Chapter 1
Light pored in through the treetops as Dragonpaw crept from his place in the aprintice's den. Looking out into the clearing waiting for the other dogs to awaken; specificly his mentor, Grasspelt.
Dragonpaw was only a young malamute pup, who had just recently become an apprintice. His yellow-orange fur glissend in a single ray of light as he heard the stir of a few dogs in the warriors den.
He rushed into the apprintice's den once more to wake his closest friend, Greenpaw, who was quite a hard sleeper.
"Wake up! Wake up! It's time for training! Come on!" Dragonpaw's rapid barks soon stired the whole apprintice's den.
"Dragonpaw! What's all your blabbing about? I'm tired!" Greenpaw murmered. "Leave me alone, I'm to tired..."
Grasspelt's head appeared in the entrance to the den. Her dark grey fur looking blacker than it ever had.
"Come on, Dragonpaw. It's time for training." Grasspelt barked, still looking a bit drowsy.
Soon after Grasspelt left the entranceof the den, Silvertail peered in and called out to Greenpaw to wake up, his voice sturn.
"Will we hunt today, Grasspelt?" Dragonpaw asked as the four dogs left the TreeClan camp together.
"Yes. We have little pray, and you must learn. Your appprinticeship will end soon." Grasspelt barked. This thought excited Dragonpaw.
I'm really going to be a real warrior soon! his thoughts flowed through him like a river as he followed Grasspelt down to the Sitting Rocks. Lots of prey should be there trying to keep warm.
"Watch me closely." Grasspelt whispered as she stalked toward a large mouse. Pouncing and landing perfectly on the mouse, Grasspelt buried it so she could pick it up later. "Now you try."
"Okay...I'll try." Dragonpaw looked around causiously before finally spotting a mouse. He emedietly dropped into a hunting crouch, slowly stalking the mouse. He pounced and landed on its tail, quickly pinning it down before finishing it off.
"Perfect!" Grasspelt aplauded. "I will talk with Ninestar about making you a warrior soon."
Chapter 2
"Very well, Grasspelt. We will have Dragonpaw and Greenpaw's naming cerimonies tonight." Dragonpaw heard Ninestar say.
Yes! He thought axcitedly. I'm gonna be a warrior!
That night, Ninestar gave a familiar call for the dogs of TreeClan to come to a clan meeting: "All those who are old enough to catch their own prey, come to this meeting." Many of the dogs stirred from their dens and headed for the HighTree. "We gather here tonight," Ninestar continued. "to give these apprintices their warrior names: Dragonpaw and Greenpaw."
Dragonpaw felt uneasy under all the gleaming eyes of dogs everywhere. Looking at Greenpaw on the side of him, he gulped and waited for Ninestar to anounce their new names.
"Greenpaw," Greenpaw looked up at Ninestar. "You are now to be known as Greentail, we hope that you do well in all the challanges that you face in warriorhood." Greentail bowed his head and walked off to join the other cats beneathe the HighTree. "Dragonpaw," Dragonpaw felt his tail begin to wag. "You are now to be known as Dragonheart. Let StarClan light up your path." Dragonheart felt proud of himself and was proud to be a warrior. He joined Greentail and listened to all the other dogs calling them by their new names.
A month later, Dragonheart was hunting with Greentail, an unfimiliar scent caught their noses.
"RockClan..." Dragonheart whispered. "We have to report this to Ninestar right now!" They charged back to the camp and headed straight for Ninestar's den. Blackfoot, the deputy, was sitting in the front of the den.
"We must speak with Ninestar!" Greentail growled.
"Why do you need to speak with her so badly?" Blackfoot barked.
"RockClan; in our territory!" snarled Dragonheart, feeling useless because he hadn't spoken the whole time.
Blackfoot stood up. "I will tell her myself." and walked inside.
"Is there something wrong with her? Is she sick or something?" Greentail barked. Dragonheart shrugged. "She normally always let others speak with her."
Then, that was when it hit him, Dragonheart felt his tail rise and thought for a long time: RockClan had been driven from there territory and it was not thought to be against the warrior ccode because they were all murderers. They're back and Ninestar's worried!
