Jenna stared out the window. She smiled as she remembered the first time she and Balto met.
Jenna walked down the street with her friends. She saw Steele run down an alley, snarling. Jenna imediatly thought that he was going to hurt another dog. She raced after him.
"AH!" she heard Dixie cry. "Jenna wants Steele!" Jenna didn't bother to correct her friend. She finally arrived right behind Steele. In front of him was a brownish colored dog. He was about her age but was largly built.
"Get out, wolfdog," Steele growled at him.
"My name's Balto," the dog said. Jenna noticed a goose by his side.
"But he idiot," the goose sighed.
"Borris," hissed Balto.
"Balto," shrugged Borris.
"Balto?" asked Steele. "Wierd name. It fits."
"Leave him alone, Steele," Jenna snarled, walking beside Balto. "He's purer than you."
"Jenna?" Steele cried. "He's half wolf!"
"I don't care if he's half cat," Jenna snapped. "He's nicer than you! And again he's purer!"
"How can you say that?" demanded Steele.
"It's true," Jenna growled. Balto grinned at her.
"I'm proud to be me," Balto told Steele. "Are you proud to be you?"
"Y-yes!" Steele cried. "Of course! I have pure blood!"
"Pure blood doesn't make you pure!" Jenna snapped.
"It's what's inside your heart that makes you pure," Balto growled.
"Jenna, come with me!" Steele demanded.
"Nope," Jenna replied. "Never!" Steele snarled and ran out of the alley. Jenna turned to Balto.
"I'm Jenna," she said.
"Balto."
Jenna smiled. She had never thought that she should have gone with Steele. Balto was her mate and she loved him like he loved her. It would always be like that.
