Part 5: End of the Beginning

Cyber stood with Balto, looking out at the morning sun. "So." he said turning to Balto, "How'd it go last night?" he asked almost sure of the answer.

"It was......nice." Balto said still looking at the sun. Cybers' ears fell back in disappointment.

"Just nice?" asked Cyber with a sharp tone. Balto looked back at him with a smile.

"Yep, just nice!" he laughed, walking over to the bow of the boat, "So, ya want breakfast?" He looked again to Cyber.

"No. I already caught some, I did it last night." he layed back with a sigh of releif, "While you and Jenna had a "nice" little time together." they both laughed and smiled. "Anything you wanna do today in particular?" Cyber asked tilting his head in question.

"Nah." Balto said smirking, "Let's just hang out tod....." he was cut off by a loud zapping sound, it seemed to be getting louder each second. "Cyber? Cyber what is that?!"

Cyber shook his head and looked at Balto raising an eyebrow. "Why in the world would you ask me?" Just then, two blue streaks peirced the sky in a brilliant roar of beauty and screeching. Cyber and Balto held their ears as they watched the streaks disappear over the hills.

"What in the hell?" Cyber asked as he turned to Balto. "I'm gonna go ahead and investigate this. You stay here 'kay?" Balto nodded, Cyber back, then he ran off towards the mountains.

The voice came back as he was running. "Help me! Cyber, I love you..." Then he shook his head and kept running, this time picking up the pace as he consentrated on his objective.

He ran up along the mountain road and realized that it would be hours before he reached the top, so in reluctancy, he became a White Wolf again, not only for speed, but incase he was encountered by a great threat.

Up at the mountain top, two wolves came out of  a ball-shaped position. "Finally. Nome." said the black wolf that had a streak of silver in the shape of a lightning bolt on his left and right sides. "You alright Ember?"

Another wolf uncurled and yawned while she stretched,"Hmmm? Oh, yes. Yes, I do suppose so." She was the exact opposite, silver with black streaks. "Honestly, I did think it would be a bit...well, nicer than this, didn't you?"

"It is the 1920's dear, give them some credit won't you?" He said with a chuckle. "I mean, honestly, think, just 82 years from now it'll be our time." He looked toward her, motioning for her to follow him down the trail.

"I guess you're right, besides, we're here to help. He doesn't have many on his side right now, but soon, he'll be the next Hitler!" She laughed, but then looked at the other wolf who had a look of intelligence on his face.

  "Hitler hasn't happened yet deary."

Cyber flew up to the top of the mountain. examining closely the terrain and anything else that may point to what had been the cause of those "comets". "Nothing...nothings here either." Cyber drifted down to the ground, he looked closer and saw the same two blue streaks heading straight for him!

"Looks like one of the residents. Let's pay him a visit, shall we?" Asked Ember. The other wolf nodded back.

Cyber sighed, "Why am I always the one getting attacked by things?" He then dodged Ember and then was hammered into the ground by the other wolf. Deep in a crater, Cyber lost his form and returned to normal, a pool of blood oozing from his mouth as he grabbed his shoulder in pain.

The black wolf stood on top of Cyber, digging his paw into his shoulder, listening to his screams. "Hello, my name is Bolt. Pleased to meet you...I'm sorry, how rude, what is your name?" He asked smirking.

Cybers' eyes flashed a bright yellow for a split-second.

"The strong silent-type I see." said Ember as she approached. "But just a moment ago you were yelling louder than ever, give us your name or else!" She demanded as she growled and sparks flew across the crater, zapping Cyber a bit and making him yelp.

Then, out of no-where, a white flash lit up the sky and Bolt was gone. Ember looked over at the mountain ridge and there he was, pinned against the rock and dirt by Balto. Cyber smiled at Embers expression. "Took ya long enough Wolfie!" he said laughing and coughing up a small amount of blood.

"Ugh." Sighed Bolt. "Ember, looks like I'm gonna be here for a while, here, make sure this gets into the water!" Bolt then threw a vial of orange-red liquid to Ember as she nodded and flew off, smiling.

Then Cyber remembered Anui's words, ...delivering the medicine... then it hit him. "Balto! The vial! Get the.." He rose to his feet and became a White Wolf again. "Go get it! I'll take care of Bolt." He said as he made his way toward them.

