Tessa and Twilight stretched in the sunlight that poured over them. It was a Saturday and they had nothing to do. Tessa  just wanted to sleep but Twilight wanted to go to the beach. The snow had all melted and now the water was warm enough to swim in. Tessa argued with Twilight. Twilight got up. "Fine. If you don't want to go to the beach, I will." She stalked out of the house, leaving Tessa behind.

Twilight lay on the beach, watching people as they surfed and snorkeled. It looked like so much fun. Twilight twitched with excitement. She got up and the sunlight shone on her white coat, making it shine. Twilight stood up and walked towards the water. She dove in. Soaking her fur. Her paws worked steadily as she swam out into the ocean. Then she heard someone calling her name. "Twilight! Twilight!" Twilight turned around and saw her father, Balto calling her.

Twilight swam back to shore. Balto asked her, "How come you left Tessa at home?" Balto looked stern. Twilight answered, "Because she didn't want to come to the beach and I did." Twilight gazed into her father's eyes. Balto nodded but then he said, "Okay but you have to come back in half an hour." Before Twilight could reply, Balto walked off back home.

Twilight smiled and went back to frolicing in the water. Something caught her eyes, so she stopped. The most adorable dog that she as ever seen walked into the water. "Hey." He said to Twilight. Twilight gazed into his eyes. He had ocean blue eyes and was very dark gray with white legs and a white snout. He introduced himself as Dash.

Twilight smiled once more but didn't know what she should say to him. Dash talked to her and she answered him when she had the chance. They got into a comfortable conversation. Twilight liked Dash and she was pretty sure that Dash liked her. For, he kept moving closer to Twilight when she moved closer to the ocean.

After a while, Twilight said, "Dash. Sorry. I have to go. My father told me that I have to be home since I left my sister, Tessa all alone." With that, Twilight ran away from the beach, her head mixed with a bunch of odd thoughts.

When she got home, Tessa was no where to be found. "Tessa? Tessa? Tess?" Twilight called. There was no reply. Twilight franticly searched the house for her sister. She thought, This isn't good. Dad is going to KILL me! Twilight screamed, "TESSA!" Then there was a rumble and a stumble. Finally, a bedroom door opened and Tessa walked sleepily out. "Tessa!" Twilight cried.

Tessa rubbed her eyes and asked, "what?" Twilight nuzzled her (a sister nuzzle) and looked her directly in the eye. "Tessa? What do you want to do? Dad told me that when I get back, that you and I have to do something together." Tessa thought for a second. "How about we go to the beach?" Twilight looked at Tessa as if she was some sort of nut case. "WELL! WHY DIDN'T YOU COME WITH ME WHEN I WENT!?!?" Twilight screamed. Tessa replied coolly, "Well... I didn't want to go then." She  said with a simple shrug and then said, "I am going to get my suntan lotion."

Twilight shook her head and sighed, "Atleast one good thing will come out of this. Dash might still be there." She told herself. She smiled and got herself organized. Twilight stood by the door, waiting for Tessa, herself all perky and smiles.

Tessa finally got to the door, towel in paw, the two walked through the oak doors and headed to the beach. They walked for 5 minutes and finally felt sand squish between their toes. "Dont't you just love it?" Tessa asked Twilight. But when she asked, Twilight had spotted Dash. "Oh yea. He is just the most handsome." Twilight replied, dreamily.

Tessa looked at her and rolled her eyes. Then she bounded towards the waters. She splashed in but just as she did, she spotted the most handsome dog she had ever seen. She stumbled over to him. "Hey." She said in a sugar sweet voice. The dog  looked at her and smiled. "Hey." He replied. "My name's Tessa." Tessa told him. "Well. My name's Dash." The dog replied. He flashed Tessa another smile. Tessa almost melted. He was soooo cute!!!!! Tessa walked back to Twilight, happy as a cat that just ate a bird.

"Why are you so happy?" Twilight asked. Tessa replied, "I just met the most amazing guy in the world." Twilight looked uncertain then asked, "What's his name?" Tessa replied, looking dreamy, "Dash." Twilight realized that it must not be the same Dash that she met. Twilight smiled and said, "Introduce me to him." So Tessa took Twilight to Dash.

When Twilight saw him, she knew that it was the same Dash. She narrowed her eyes when Tessa said, "Dash this is my sister, Twilight." Dash looked at Twilight and said, "Haven't we met before?" Twilight stiffled a laugh then nodded. Tessa looked at Dash then back at Twilight. SHe opened her mouth to say something, whe Twilight automatically said, "Tess. We better get home. Dad and mom will be looking for us."

Tessa winked at Dash and she and Twilight went home. When they entered the house, the linoleum felt cold against Tessa's paws. Twilight growled at her. "Don't try to make a move on Dash. WE met first. And WE are going to be mate's." Tessa looked at her. "Why would he choose you over me? I mean, that's like theoratically impossible since I am WAY prettier."

Twilight didn't know what to say so she stormed upstairs. That night, Twilight thought about what Tessa had said. The thoughts stung her as she fell asleep, thinking about Dash.

For the next week, the girls didn't talk to eachother at all. They hadn't said one word since the  day they got back from the beach. Balto and Jenna on the other hand, were very worried about their daughters. Balto tried talking to Twilight and Tessa at once and helping them at the same time but that made the girls stay away from eachother longer. Balto and Jenna didn't know what to do.

Finally, after about 2 months, Tessa spoke. "Twilight. Pass the milk." Twilight shoved the milk over to Tessa. She grumbled and Tessa turned away. "Okay kids. We are going to the next town over and we won't be back until tomorrow. Neither will Rosy so you will have to figure out how to get your own food while we are gone." Balto told Twilight and Tessa. Jenna nodded and nuzzled her kids. "We promise we will be back so try not to get in too much trouble." Jenna licked Twilight and Tessa then she and Balto walked out the door and hopped into the car beside Rosy.

When Twilight and Tessa were sure they were gone, Twilight told Tessa, "I want to get this figured out. I don't want to fight with you Tessa. I mean, Dash is just a guy. There are plenty other dogs in the sea." Twilight searched Tessa's eyes. Tessa finally said, "I don't care. I want to get it sorted out aswell but I want Dash too. So we will have to fight for him." Twilight knew that this response couldn't be good. She knew this because when Tessa said this, Twilight's fur bristled. 

Twilight wanted to get it sorted out but if Tessa said that they would have to fight over Dash, so be it. Twilight was willing to do so. Even if it ment hurting her sister.
