Alec
He was only a puppy, he didn't know what was going on around him in the world, why his dad was shouting at his mum, the women he had only known for a day but loved her so much. He loved her warmth, her voice, her scent. He was in his den when his mum moved, he called for her but stopped when he heard his dad's voice booming over hers. He waited there in the silence then heard the disturbence in his den, another scent filled his nose, not his mums but another female with his dads faintly in the background. He whimpered as he cuddled next to the female and as she nuzzled him, every night she would go and his dad would come back, keeping guard while Alec wondered about his mum and what had happened to her, why he no longer drank her milk but some one elses, why she had deserted them.
He took his first steps outside when he was a couple of months old, his dad told him not to step outside unless he was there, he looked around and saw other puppies playing with their siblings 'why haven't I got any sisters or brothers?' Alec would ask, his innocent eyes searching for an answer, 'because your mum was useless' Rocco replied and walked off. They walked until dusk and when they arrived at their destination Alec was overwhelmed about the tallness of the trees and the wideness of the forest, he ran to his dad looking for protection, all Rocco did was push him away and sat down, 'Alecca, you need to stay here the night, this will prove that you are worthy to be my son' Rocco heard the word as his fathers, the thought nearly brought him to tears but it had to be done. Alec simply nodded as his father walked off, leaving Alec, the little puppy on his own to defend for himself. He sniffed the air, sensing danger so he ran and ran until he got to a rabbits warren, he barked and sent the rabbits running and then moved himself into the warren, hoping that his dad would have second thoughts and return for him.
The morning air was refreshing and Alec ran to the edge of the forest, waiting for his dads return, he howled hoping for a reply but silence was his only answer. He started walking slowly, keepng his wars open for danger in the open space, any break of a twig but for some reason silence was more frightening then anything. Alec stuck his nose in the air and breathed in as deeply as he could and following his dad's scent he found their pack, eating. 'Dad!' Alec yelled and ran towards him, 'so you survived, congratulations' Alec smiled, appreciating the only bit of praise he has ever got and started eating that days kill, looking over at the puppy opposite him.
Him and that puppy, Meeka grew to be best friends over the following months, he hadn't seen her before but didn't care why, all he knew was that he was happy to have a friend that wasn't scared of his dad and that was just there when ever he needed her, day or night, whether it be to talk or to play, she was there.
Meeka
'Mummy!' The frightened pup looked around and shrank in fear due to the silence being broken by a gun shot, 'Daddy . . . ' she whispered, afraid to make another gun shot go off, she was only a couple of months old but she was born with a fear for loud noises. She heard a howl and laid down flat, hoping the grass was long enough to cover her and protect her. She closed her eyes, hoping for it all to dissapear, hoping for it to be a dream and that she will wake up cuddiling her mum and dad, but it didn't, she opened her eyes and saw that her feet were off the ground, she whimpered and kicked her back legs 'shhh pup, it's ok, I'll find you a home' She twisted her neck and looked at the wolf carrying her, he looked kind, soft but messy grey fur and big eyes, she relaxed and let him carry her.
He placed her down and she could smell other wolves in the area and walked closer to her savior. 'Rocco!' He shouted and she saw a black wolf appear behind the trees, 'Balto, I could sense you were coming, who's this?' the black wolf looked down at her, she felt frightened and intimidated. 'Rocco, this young pup needs a home' the grey wolf, Balto said and stared straight at Rocco. 'Why should I care, I dont need any more mouths to feed' he laughed and Meeka huddled back in between Balto's front legs, 'why? because I know you lost four daughters, think of a replacement, a replacement thats lost both of her parents to hunters, a replacement that is about the same age as your son' Rocco smiled and thought about this, 'Ok, she can live in the Oasis pack, come on' Meeka looked up at Balto and he smiled and nudged her gently towards Rocco, she obeyed and walked to her new home, where a fresh prey was on the ground, waiting for the alpha dog to start the meal. 'My name's Meeka' Meeka finally spoke, speaking to one of the other puppies who seemed too young to care about her name and was to busy chasing their tail. Meeka's ears perked up when she heard a twig move and to see a puppy about her aged emerging from behind the trees looking relieved, he was mainly blue with bright purple eyes, he would be her friend, she decided it there and then, her best friend.
