Romeo's POV

I sighed sadly. It had been about a year since my mate, Terry broke up with me for someone more her type. I don't really know why I was so torn up about it, it's not like she and I were planning on starting a family, but I was. I rested my head on my paws and thought of my mother, Twilight.

I missed her like crazy. My insane aunt went crazy or something because my mom "stole" her man. My aunt Tessa killed my mother than ran off. Apparently she's hunting for me and the rest of my family. My father told us that she wanted to finish what she started. But what scared me the most is that no one had heard or seen of her for about 6 months.

I sighed deeply and closed my eyes, letting the warmth of the sun light my fur. Soon, I was able to drift off into a nice slumber.

~~ "Romeo! Hey Romeo!" I heard someone yelling my name. I looked up and noticed Terry, my ex mate. "Hi...Terry.?" I asked questioningly. Terry flashed me a melting smile. I smiled. "So, Romeo. Romeo, Romeo, Romeo. I thought I should let you know that the reason I broke up with you is because..." She reached up and pulled off her face. "Im Tessa and I have something that i need to finish!" She lunged for my throat..~~

My eyes snapped open. I could feel my heart thumping heavily. Sweat dripped off my shaggy bangs. "Oh my god." I panted. That was scary. Even though it was just a dream. I didn't quite feel like sleeping anymore, so I decided to go and visit my father.

I jumped off my porch and landed in the melting snow. The slush sprayed up, making my paws wet. I ran across the street and a few houses down, entering my father's house throught the doggy door. I enjoyed visiting my father because his house was cozy. Or was. The sight shocked me. The table was knocked over and the rugs were torn. Lamps were broken and chairs turned upside down.

"Dad?" I called out. "Dad are you here?" I carefully walked through the house. I noticed him laying in a bedroom. The bed was on its side and he lay against it. "Dad!" I exclaimed. I ran over to his side and put my head against him. I could hear his heart beating softly. "Dad! What hapened?" I yelped, knowing very well what, but i hoped I was wrong.

"Rom..." Dash said. "Dad!" I lay next to him. "Was this Tessa?" I asked. He half nodded. "Oh. ouch." He winced. I looked him over for damages. I walked around him and suddenly felt warm liquid on the bottom of my feet. I looked down and noticed I was standing in a puddle of blood. "Dad." I said again. I gently turned him over and noticed a bunch of his fur missing and his skin torn, just above his rib cage. The blood was starting to clot but the injury didnt look to good. "Shit!" I gently put him on my back. I brought him carefully out of the house and ran him to the vet.

Miley's POV

I was sitting on the couch when I got the news. My human pup, Jacqueline, walked into the room, talking on that bone. "What? Samuel's dog is dead?......Oh, he's at the vet's....well what happened?......And how did you know he was injured?.........Romeo?......Oh! Okay.....Yes.......Of course......No doubt!.....Sure sure.....Miley and I will be there soon...Okay thank you...Good bye." Jacky hung up and looked at me. "Come on Miley. Your father is at the vet." My eyes widened. "What!" I barked. Jacky grabbed my leash and clipped it onto my pink collar. I basically dragged her out of the house.

As soon as we entered the clinic, I noticed a dog on the waiting room couch. "Romeo!" I barked happily. Jacky let me go and see him. "What happened!" I exclaimed. "Tessa..." Was all he said to me. I noticed a tear roll out of his eye. "No..is he..." I couldnt bring myself to say the "d" word. "No, No Miley. He isn't dead and he won't be! He will be fine!" Romeo snapped angrily. I shrunk back. "Sorry..." I whispered. "It's okay. I'm sorry. That wasn't neccesary." I put my head on his furry shoulder and looked at him with big brown eyes. "I hope she can't get to him again."

Romeo nodded. "Me to. We need to protect eachother. We can't let her finish what she started." I nodded again. I noticed Jacky go into the room. I jumped off the couch and put my front paws on the door so I could look into the window. I saw my dad laying on the operating table. "He looks terrible.." I whispered. Romeo walked over to my side. "He will be fine. He's strong. We don't need to worry about him." Romeo told me. 'I hope' He thought.

"Come on. Let's go visit Dontay and Coby." Romeo said. He gently tugged me away from the window. "Okay." I said. We walked out of the clinic and towards the woods. Dontay and Coby were neighbors. They lived right beside the woods. I was sure we would see Dontay fooling around in the woods somewhere.

We arrived at their houses shortly and just as I had suspected, Dontay was in the woods. But he wasn't horsing around. He was just sitting there. A glassy look in his eyes. "D?" I asked. When he didnt reply, I tore away from Romeo and ran over to him. "Dontay!?" I exclaimed. Dontay looked at me, his eyes filled with tears. "What happened?" I asked, kind of afraid of the answer. "It's Cobes." He said.

