Dark Solar  

                          "Aroooooooo" The group of five howled. "Come on kids it's getting late" Nisho said to them. "Aww dad! It just got dark" Elo said. "That's why you're coming in, now stop howling and get in the cave." Nisho said in a friendly voice. After all their mom , Anish,  had died so their had to be someone kind in the house. So the kids left the howling rock to go home.

"Hiff, why do you think your dad wants us not to howl?" asked Keeth. "I don't know. Maybe he thinks we're getting too wolfish!" barked Keeth. Then they both laughed.

Siber was coming around the corner when she saw them laughing, she knew that sometimes that meant trouble! "Stop it you too!" snapped Siber "That's all you do! Just yell, make fun of everyone and fight! Stop laughing at people!" "What right does she have tellin' us what to do?!" Hiff barked.  "And she's being way too NAGGY!" Keeth murmured to Hiff.

"I heard that! I'm telling dad!" yipped Siber.

 "You're totally right Keeth. She IS way too naggy!" Solar said.  "AAGH!" Hiff and Keeth said in unision. 'Guess they didn't know I was coming' thought Solar running up the hill.

          The next day the kids went outside in the snow, the sky was very dark. But Elo just stayed in bed. He was sick. But, with what?

Solar trotted out into Nome or the big city as the pups call it. She saw Baltos boat and went to say "hi" to her hero. But when she got too the boat a crazy ball of feathers jumped at her!

"Hey get off me Boris! That tickles!" Solar yelled. "Oh I am sorry it is just those bears were chasing me!" Boris said franticly.

Then in the distance they heard "Uncle BORIS!" and they knew exactly who it was. "OH NO! Not now, not when Balto's not here, NOT NOW!" Boris yelled.

"Wait, Balto's not here?" she asked a little annoyed.

Then she walked up and down Baltos boat and smelled..... NOTHING! Suddenly she caught the faintest smell of blood. Then another smell flew up her nostrils. It was Balto!

          She ran as fast as she could too the smell. It became stronger as she came nearer.

Until she saw Balto lying on the ground, with... 'Was it really? No it can't be' thoght Solar as she squated downwind and got closer. She sniffed again and it was! It was Steele! "That mangy sled dog! He's killing Balto!" muttered Solar. "I'll teach HIM a lesson he'll never forget!

 When I'm through with him I'll.. I'll" Solar tried to think of something to do with him but couldn't. As she edged closer she could hear what Steele was saying. "I'll teach you too mess with me! HALF-BLOOD!". "Do your worst! You un-worthy pig!" Balto spat at him. Solar was watching the two rage on.

 When suddenly Steele jumped on Balto's left side and knocked him un-consious!

Steele laughed like a maniac and was about 'finish him off' when Jenna flies out no where and smacks Steele right on the muzzle! Now Steele was the one un-consious. Jenna ran over then said "BALTO! Balto, what happened?! Are you hurt? Balto, ANSWER ME!".

"I'm fine Jenna just fine. But I would be better if you got off me." he said coughing roughly. Jenna got up and lifted Balto to his feet.

              After Solar left for her cave, it had  started to snow. Then hail, then it was a complete blizzard. Solar was watching all this from her cave.

 Hiff, that strange husky, went to his human, Carol Smits' house.

For once every thing was silent, peaceful almost.

Right up until Siber started yelling at Keeth for taking a bone. All Solar, and everyone else in the cave, heard was "KEETH! Give it BACK!! I'm gonna' tell dad!". "Go ahead! I don't care, I'll just bury it before you find it!" Keeth yelled whipping past Solar and Siber.

Siber was going to run after him when she stopped, turned and looked at Solar. "Can you chase him for me, Solar?" Siber asked in a sincere voice "please?".

                 Solar took off running after Keeth. She could see him. He was laying down and the smell of blood and perspireration filled her nose. She could tell that there had been a fight. With a wolf and..... a bear!

 Solar hurried over to Keeth and tried to help him up. But he wouldn't move. He wasn't breathing and Solar knew he was... dead. Then suddenly Keeth took in a deep breath and started up, almost like a car.

 He stood imedealty and stared around in a daze. "Where am I?" He asked. Solar took in a gasp of joy and amazement. "KEETH! You're alive!" Solar yelled jumping up and down.

"So, does that mean I was dead? Because it feels like I got hit in the head by a boat!" He said as he rubbed a bump on his fore-head "C'mon lets go home."

"Nope! Not until you return the bone to it's rightful owner!" Solar barked. "Alright fine." Keeth said digging up the bone.

