A brown furred face, pops out from the crowd

When all of a sudden, a hat falls to ground

The slim wolf-like figure, watches dismay

Upon a small girl, not too far away

He looks left and right, gazing to see

Is the road clear? He jumps the scene.

His legs carry him fast

Over the wind, past the rest

A snarl leaps from a throat,

Black with white; tainted, though.

He finds strength in speed

To fill simple good deeds

Everyone gazes in nothing but astonishment

As the outcast of a wolf dog, shoots off like a rocket

The snarls grow fierce, and suddenly a flash of teeth.

A dodge and a whirl

The fangs miss by an inch

Distance is spreading

Jaws wrapped around synch.

He jumps off to the side

It seems, just in time

To see Steele’s team cross

And run to Rosie’s arms.

He saved just a hat, but made his mark that day

Everyone would soon come to know, the hero by name.

Balto.
