Hi, I'm Charlie the German Shepherd. You all may know me you all may not. I don't know but this is a story about a friendship that can overlast anything. However, this would not be if not for a very special wolf-dog.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I looked at Sasha. She smiled at me and I looked at my 2 pups. There was Copper, a male puppy with my coloring and his mothers build but with my ears, and there was Golden, a female puppy with my build and her mother's coloring and ears. Sahsa and I were proud parents.

I heard a twig snap outside the door and walked to it to see what it was. There was a brown-gray wolf looking male dog before me.

"Sorry if I gave you a fright," he said. I shook my head.

  "It's alright," I replied.

  "I'm Balto," he said.

"Balto?" I asked. "Like the wolf-dog that saved Nome?"

  "Yeah," Balto chuckled.

"I'm Charlie," I said. Balto smiled.

"Well, you here on a vacation?" he asked.

"Yeah," I sighed. I wanted to go home. Too many dogs went around with their best friends and I wanted mine.

"You don't seem too happy," Balto commented.

"I'm not," I responded, hanging my head. "Though I should be used to it by now. He's gone."

"Who?" Balto looked confused and concerned.

  "My best friend," I replied.

"Did you get in a fight?" Balto asked. "I could ask my mate, Jenna to help. She's good at that." I shook my head.

"No," I said. "It's not  fight. It's worse. Balto, my best friend, Itchy, died."

 "I'm sorry," Balto murmured gently.

"Well..." I began. I don't really know how it happened but I ended up spilling my WHOLE (yes the whole complicated story) to Balto. When I finished Balto gave me a look that plainly said that he knew how to help.

"Follow me," he said, getting up. I followed Balto to a cliff and he looked at me.

  "Howl," he said.

  "It's singing," I stated.

"To you but to me it's a way of communication," Balto disagreed.

"Itchy won't see it like that because he's a Dachhound," I sighed.

"Dogs in heaven know everything remeber?" Balto said. I smiled.

"Yeah," I whispered. I tilted my head and howled.

In the distance, from the clouds, you could hear the faint howl of a Dachhound I know as Itchy.