                        It started snowing even worse. "How are we gonna' get home in this Solar?! It's like a blizzard out here!" Keeth said carrying the bone.

"I can see the cave! We're almost there!" Solar said trudging through the snow.

 Solar howled loudly and got no reply. She howled louder this time and got a reply. It said "Hold on I'm coming!". Soon they saw a gray/brown dog come up. 'Balto! We must be at Balto's boat! So I guess it wasn't our cave.' Solar thought feeling stupid.

"What's a dog doing out in a blizzard!?" yelled Keeth angrily. "What are two wolf pups doing so close to a town like this?" Balto asked a little annoyed with Keeth who started growling.

 "Hey I know you! You're that famous sled dog, uh... I think your name's Balto, right?" Keeth asked him with a little grin. "Yeah, and I'm pretty sure you two are Nisho's kids. Right? Well since I know you are, come on inside." he said leading them to his boat.

              Solar sat under Balto's blanket playing with his little red chew toy. Balto was on deck howling to Nisho and waiting for an answer, but got no reply from his friend. He slowly walked inside to find Keeth sleeping in a box, but couldn't find Solar any-where. He was about to call out her name when he stopped at the sight of something under his blanket.

 He lifted it up to find a small little pink thing licking his nose. "HEY! Cut that out!" Balto laughed as the little creature that licked him came out. "You know you shouldn't do that, right? Other wise... well you'll see." Balto said with a grin. "What, WHAT?!" Solar yipped impationtly.

Balto turned her over and poked his paw on her belly and started tickling her. "HA,HA! Hey stop that tickles! C'mon, please stop?" asked Solar laughing. "Okay, excuse me but....uh... could you scoot over a bit?" Balto asked shivering a little now. "It is ecsqeeze me! Not ecsuse me, and yes I can. On one condition!" Solar said with her little pinky in the air. "Oh yeah? Well what's that?" Balto chuckled.

"You pinky-promise me you will not squeesh me!" Solar said covering her face with the blanket and pretending to a vampire-wolf. "Alright, and uh...could you leave some room for me?" Balto said shivering again "Cause' um, yeah, it's kinda cold out here!"

 The next day was worse than before, the bright snow flew from above and the dark sky blocked out most of the light. Which was prabably a good thing, because if the light hit this it would be like sitting on the sun. Only cold. "Balto? Where's my daddy?" Solar asked curling up with the baby blanket "A-and where did I g-get this-s?"

"That's mine. It's the only thing have to remember of my....my mother. Aniu, or the white wolf. She's as beautiful as the snow, and her voice sounds like crystals if they could sing." Balto said sadly.

"I wish I knew her better. I wish I knew who my brothers and sisters were, I just wish I knew." Balto said almost crying. "You know your dad sort of looks like her, do you want too know why?" he asked Solar. "Yes, I think I do." She said with excitement in her voice. 

"Well... It's high-time you know some-thing kid!" Balto said. That sentence made Solar walk to Balto with a spring in her step, and twinkle in her eye.

Just then they heard a gun shot! Keeth almost flew out of the box when Balto knocked it over running past it too see what was happening.

  Siber was running and sccreaming down the hill. Hiff was carrying Elo on his back, and right on Siber's tail!

   When they got too Balto's boat he could see who it was through the snow. "Oh no!" Balto muttered. "What?! What happ-" was all Solar got out before she saw them "Oh no!"

        Siber and Hiff were in Balto's boat huddling around Elo too keep him warm. "Oh great, five wolves are know crowding my house! Not to mention they're still pups!" Balto grumbled as Solar and Keeth fought. But not in a harmful way, a playful way.

 "So, Siber. What happened back there? You know, the gunshot." Balto asked with disgust on the last word.

Siber started whimpering then said "They killed DAD! Know we're orphans!" "WHAT!?!" Solar screamed standing with her tail bushed up, and her fur standing on ends. Solar jumped out of the boat and ran out on the tundra.

      Solar was screaming her ears off, as she ran through the forest. Suddenly she tripped on a large lump in the snow. She landed right in front of a cave.

  When she stood up a warm blow of wind met her face. She looked to see dust and snow scramble away and a white wolf appear. "Hello, Solar." it said. She just gawked at it's beauty. Almost as white as snow, no. It was like the snow came alive and was now talking to her.

  Solar rubbed her eyes to see if it really was the white wolf that Balto was talking about, his mother. "I thought you only came for Balto and his family." Solar said. The white just gave a short laugh, howled  and blew away in the wind.

     Solar slowly walked in the cave. It was very dark, so Solars eyes shone like two small gems. Suddenly she heard singing, and the cave cieling started to glow. Then the walls did so too.

