It's a sunny morning in Nome. Kodi and his two brothers Stark and Hunter are walking down the street talking and laughing. Kodi suddenly stops and looks ahead.
Stark: What is it?
They look down the street and see Dusty coming there way.
Hunter: Oh I get you like her.
Kodi: Well yeah, but shes too pretty for me.
Stark: I see you looking at her alot. Why don't you ask her out?
Kodi: Thats crazy.
Hunter: What do you got to lose?
Kodi: Good point!
Dusty walks past them.
Dusty: Hey Hunter, Stark, Kodi.
She keeps on walking and Stark lightly punches Kodi.
Kodi: Ok, ok. Hey Dusty!
Dusty: Yeah, Kodi?
Kodi: I was wondering if you would like to go out with me sometime?
Dusty smiles and shakes her head up and down.
Dusty: I'd loved to.
Kodi looks back to his brothers and smiles and the smile back.
Kodi: Great, I know a place to go. I can promise you that you'll love it. I'll come and pick you up later. How's that sound?
Dusty: Ok, I'll wait at my house later.
She leaves and Kodi goes back to his brothers.
Stark: Told you!
Hunter: Now what? You have no idea what to do on date.
Kodi: Your right. I need advice from someone who knows how to impress a girl.
They all look at each other.
All: Dad.
Kodi goes running on to the beach and gos on to his dad's boat. He looks and sees his dad sleeping under his blanket.
Kodi: Dad wake up I need your help!
Balto wakes up alarmed.
Balto: Huh, what! Kodi what's up!?
Balto gets up and strechs out.
Balto: What's the problem son?
Kodi: I'm going on a date.
Balto: Now that is a problem. Is it Dusty?
Kodi: How did you know?
Balto: Well it's everyone knows that you like her. And some say that you two are perfect for each other.
Kodi: Who said that Stark?
Balto: Your mom mostly says that.
Kodi: I can her saying that. But my point is that I need your help.
Balto: With what?
Kodi: I know where i want to take her for dinner but I want to impress her with something.
Balto: Like what?
Kodi: Something amazing, something that makes a girl smile.
Balto looks out to the ocean and looks back to Kodi.
Balto: Come with me. I know the perfect thing.
They go into the boiler room.
Kodi: What are we doing here?
Balto slips into a hole in the wall that leads under the hospital.
Kodi: What is this place? It's cold and dark.
Balto: The most beautiful place in the world.
Kodi: How so?
They go into the back and Balto puts some broken bottles in the light where you can see up into the hospital.
Balto: Sun.
Balto moves out of the light.
Balto: And to the north.
Kodi looks on to the wall and sees the Northern lights.
Kodi: My god! How did you know about this place?
Balto: This is the place where I took your mother on our first date.
Kodi: Amamzing! Can I show this to Dusty?
Balto: Of course you can.
Kodi nuzzels his dad and they both leave.
Later it gets dark. Dusty is sleeping on her porch and Kodi come up to her.
Kodi: Dusty.
She wakes up.
Dusty: Oh hey, are you ready?
Kodi: Yeah, you hungry?
Dusty: Starving. Where are you taking me?
Kodi: How does the best spot in twon sound you?
Dusty: That sounds great!
They walk down Nome it is pertty dark but some of the shops are stil open. Kodi and Dusty walk together and stop at a butcher shop.
Dusty: What's this place?
Kodi: Were gonna eat here?
Dusty: Why here?
Kodi: Trust me.
They go in and no one there.
Dusty: There's no one hear.
Kodi: He's usely in the back.
Kodi barks.
Voice: I now that bark!
Dusty: Who's that.
Kodi: Ben the Butcher. He's a nice guy.
A man comes out from the back.
Ben: Kodi! How's my favorite wolf dog!?
He gets down to Kodi's size and Kodi goes up to Ben's face and licks him.
Ben: That's my boy!
He looks over Kodi and sees Dusty.
Kodi: Oh I see your on a date. Ok, wait outside and I'll be right back.
They both go outside and they sit down on the porch.
Dusty: You seem to know him well.
Kodi: Well he just loves dogs alot and after my dad saved Nome he gave my dad food all the time. And after my mom had us he feeds us whenever we want some food. And I come here on special occasions.
Dusty: He is a nice guy. How is his food?
Kodi: He makes the best meat in town and he save the best meat for the dogs.
Ben comes out of the store and he has two plates in his hand and he sets them down.
Ben: Dinner is served. I won't interupte in any way.
He goes back to inside. Ben turns on the porch lights and turns the inside lights off. Dusty looks at her food and sniffs it.
Dusty: Looks intresting.
