean...” Jessica sighed but then her lips formed into a smirk. “Now dear, get some rest. You are going to have to be punished from running off on me again.” He shivered, noting that princess Jessica wasn’t letting go of his body, meaning he would have to sleep here in her arms. But somehow, it didn’t bother him that much. The gentle sound of her breathing lulled him to sleep and somewhere in the back of his mind, Sean knew this probably wasn’t allowed. A princess and a servant shouldn’t be together in this sense, but it didn’t matter now. The two were at peace, falling into a deep sleep in each other’s embraces.

CHAPTER 4: Trust your partner…and that’s what I intend to do

Sean wasn’t much of an observer, but Jessica had been acting stranger than what was considered ‘normal’ for her. She left early in the mornings for meetings and according to Ms. J she wouldn’t even bring any guards with her. When he questioned Jessica about this she simply stated that she was going to see an old friend and that she didn’t need any guards to look after her royal buttocks.

Jessica had also been keeping Sean busy with doing pointless tasks like getting her food only to have her say she didn’t want it and gave it to Ms. J. At this moment he was helping Eri in the kitchen since her highness was busy with one of her so called ‘meetings’.

“Hun…” Eri sighed, grabbing his shoulder. “I already cleaned up here… now we have to clean this again.”          He and let his eyes wander to the floor. He felt kind of bad for screwing up… for most people he didn’t give a crap whether they like him or not.

But this was Eri; she was a friend and almost like a sister to him. She was the only was he talked to besides Jessica and Ms. J. Lately a lot of the servants talked about him and Jessica being forbidden lovers or whatever… like that would ever happen. It was always the princess who made the moves on him.

“Sorry Eri…” Sean murmured, hiding his expression of embarrassment under his massive bangs. The wolfress just gave him a worrisome look.

“Is something the matter Sean?” she asked. When he looked up at her, he knew he would have to tell her. She really was like a sister… a sister that had to know everything and be concerned if there was something wrong.

“It’s Jessica… she’s been acting different lately…” Sean saw Eri act almost surprised for a moment. Not many people actually referred to Jessica as anything but Princess or your Highness. Being such a low stature and around the same age… Sean could see how they looked like lovers.

“Her highness has… seemed to be rather busy lately.” Eri said, leaning back on a wall.  “She must be distressed.”

“Maybe…” The rather busy wolf murmured. Even though what she said made sense, it somehow did not ease his mind.

-AFTER WASHING –

The servant sighed as he walked along the corridor. It had taken him and Eri so long to finish the dishes because Sean washed the already clean dishes. He hoped Jess was done with her meetings that he could talk to her about what was bothering him. He really wanted to put his worries to rest. In the back of his mind he could only wonder why he cared for that snotty prick, but in the smallest corner of his heart he knew why…

“I will not let myself marry that sad excuse of a male, I won’t!” The grey servant halted as he heard the loud voice. It came from around the corner and mid-way down the hallway. Luckily the voice was close enough that Sean could hear. If he didn’t know any better, it sounded like Jessica’s voice.

“I’m sorry your highness, but this is to keep peace between the clans! This is what you agreed to.”

“Brody, so since he didn’t accept the offer as king you now want to me to marry the new king of your has been pack!” Sean winced, why was the name Brody in the conversation, he could almost hear the hate in Jessica’s voice.

“Princess…” The wolf named Brody paused. “Is it my fault that the true ruler declines his position? Listen if you were mates with Davi, we would have the strongest pack in the nation! Is all this drama because you want…”?

“Brody…” Jessica growled. So, Jessica was to be married… why had she been leading him on like this? Sean could only imagine Jess’s face at that point. He feared to peer around the corner in case they spotted him.

“So I am right! Your highness, think of you’re duties to your pack before you go on messing with love. Davi is a good leader, he has the right genes and can provide! Why would you not want a mate like that?” Brody paused, her grin widening as she saw the princess’s defeated look.

“…Its not that simple. It…” The princess’s gloomy eyes drifted out of the conversation. Brody arched her brow, before the familiar grin reappeared.

“Ahhh… it would just be so much better to have Sean supporting you by your side as your lover…right?”

Jessica darted a dangerous look at the snickering wolfress, why was she getting to her.

“…Shut up…”

The stranger laughed at the princess’s rude language. “I will give one year, in which you technically will become an adult in six months, Princess. And just for you, I’ll give you an extra six months just if you can’t decide automatically. You either marry Davi, or we go to war. Either choice, we will be getting your land!” Sean heard the sound of the loud clomping of paws coming towards him. He backed away from the noise, running into one of the nearby rooms. Sean was so confused. Was this Brody…his Brody? His heartbeat was rapid until he heard those sounds walk past the room. He breathed a sigh of relief, sitting on the bed that in the middle of the room to catch his breath.

“How am I going to face Jessica now…” Sean muttered to himself. There was no way he could even bring himself to speak to Jessica now without that urge to ask her why he lied to him. Sean sat there in silence for the longest time before he decided to get up and get back to work. He opened the door and walked out the hallway; a gloomy look upon his face.

“Sean.” a voice that seemed all too familiar called to him. Sean froze; a little worried about how familiar the voice really was. He turned around to see the brown haired princess standing not to far where he had stood when he spied on his conversation with Brody.

“Jessica…” That was all he could say at this point. All other words in his vocabulary were gone and all he could think about was how stupid he was to walk out in front of her highness. He should have known she would still be there since he didn’t hear him walk away like Brody had.

“So you heard…” Jessica said in a monotone voice. It startled him because it was so emotionless. It was so unlike the playful and coy tone in Jessica’s voice he was used to hearing. Even though he was worried Jessica would be angry with him, he still had to ask her.

“Why did you lie to me Jessica, I would have never told anyone you were marrying.” Jessica didn’t respond for the longest time. She walked closer to her servant, putting a paw on his shoulder and looking into his eyes.

“It would not have mattered even if I told you. All the people hate me!” Jessica hissed at Sean before calming herself down. “You’re just going to have to trust me.”

“But why me, Jessica? You’re going to start a bloody war just because I…err…this male wouldn’t step us as king, c’mon the new king is way better then he’ll ever be right?” Sean fought back, not wanting to give up until he got his answers. “Why are you doing this…I’m nothing! Why me…”

Sean was trying to understand this; why would Jessica do all this for him. Sean did not like the thought of the princess getting married to a complete stranger, but why would she, the princess of Reapers, go through so much just for him. She didn’t even know Sean before he came here… right?

“You’re just going to have to trust me dear.” Jessica slid her hand off his coarse shoulder. She gave a simple peck onto Sean’s cheek causing the grey haired teen to blush. Now Sean could only stand there, his cheeks a pretty shade of pink, as Jessica walked past him. “Get back to work Sean. I’ll tell you everything, eventually.” That was all Jessica said before she was completely out of sight.

The grey wolf rubbed his cheek, hoping it would remove the colorful shades. He waited until the princess was gone before he slumped back down. “Jessica…screw you…” He muttered under his breath. He felt so clueless even though he found out so many things from the conversation between Brody and Jessica. All he could do now is continue with his work and trust that His princess would eventually answer all the questions he had.

“Trust your partner…and that’s what I intend to do.”