Balto sat on his boat deck, thinking of what to do. "Balto." Siber said sitting next to him. "Yeah." he said not taking his eyes off the snow. "Why don't you come inside? It's really cold out here!" siber yelled over the sound of the snow. "No. I have to go find her! You stay here and watch over them!" Balto said motoning her to look at her brothers and Hiff.

"So, does that mean I'm in charge?" Siber asked happily. "Yes. Tell the others to stay here!" Balto said running off.

    Solar walked closer to the end of the cave, the singing grew louder and the light brighter. Solar finally said "Who's there?!" "Muru, I'm Muru." the creature said. "Where are you?" Solar demanded.

 The creature jumped around  rock so fast, it was a blur. It finally landed in front of her. "What are you?" she asked it. "I'm a mouse. I was named after my father, who was also named Muru. But I'd rather be called, Ru." He said.

"Why do you have an orb?" Solar asked. "For good luck, I think it has powers. I expect a dog to not know what powers. So I will tell you." Ru said.

"I'm NOT a dog! But will you tell me what powers any way?" Solar asked a little kinder than before.

 "Of course! But It gives everyone some thing different. I know this because only two people used it. One was the white wolf, the other I do not know. But he was forcing me to let him use it." Ru said appolageticly.

    Balto was running through the forest following a weak scent through the cold snow. Suddenly he lost track. "Aaagh! I lost it!" Balto howled. He got an answer for his mournful howl. "Follow your heart, son." It said. Balto swirled around to see dust and snow float away. He said "I will... mother." A grin split his face.

 Balto started running, not caring about the snow surrounding him, to find the scent. He had found it! Soon he was on the trail again.

 Solar stood up on her two hind feet and placed her front paws on the large rock the orb was sitting on.

She placed one big paw on the light green orb. It started glowing and she immedeatly put the other paw on it. The orb shifted into a different color.

   A dark, dark, deep purple. It blasted out with a bright flash of colors. Solar backed up. Suddenly her back felt heavy. She looked over her shoulder to see... Wings! Two big beautiful blue wings!

Balto saw a cave. He sniffed the air, it smelled like... one more sniff... Solar! Balto ran in the cave to find a huge adult wolf with ice blue wings staring at him! It suddenly ran out of the cave and flew away. Balto stared at her, with gleaming eyes. 'It's so... Beautiful.' Balto thought as the wolf flew into the snowy sky!

     Solar was flying! "I can't believe this! I'm flying!" Solar howled into the clouds. Solar noticed she was getting smaller, to her normal puppy size, so she landed on the tundra and turned back into a wolf pup.

Balto saw a small wolf in the snow. It was Solar! 'So that wolf in the cave wasn't Solar! Good!' Balto thought 'That would be weird!'

Solar saw Balto and yelled "HELP!"

    Balto brought her back to the boat and said "I found her! Hey! I found her! Siber? Siber where are you?!" Bato yelled. Then a strng smell of blood came from inside. "NOOOOOO!" Solar screamed digging her nails tight in Baltos back.

  Solar howled hard as she nudged each and everyone of them. Then suddenly She saw Hiff breathing. "HIFF! Speak to me!" Solar yelled. Hiff just mumbled "Hunters, they shot us thinking I was a wolf. They are wolves, I know but he shot me to." Then he just fainted.

  Balto ran to see if they were all still alive. They were. "Thank god!" Balto shouted.

   Soon Jenna went to see Balto. But he was carrying the pups to town. Solar fell in a hole and Balto didn't notice.

 So to get out Solar had to use her powers. Then out she flew! Balto saw her flying and yelled for assistance. She flew down to him and Jenna who were carrying the pups. Solar knew she had to act different to keep her secret a secret.

"What is your name, young wolf." Balto asked.

She had to think of something quick. "Dark. Dark Solar. Did you not call for help?" she asked un-knowing of how much her diologue changed.

"Yes, we need to get to town." Balto said "Will you please carry one of these pups?" Balto asked. Solar picked up Hiff and Elo, the heaviest.

They could see the town now. "I have to go. Just howl if you need me." She said then ran off. Balto respected her shyness. It's not everyday you get to see a flying, dark purple wolf. "Thankyou." Balto murmered.

"What  was that!?" Jenna said. "Beautiful." Balto said. Then Jenna slapped him on his shoulder. "OW! What was-" Balto started before Jenna gave him that Don't-you-say-it look.

"C'mon let's go to town already!" Solar yipped behind Balto Which made him and Jenna jump. Solar gave a big cheesy smile to them.
