     Ch.1

Esstelle found the blood all rush to her face. Heat waves of panic rippled down her body, causeing a line of sweat to race down her fur. She shot her gaze around as the sun seemed to glint off the some-how blistering snow, as she toppled down wards towards the ground. She squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for her time to find The Light.

 It never came.

"Wha..?" she mumbled, stretching out and feeling around her with her legs outstretched. She dared at last to open her eyes, and looked around her, amazed she hadent died from the fall. " Victory!" she hooted, her tail finding its way to wobble on it's own in courage. She peered from her veiw-point from the ground. It seemed like she had fallen from 3 storys, in her own mind, but basicaly she had only fallen two.

She had manged to get up to two whole stories when she suffered the musting to try to scent out food in various homes. She had made her way to a teen-agers mini-fridge, when everything had started to go wrong. Before she had even had chance to scramble and run, she was being beaten with a  broom, held by a mysterious woman, spilling words into her brain that she could'nt even translate.

Esstelle rolled her eyes. Human laungue, she thought. Strange and curios all at once.

She let hermemory roll back into her head: While the woman had been beating her, she saw a spiraling staircase leading up. Up, but out. At-least out of the tourture chamber she had been endureing. At least, that's what her canine mind thought. From the 17th to 18th flick of the broom, she had manged to hobble up to the first step, ducking at this and that swing. Once halfway up she had snuck down a peek and found the lady chaseing her, the lady's curles spilling onto the wooden floor and her robe tiwlering around her body like a toredodors red flag. She contuined to hollow up the stairs intill she came to a  small, crampd room, leading to a even smaller ramp that led to fresh sun-shine. And, no touture pit. Being closterphobic, but hurried and tired after the beating, tried to squeeze through the hole that led to the outside.

She became stuck.

She fiddagted around for countless seconds. " Darn you humans! Leaving cookies perfectly out in the open. Goes right down to your butt. Ever heard of nutrion?!" she yelled in frusttaion. If she had been listening then, instead of suggesting many thing humans did wrong and worse then animals, she could have heard shaking and feet scurrying near her hind-quaertes. She only noticed when hands had dug into her rump.

She let out a suprised yelp, and contuined to struggle as a tug of war of her paws latching onto the solid concrete just infront of her, and the old-beating-lady. Eventualy, insticnts caved in and she let out a long, ear-acheing howl. She felt the ladys hands shudder benath her, and heard her running away, raceing down the stiars and flocking about to conplain about the noise. Finding anther chance that day, she wriggled free, and ended up splatting onto the concreate 2nd floor of the house. She mustered more courage and had got to her paws, she padded over to the edge, seeking the bottom. " Too....far.." she mumbled...backing away just at the sight of the ground so far below her. It would be im possibale to jump and live. She sighed as she heard yelling coming and travleing closer to the staircase and then the hole. She sucked in a breath and balanced to paws on the edge, whille once rested out in thin-air. She sucked in a even tighter breath, and jumped.

"And that's how she ended at the bottom." Esstelle muttered, rolling her eyes. She looked up to where she had jumped. She had lived. She let out a sigh, and let the memory fade into the back of her mind, just for later.

She came to her senses and pricked her ears as she heard humans shouting in her direction. " On a man-hunt, are they?" she muttered slyly into the frosty air. " Well, if its a man-hunt they want. A wolf-hunt is what they'll get."

With that, she turned on her heel, letting the snow to drift down, covering up her paw-prints from veiw.

                                       Ch.2

Canvas pawed at the ground, un-aware to his surroundings. As the sky began to fade, barks could be heard in the distance. Canvas shivered. " .....Dogs....eck." he mumbled, contuineing to rumage for food. He turned his attiontion to a lone garbage can rolling on the ground half-way seen in a ally-way.

He licked his lips, half-consions that he was begining to act like a mutt. He blinked hard and started for the Can. He stucl his whole head insdie, his eyes flittering around from Soda-Can to a half-eaten dounut. He rolled his eyes and carefully gudied the dounut out with his paw. He yawned, arching his back, and staring down at his dounut, confuzed on rather he would barf it back up, or save it for later. He chuckled, and nibbled on it. "Yuck." He said, pulling away. "You call your-self a dounut?" he said, disgusted. He closed his eyes and sniffed the air, catching a new scent fastly drifting over to him. ....Human!  He said, lashing out and banging his hind leg on the can as he tried to run away. The human's scent grew stronger, and a full shape out-lined from the entrance to the Way. Canvas growled, bareing his fangs and leashing his claws into the ground.

In a flash, the light from the sun collided with a shiny object in the Human's hand, making the object shimmer. A knife.

Canvas growled more as the knife was lifted higher into the air, making Canvas struck by fear and un-able to move.He closed his eyes, waiting for the pain to spring.

He yelped out in pain as the knife was flung ingot his hind leg. Canvas growleed and backed up, bumping into the garbage can again. He saw the human smile and then it stalked towards him again, knife in pocket. Canvas purposly stepped on the Human's foot as he weaved out of the Human's feet. He didint realize how long he had ran intill he found himself out of the alley, out of Nome, and by 3 large boulders. He shook his fur roughly and squinted at the bright snow and licked his bleeding cut, hobbeling over to the nearest boulder and colasping ontop.
