Chapter One: The Frost Pack

A snowstorm blew over a frozen lake. Trees stood trembling in the cold. Above the noise of the storm a howl sounded, a howl of happiness. The alpha couple of the Frost pack had received their first litter. The alpha male stood outside the den howling with joy. Soon the whole pack was howling to celebrate these newborns. The alpha male went into the den. His mate lay calmly in the corner with three newborn pups. She raise her head and saw her mate. The alpha male came closer and snuggled his mate. He then looked at the pups. 'Safira, they're beautiful': he said. The pups were white as snow, like all the wolves from the Frost pack. There was one male and two females. The male was the firstborn; he was white with a little grey on each paw and a little in his tail. He was named Mailo. The second born was named Pearl; she was white with a pink glow on her fur. The last pup had a special colour. She was white with blue on the lower halfs of her front paws. Her left ear was also blue and she had a little blue in her tail. The real special part were the blue waves she had on both sides in her fur. While those blue parts were lgiht blue, her eyes were very dark blue with a light blue line around them. It looked as though her blue parts glowed, just like her grandma. That's why they named her after her grandma whose name was Froxie. This young femlae was named Frosty.

The next day Raider, the alpha male, stood next to the entrance of the den. A wolf walked towards him. The wolf looked old, but was pretty strong and energetic. He stopped in front of Raider. 'Hello alpha': the older wolf said. Żou don't have to call me alpha, you can call me by my name, dad': Raider responded. 'Alright son, I will if you call me by my name. You're always adressing me by wise alpha. I'm no longer the alpha. I gave up that rank when Froxie died'.'I now dad, I'm sorry. I'll call you by your name, Zogar'. They bowed to each other out of respect and then Zogar stepped into the den to see his grandchildren and to congratulate Safira. Raider stayed at watch for any danger near the denn. He was expecting to see Kael, his brother, come by. At the end of the day when Zogar was long gone, Kael came. 'There you are Kael. I was worried': Raider said. 'I'm fine, i was just busy': Kael responded. Raider raised an eyebrow, but ignored his doubts about Kael's excuse. 'So they're in there': Kael pointed out. 'Yes they are, but you'd better hurry. It's late and I think Safira is tired'. Kael went in and greeted Safira. He looked at the pups. When he saw Frosty he slightly felt threatened, because she looked so much like his mother Froxie. Froxie had always been aware, he was irritated of being the born out of four. Even though two of his brothers left to start their own packs, Raider was still above him, being the oldest. Kael had always hated to be the last to get a chance at becoming the alpha. Without looking at Safira or the pups he left the den quickly. Safira was so tired she didn't even notice. Raider came back in and snuggled her and then all the Frost wolves went to sleep.

In the early morning half of the pack was away on a hunt, including Raider. Safira woke up and walked towards the exit of the den. She looked outside where it was still dusk. Behind her she heard the pups crawling around. She made a squeeking sound to call the pups out. After some time they waggled outside. The pups were now about six weeks old. They now walked often about a mile away from the den, but always with their mother or an other adult wolf. Safira walked towards the middle of the pack were there was a little meat left. All the other wolves kept their head low in respect. Safira ate from the meat. When she was done the pups started harrassing the meat, fighting with each other. Safira lay down nearby and watched them. The other wolves were already continueing what they were doing. Some adult wolves were done and hungry and bit the pups so that they would move. The adults ate the meat and the pups ran to their mother to get a drink of milk. Suddenly Safira stood up and the pups fell on the ground. Raider was back with the other wolves from the hunt. They had brought a large caribou with them. The alpha's both ate untill they had enough, then the other wolves ate. The last ones were the pups. After they had enough the pups ran to their father to greet him and thank him. Mailo then walked to Kael and started jumping around him. Kael pushed him away and walked the other way. Next was Pearl who tried to get his attention, she too was pushed away. Frosty gave it a try, but Kael didn't push her away like the others. He froze a small puddle of water right at the moment that Frosty put one of her paws in it. Her paw was stuck in the frozen puddle. Kael came closer to her and whispered in her ear: 'Don't come near me again'. He then put his own weight on the puddle causing it to break. Frosty ran to her brother and sister and Kael was already gone, somewhere between the other wolves. He did that because he didn't like Frosty at all. She reminded him of his mother. His mother who always knew he was hoping or planning something. He felt threatened by Frosty. Frosty felt a little sad, but ignored her uncle and played with her brother and sister. She knew that she would get her water power when she was around two months old, like all Frost wolves got and frostpower when she was one year. She decided to stay low untill she could defend herself. Then she wouldn't have to be afraid of Kael anymore. With that thought she could relax and ran after her brother and sister.
