A dog walked through Nome with A calm look on his face. His name is Tavic and he had A lot on his mind, even though his face didn't show it.
"Tavic!" A voice shouted.
He turned around and ducked as something flew past his head at great speed.
It turned back around and landed in front of Tavic.
It was Benner, A ptarmigan that was his friend.
"What is it?"
"A miracle has just happened!!"
"Miracle? What are you...." He paused for A moment and A happy look came across his face as he realized what the miracle was.
He dashed past Benner as he flew after him.
"I don't believe it!!" He thought "It's finally happened!!"
All of the people looked back at him with A confused look as he passed them.
He stopped at A cave opening on the outskirts of Nome and calmed himself before he went in.
Inside, he saw A female dog with yellowish fur, lying down in the cave center.
"Desa....did...?"
She nodded her head. "Come look."
Tavic walked over and smiled as he saw 3 puppies nursing her.
"Wow." he said "They're adorable."
Desa nuzzled him and then turned her gaze to the puppies.
One had yellowish fur, taken after it's mother, Another had gray fur,and the last one had black fur,taken after it's father.
"Desa,i'm A little worried."
"Don't be. They'll grow up fine."
Suddenly,both of them heard A low growl.
They gasped in shock as A bear entered the cave with an angry look on it's face.
Desa whispered,"You said the bear wouldn't come back for another 2 hours."
"I must've miscalculated." Tavic whispered back.
The bear roared and charged at them. Tavic quickly shoved Desa and the pups out of the way. The bear came closer, growling sinisterly.
"Desa,take the pups and get out of here!" Tavic commanded.
"What about you?"
"I'll be fine,just go!!"
The bear charged at them again as Desa moved the pups out of the way and Tavic bit the bear's head.
It tried to shake him off, but he hung on tight. After A few attempts, the bear threw him into the cave wall and went after Desa.
She and the puppies were almost back to Nome, but the bear stopped them in their tracks.
It swiped it's paw at them,but it missed. It took another try and smacked Desa aside.
The bear glanced at the pups, preparing to swing again.
"NOOOO!" Desa screamed.
The bear swiped and the pup with the yellowish fur got swept aside.
Out of fear, the pup ran towards the forest.
"Come back!" Desa shouted as she tried to go after it. But the bear stood in her way and she bit it on the paw, swinging as the bear tried to get it off her.
Tavic rushed out of the cave and bit the bear's other paw. The bear managed to get them off,but soon fled afterwards.
"Are you okay?" Tavic asked.
"I'm fine," she answered "but during the attack.....one of the pups ran away."
"What?!" He shouted "We have to find it!!"
A lightning bolt struck the ground right beside them. A vicious storm arose and soaked the area with rain.
"It's to dangerous!! Let's go!!"
"But...!"
Desa pulled him by the neck as she carried the pups in her teeth.
Tavic looked back, thinking about the lost one.
The pup had sheltered itself inside A tree as it cowered in fear of the lightning.
It looked up and thunder boomed loudly as it went back to it's cowered position.
Meanwhile, Tavic and Desa had made it safely into an abandoned hut,which they lived in.
"That was too close for comfort." Desa said. She turned to the pups "Are you all right?"
They both yipped happily.
She then turned to Tavic, who was sitting by the fireplace with A depressed expression on his face.
"Your worried about it, aren't you?"
"Of couse i'm worried about it!! I need to go out their and find it!!"
"It's dangerous to go out there! We can wait 'till it stops!"
"What if it gets killed?!!! We need to..."
"Stay calm!" she finished.
Tavic lowered his face as he breathed A sigh. "I know....but,....he or she could be lost out there and....I don't want it to get hurt." He stared out the window as tears filled his eyes.
Desa nuzzled him. "Don't worry. I'm sure he or she is fine."
Tavic looked at her brushed up against her gently.
The storm had lasted for the entire day until the next morning. Tavic woke up as he yawned sleepily. He saw the two pups as they rested beside Desa. That brought A warm smile to his face.
She woke up as she saw him over her.
"Good morning, sleepyhead." Tavic said.
She laughed A little and looked at the pups.
"You know what I realized?" she said.
"What?"
"We haven't named them yet."
"Oh, your right!!"
Desa thought for A moment. "Why don't we each give them A name?"
"Good idea."
After checking to see if they were boys or girls, they each made A decision.
"I'll name her..." Desa said looking at the black one "Monae."
"And i'll name him..." Tavic said looking at the other one "Racu."