Meeka looked up to see the puppy with purple eyes looking at her, she walked away from the meal and sat down on a rock, knowing that he would come up to say hi. She closed her eyes and let the wind go through her fur and barked at a butterfly that went by. 'Hello....' a voice was heard from behind her, she turnt around to see him. 'Hello, I'm Meeka' she jumped off the stone and smiled at him, 'I'm Alec!' he smiled back. They started playing and at night Meeka would sleep in the same den as Alec while Rocco slept outside, they would playfully nip at eachothers ears and tails until they were too exsausted to even play and let sleep carry them away.
A few months passed and the pack moved territory due to a bigger back closing in, the new territory was just big enough for them, a river running through the north of it and a forest to the south, Meeka noticed Alec moving closer to her when he looked at the forest and Meeka moved away, attempting to play a game but lost her footing and tripped, making Alec trip over her. 'Will you stop playing about, the adults are talking!' Rocco's voice boomed over their laughter and then there was silence. Alec looked up at him 'yes dad' they moved as far away from him as they could and started playing by the river bank. Alec jumped into the shallow end of the river where the water just washed over his paws and splashed Meeka, she jumped to pounce on him but he ducked, making her jump right over him into the deep end. She splashed about and screamed, 'Meeka!' Alec yelled, worried and confused about what to do, he dived in and opened his eyes but they couldnt adjust to the darkness of the dirty water, he brushed against something and pushed it upwards towards the surface and pushed it towards land, it was Meeka. 'Meeka, are you ok', she took a deep breath and her eyes shot open 'Alec, thank you' he laid down next to her, keeping her warm against the cold water and they fell asleep.
'What happened to you two?' was the question they awoke to, Rocco's eyes piercing into them, 'she fell into the water, I jumped in to save her' Alec stood up, standing in front of her, already accustumed to his fathers temper. Meeka looked at Alec and stood up, 'Should of let me known earlier, weakness shouldn't be in this pack, why do you think I banished your mum,' Alec's eyes grew wider, Meeka was shocked, Alec had told her a few times about his mum and how she just disappeared, she felt sorry for Alec, learning the truth this way. Alec growled, 'Alec come on, lets go' Meeka nuzzled him and he turnt to her and his eyes instantly softened and they walked off towards the forest.
Marlette
She looked down at her son, the only surviver out of the litter and licked his head gently, making sure not to frighten him, 'Marlette, come here!' She looked at Alec and smiled, she carefully got up and walked around him, he looked liked her, everyone said so. 'Yes Rocco?' she looked at her once only love, he had changed so much after the passing away of her other pups, it was a harsh winter, it was a miracle Alec survived. They didn't make much of a couple, she looed so small towards him, his fiery temper was over whelming, but she was the only one who calmed him, who relaxed him, the only one who loved him no matter what but she wasn't prepared for the words that were about to come out of his mouth, 'Marlette, your banished' he couldn't look her in the eyes, 'look at me and tell me why' she said, relaxed. 'why? because you let the puppies die!' he shouted, the other pack members tried not to look but she caught the eyes of some of them and they looked away. 'You cant!' she shouted 'it wasn't my fault, it was cold, your lucky Alec survived!' She walked up to him, looked him in the eye whether he liked it or not, he growled, 'go now, if you come back, I will kill you, I give you my word!' she gasped and looked around, looked towards the den and saw another female walk in, her replacement, Alec needed mik, her heart broke in two as she walked away and heard Alec whimper and Rocco howl.
She walked for what felt like hours until she smelt it, people. She ran to the boat she knew Balto was usually at, she howled into the night and laid down, waiting for a reply and then it came, Balto ran up to her, 'Marlette, is that you?' she smiled and nodded, 'I need your help,' the tears flowed out and Balto howled, Jenna soon appeared and helped calm her down 'whats wrong Marlette?' she asked. Marlette looked at her, 'Iv'e been banished, I've lost my pack and Iv'e lost my pup!' Marlette tried to smile but she just couldnt, it felt wrong. Jenna looked at Marlette with sympathetic eyes and asked 'what can we do?' They came up with a plan. Balto was a very old friend of Rocco, he would have to do as he says, Balto knew of a couple who no longer wanted a puppy, they were two rogues and could barely support themselves, let alone a puppy, he would run into the forest to meet them and then run near some hunters, making them fire their guns, Balto would pick up the puppy and take her to Rocco, making up some story for him to accept her, then he would steal Alec back, it seemed perfect, the little puppy would be with a new and supporting home, Rocco would tell her that her parents were killed by hunters, she would believe it, she heard the gun shots, it may of seemed cruel but it was for the better, she was an accident and Alec would be back with his loving mum.