"What happened? What happened to Coby!?" I barked, frightened. "Don't tell me that Tessa got to him!" I freaked out. Romeo had reached us and noticed me going into a frenzy. "Come down Miles." He said. "Tessa got to Coby!" I screamed. "No. Not Tessa." Dontay said. "What? Who else had a grudge against mom then? Who else would want to end her family?" I asked. "Well, Coby's death was more of an accident." He said. "Don't tell me YOU killed him." Dontay glared at me. "WHY WOULD YOU THINK THAT! I WOULD NEVER AND MUST I REPEAT, NEVER KILL HIM!" He screamed at me.

Dontay's POV

I stared Miley and Romeo in the eyes. "Coby and his human, Dustin, were driving to White Mountain i think it was, they were gunna go ice fishing or something, and this big Mack truck turned a corner and plummeted into them. Their SUV went flying in the air and landed on it's roof some feet away. The mack settled into the ditch but the SUV was totalled. Dustin was able to get out with a few major injuries, mostly just a broken neck, which made him paralyzed now. But the "excitement" was to much for Cobes. It was a deathly accident for him." I explained. I noticed Miley's eyes explode with tears.

"No! Not Coby!" Miley cried. She lay on the ground and put her head in her paws. My poor sister, she was the runt of the our family. All this news was way to much for her to handle. "Miles..." I whispered. Romeo lay next to her and tried to comfort her. "Mom, Karmen, Dad, and now Coby!" She cried. "Wait what? What happened to Dad?" I exclaimed. Romeo looked at me. "Tessa got to him. He's not dead, but he's pretty injured. I went to visit him earlier and his house was completly ransacked." I shook my head. "we got to stop her." I whispered. Miley stood up.

"I don't know about you guys but I am put up with Tessa's f*cking shit! I'm gunna kill her.." Miley growled. Even though she was tiny, she was fierce.

"No, come on Miley, she's bigger than you. We don't need you gone to." Romeo said. "Thanks for the support guys. Glad to know you believe in me." She scoffed. I shook my head. "Let's go see dad guys. Come on." I pushed Miley and Romeo out of the woods and we walked back to the clinic.

Romeo's POV

Miley, Dontay, and I walked into the clinic and we saw Jacky and the vet walk out of the room, shaking their heads. I glanced at Miley and she cocked her head in confusion. Jacky bent down and took Miley's ears in her hands. "Im terribly sorry girl." She hugged Miley. "And 3, 2, 1" I said to Dontay. Miley jumped back and growled like crazy. She was yelping and freaking out. "Calm down Mile. It's okay girl. Sssh." "It's not okay! Our dad is dead!" Miley screamed to us. She turned away from Jacky and bolted out of the room. Dontay and I glanced at eachother and ran after her.

"Miley! Miley! MILEY!" We screamed. I ran as fast as I could and was able to circle her and get her to stop running. She skidded to a halt and and glared at us. "What are you doing Miles?" We asked. "I'm gunna kill her." We noticed she was breathing heavily, and her eyes were huge. We could practically see the fire and hate for Tessa.

"Come on Mile. Let's not be hasty." Dontay started. Miley turned to him. "Shut up Dontay. you sound stupid right now." She growled. "Whoa, i sound stupid? I sound stupid! You may wanna re-think that Miley."

Miley rolled her eyes. What the three dogs didnt know was that a certain evil figure was watching them from afar. Studying their every move. Her brown eyes were smiling. "3 down, 3 to go." She laughed. She slowly made her way down the hill.

Miley's POV

"What was that?" I asked. "What?" Romeo asked. "I heard a branch snap or something." I said. Romeo and Dontay glanced into the woods. "Romeo, did you see that?" Dontay asked. They glanced at eachother and stared into the woods. The three young dogs' fur stood up. Dontay took a step towards the woods and before any of them knew what happened, a black figure jumped out and attacked him. I noticed it was Tessa. She had him pinned to the ground and was snapping ferociously at his throat. He thrashed about violently.  

My eyes went huge. I didn't know what to do. Romeo, though, charged at them. He pressed his huge body to Tessa's and they both flew. They landed apart from eachother about 15 feet away. Romeo got up and ran at Tessa. He leapt on her and the two snarled and bit at eachother. I didn't know what I could do. But I felt my upper lip curl back in a fierce growl. I felt my fur ripple and all the adrenaline in my body built up.

I lunged at Tessa, knocking her backwards against a tree. I had her pinned against the tree and just as I went for her neck, she kicked me away easily. I landed on my back and whimpered. I noticed Dontay run at Tessa. He took her down easily, but the fight didn't last long.