She chuckles nervesly and look at her food and takes a small bit.
Dusty: Oh my god! This is the best meat ever.
Kodi smiles
Kodi: The best girl ever diserves the best food.
Kodi starts to eat and Dusty looks up with a suprised look on her face. She smiles and they keep eating. Later they are walking down the street.
Dusty: That was great!
Kodi: I know..
Kodi burps and Dusty falls down laughing. Kodi laughs too.
Dusty: So do you want ot talk?
Kodi: Yeah sure. Let's go to the docks.
They sit down at the end of the dock that looks out to the sea.
Dusty: It's beautiful.
Kodi: I know! look how the moon and the stars reflect off the water. So tell me about yourself.
Dusty: Well not much to say. My mom died giving birth to me and my siblings. But my dad was good enough to raise us until we were ready to get picked up. I was about a year old and i found out that I was fast and I tried out for the mail team and made it. But enough about me how about you?
Kodi: Well I was rasied by the hero of Nome and to tell you the truth I was the slowest of siblings when I was a pup.
Dusty: You? WIth the way you run I don't beleive that!
Kodi: My dad noticed it too and he trained me to be a fast runner like him. And a few months after I was picked up, I was able to run as fast as my dad.
Dusty: You must be proud that you were raised by a hero.
Kodi: That's why am a part of the mail team, I wanted to help the town like my dad did.
Dusty: What's it like being rasied by a wolf-dog?
Kodi: I'm proud of my heritage. I'm proud to be the son of a hero. And one other thing, on the day that I became as fast as my dad i saw something amazing.
Dusty: What?
Kodi: I was running down the beach and I stopped on a small hill and I saw a few dog playing. In one of those dogs caught my eyes and it was like staring at an angle. And it was you Dusty.
Dusty: What do you mean?
He tone is calm and nervious.
Kodi: I love you Dusty. I always have.
Dusty: I love you too Kodi.
They nuzzle each other and Dusty rubs her head on Kodi's neck. Kodi looks at her.
Kodi: I have something to show you.
They go to the boiler room and are walking under the floors of the hospital.
Dusty: This is a werid place.
Kodi: It's the most beautiful place in the world.
Dusty: How so?
Kodi: This.
He pushes a bunch of the broken bottles into the light.
Kodi: The poler ice caps.
Dusty: What are you doing? Those are the broken bottles.
Kodi: And to the north.
He steps out of the way of the light and Dusty looks over to the wall and sees the northern lights.
Dusty: Wow thats amazing! How did you know about this place?
Kodi: It's the place where my dad took my mom out and this is the spot where they started showing that they loved each other.
Dusty: It's beautiful.
Kodi: Yeah. Beauttiful.
She looks to him and they nuzzle each other again
Dusty: I allways had feeling that you loved me. And what you said at dinner was told me that you love me.
Kodi: I couldn't resist saying that.
Dusty: I think we should get going it's pretty late.
Kodi: Yeah, lets go.
The next day many dogs are in amazed seeing Kodi and Dusty are walking together. They pass Hunter and Stark.
Kodi: Go ahead Dusty I'll be there in a second.
Kodi goes over to them.
Hunter: I cant belive it.
Kodi: What did you think was goanna happen?
Hunter: That you were goanna puke the second the date started.
Stark wacks him behind the head.
Stark: Shut up! Good job Kodi.
Kodi: Thanks Stark. I have to go.
Stark watches as his brother walks down the street and joins his mate. Kodi and Dusty walk together laughing.
Balto walks out of an alley and sees Koid and Dusty together. Kodi looks and sees Balto.
Kodi: There's my dad can you give me a second?
Dusty: Of course. Tell him I said thanks.
Kodi runs over and rubs his head on Balto's neck.
Balto: Judging by that you two walking together means that it went well.
Kodi: It did, I told her I love her and she said that she's always loved me.
Balto: This could be the start of a family for you son.
Kodi: Whoa!! We've been together one day, lets not get that on our minds.
Balto: Just kidding Kodi. Your mother is goanna freak out when she hears about this.
Kodi: I know. I have to go. Bye dad.
Balto: See yeah Kodi.
Kodi: Oh yeah, dad?
Balto: Yes.
Kodi: Dusty says thanks.
Balto: Tell her I said thanks back.
Kodi runs back to Dusty and they keep on walking. Balto starts to walk away but turns around.
Balto: Bye Kodiak!!
Balto turns around and leaves.
Kodi: Oh why did he have to say that?
Dusty: I don't know. Kodiak?
Kodi: Don't ask.
They walk down the street. Later that night Kodi and Dusty swore that they will go every where and be together forever.