Marlette paced up and down the boat, Jenna calming her down when she got hysterical and howling, trying to place Balto, she never got a reply though. 'Where is he Jenna?' he asked, 'I don't know Marlette, their fine I'm sure!' She laughed but Marlette didnt reply the joyful sound. Balto came running up, Marlette searched the space around him and looked down at her paws, cant believing she got her hopes up so much. 'I'm so sorry Marlette, Rocco sensed me, he met me outside of the pack territory, he was angry, I dropped off the puppy, she's safe but I couldnt see Alec anywhere, I'm so sorry' Balto sat down and nudged her slightly. 'It's ok, Alec will be fine,I need to go now!' Marlette ran off and became a rogue wolf, every time she smelt another wolf she hoped it was Alec but it never was, how would she know though, his scent may of changed, but she was clinging to that hope that they were in the same place and the scent was the same but most of all she was clinging to the hope that he would turn out nothing like his father was now.
The couple
It was fate for them two, love at first sight, puppy love had grew and they never split. Meeka and Alec. He loved the fact that she was so free spirited, so happy , so well lovable. She loved the fact that he stood up for her when his dad made snide remarks, the fact that he would still play even though they were both a year old and considered to old for that, the fact that he promised that he would never leave her or let her fall. They ran along the beach at night when no humans were there, they ran through the forest chasing squirells, Alec always stayed close to her in the forest, they ran near the river, Alec always went nearest the river. They knew each others weakness' and strengths and they worked with them, another pack member had once called them soul mates.
The years passed and they grew closer, they slept in the same den, ate at the same time, they cried with laughter and cried with sadness. Rocco looked on with disapproval, he never liked Meeka, saw her as weak and hopeless but Alec didn't care what his dad thought, he didnt care about his dad at all. 'Alec, we need to speak' Rocco came over and stepped between him and Meeka, Meeka walked away and played with the puppies of the pack but she bent her ears backwards to hear what they were saying, she didnt trust Rocco. 'Alec, you have come to three years of age where you must choose which path to take, you can now stay in the pack and become alpha wolf or you leave and start your own pack, but there are no wolves here suitable for you.' Meeka felt her heart strings pull and Alec shot his eyes open, surely his dad would of come to terms with him and Meeka, he hadn't officially asked her to be his mate, he was scared of frightening her off but he loved her. Alec looked at his dad with disgust, 'I'm going!' Alec rose his voice so Meeka could hear and she smiled. 'Meeka lets go!' Alec shouted, 'You are not leaving with her!' Rocco shouted. 'Alec, maybe you . . .' Meeka whispered and shrunk back, she hated loud noises, even loud voices. 'Why because you dont approve?! You never approve, you never have and never will!' Alec squared up to his dad, 'I am your father!' Rocco growled, 'You are my father, I hate that thought, I hate you, you never approve, you never approved of mum, did you? so what if she only gave you one son, look how he turned out, nothing like you!' Alec walked away and Meeka followed.
'Are you ok?' Meeka looked at Alec's deep breathing and nudged him slightly with her nose and licked his ear. 'I'm sorry Meeka, I hate it when Rocco does that, I sort of got like him then, got his temper.' Alec closed his eyes and put his head over Meeka's, inhaling her breath. Alec let his mind race, about the past and about the future and in each part he couldnt help but see Meeka, it was time. 'Meeka . . . look I love you' 'Your dad would never approve' 'Your dad would never approve' 'Alec . . . I think . . . I know I love you to'
Alec licked Meeka's ear and smiled, they had been on their own for a few months and had never been happier, 'Alec, how would you feel about starting our own pack?' he looked at her surprised, her words came out of nowhere, 'your pregnant?' Alec looked at her stomach and then at her and all she did was nod and smile, 'I'm pregnant'