Tessa ducked when Romeo lunged for her throat. That made him knock his face against the tree. Blood flowed out of his nose and he slowly fell backwards. Tessa watched him fall into a heap on the ground. She chuckled slightly. "What a pity. Such a handsome dog. And he has to go to waste." She shook her head and slowly bit his throat. She sunk her teeth in, deeper and deeper. "Ahh!" Romeo managed to scream.

I felt tears rolling out of my eyes. I couldn't do anything. I then noticed Dontay manage to stand and he pummeled into Tessa. But not before she managed to tear apart Romeo's neck.

Dontay's POV

I jumped on Tessa just as she turned to Miley. "Enough is enough!" I screamed. I bit at Tessa. I went for her throat but she pulled away and looked at me with big brown eyes. I stopped for a second and she said, "Dontay, do not kill me. Find the will underneath. Find the will." She whispered. I sighed sadly. I dropped to the ground and turned my back on her. I started to walk to Miley which probably wasn't the best idea.

I noticed Miley's eyes go big. "Don..." She started. Suddenly I felt a whole bunch of weight on top of me. I knew it was Tessa but she had me on the ground. She was on my back and I couldnt kick her off. I was beginning to get frightened. "Don't kill me! Don't kill me!" I screamed.

"You were always a gullible pup." Tessa cackled. She threw herself down on me and grabbed my paw in her mouth. She pulled back and I could hear the sick sound of my snapping bone. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH" I screamed loudly in pain. "No!" I could hear Miley yelling. I felt Tessa sink her teeth into my neck. I looked around. Everything was going hazy.

"I love you Miley." I managed to whisper. I closed my eyes and felt myself go numb and limp.

Miley's POV

I watched as Tessa pulled her teeth out of Dontay. "One more." She said. She lunged for me. I covered my face with my paws. But when she didn't land on me, like i was expecting her too. I looked up. I saw her laying against a rock. A white light was walking towards me.

I pulled myself away. "Get away! Get away! Get away from me!" I screamed. The light faded into a figure. It stood before me and I recognized it. "Mom!?" I asked. "Miley. I will always love you no matter WHAT happens." She said. "Are-are-are you a ghost?" I managed to whisper. "I don't believe in the term. I am more a spirit. And even though I am no longer with you in life, I will ALWAYS be with you in heart."

I stood up slowly and ran at her. "I love you mom." I said. I felt tears rolling out of my eyes. Twilight looked down at me. "Do what you have to Miles." She said. I looked at her and she slowly faded into the on-coming fog.

I looked over at Tessa. She slowly got up. "You ruined my family. I won't let you finish what you started!" I screamed. I rammed into Tessa. I sent her flying. "You're a bitch!" I screamed. "Miley, no!." Tessa yelled.

I jumped on her and mauled her. I felt a bunch of power overcome my body. I felt like a whole new dog. I drew my lips back over my teeth and flashed them at Tessa. I saw the fear in her eyes. She tried to kick me off but the power that was being built up in my body provided more strength for my tiny structure.

I growled menacingly. Then I scratched and clawed at her face and bit her paw. I yanked hard, popping off her paw. It hung limply to her body. "OOOOWWWW!" She screamed. Then I bit at her eyes and face. "Miley, don't do this." She squeaked.

"Why should I stop? You killed my whole family!" I screamed at her. I felt my heart pumping three times more than it should be. The adrenaline and power in my body, mixed together, making me go into a raging frenzy. I had had enough of Tessa and her shit. "I'm ending this tonight!" I yelled.

Then I bent my head and chewed non-stop at her throat. I felt the blood on my teeth which made me want more. I finally had her snout in my mouth and she stared up at me with big brown eyes. And with a twist of my head, i snapped her head like a twig. I dropped her body on the ground and breathed heavily.

I looked at the greusome scene around the woods. These woods used to be so peaceful and now they were filled with blood and hate. My two brothers were laying completly still in puddles of blood. Tessa was laying still as well, blood slowly circling her.

I could taste her blood drying on my mouth and teeth. I sat down, sad, and completly alone.

Tears rolled down my cheeks. I had no one anymore. My grandparents had died of old age, my parents were dead and all my siblings. I was alone in this world with no one to lean on. But I guess that even though I'm alone, doesn't mean that I am completly. I still have them in my heart.

I stood and walked slowly out of the woods. I saw Jacky sitting on the clinic steps with her daughter, Mari-ann. I walked over to them and Mari-ann hugged me tightly. "I love you Miley." She said. I glanced back at the woods and seen the white figure that had appeared earlier. She smiled at me and lifted her head and howled into the heavans.