Balto looked back, then kneed Bolt in the stomach and flew off after Ember with lightning speed. Bolt coughed as he grabbed his stomach, "That son of a bitch!" he fell to his knees and writhed in pain.

Cyber laughed, "He'd probably take that as a compliment... knowing him, but that's not the point." Cyber said edging closer. "The point is, you came out of no-where and assaulted me, and I don't like that." Now Cyber was getting angry. "I hope you've enjoyed you're stay."

"You don't have the guts." Bolt said laughing, sure of himself. "You couldn't even hurt a fly!" Cyber grinned.

  "How do you know this?"

Cyber approached and knelt down, returning to normal. "I'm sorry. I didn't..." Then Bolt kneed him in the stomach and started walking to the edge of the mountain.

"We're here to destroy you with the vial you moron, and everyone else along with it. As soon as we find Zhock and Median." He smiled and turned around. "I told you you were soft. Nothing more than a pup." He turned around and flew off after Balto and Ember as Cyber lay beside the enormous rock, bleeding profusely.

He lay there, the lights of the day were fading away, and he pleaded, "No, please. Don't leave me here again." But it was no use, Cyber was now in complete darkness, the very thing he feared the most. But there was a shining light in the distance, calling out to him. "Leslie."

Balto sped up enormously, grabbing onto Embers tail and making her yelp. "Give it up girly-girl! I'm way faster than you'll ever be!" Then he thrusted her up into a mountain side, pinning her and accidentally pressing his lips to hers and blushed.

She smiled, then in his distraction, elbowed him down into the ground and sped off. As she flew, Bolt caught up with her and nodded, then they accelerated.

"I love you." she said and kissed his head then smiled. Then the darkness began to fade, and Cyber was bathed in light, and she disappeared. "My sweetheart."

"Leslie." Cyber said with tears dripping down his cheeks. "Leslie. Don't go, please? Stay here with me. Forever." Then his fur rippled and he turned a light gray color. "Don't go!" He said reaching out in the light. Then the darkness swarmed around him, still reaching out, his eyes turned a bright almost flourescent yellow and he turned a pure white, making a small light in the darkness, one little bit of shining hope left.

"No!" he screamed as he dug his claws into his paws, making them bleed as he stood up.

Ember and Bolt streamed across the sky and spotted the lake. "Finally, Bolt take care of this so we can go will you?" said Ember as she tossed the vial to him.

"Right, but remember, we have to find Zhock too." he said as he touched the ground and unplugged the vial, pouring it into the lake. "Ahh, the sweet smell of Dipheria. Isn't it refreshing?"

"Yes. Yes. Now, let's go find Zhock, knowing him, Median can't be that far behind." She sighed and then lifted into the air. "Ya know, Kodi's dad is a pretty good kisser."

Bolt grimaced. "Would you please stop talking about events that haven't even happened yet?! God, sometimes I wonder how we're even related..."

Ember frowned and then sarcastically replied, "We aren't born yet moron!" And yet she couldn't get over how good it was, even if she was joking the first time she said it, he was.

Cyber awoke and was screaming still. "It was hard enough seeing you die...I don't need to be reminded every minute of my miserable life." He stood up and took a deep breath. "What happened with Cynthia was just a mistake...I don't love her, I love Leslie. She's still out there somewhere. I know it. She couldn't have died."

He looked at the blue streaks in the sky headed for the town. "I...I...I can't beat Bolt." Leslies voice came back.

"Yes you can. You can if you do it for me Cyber."

"She's right." Cyber said as he wiped the blood from his lip. "I can!" His voice rang out in the mountains, bringing life to everything.

Balto heard it and looked up. "Right!" Then he howled a loud howl, and Cyber joined him. They were ready to fight.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Who...was that again?" she said to herself as she finally got up on her paws again, still struggling against the pain. Cynthia moved on one paw at a time, slowly inching forward with whinces toward Congos body. "Congo." She whispered. "Congo get up..." She continued as she nuzzled him. "Congo!" She nuzzled him again, but harder, turning the body to reveal his innards which had been torn out. "God...no..."

She stumbled along with tears in her eyes, completely forgetting everything, and made her way into town. "Dead? And I was...almost..." Visions of the attack came to her mind. As she stumbled around a corner and into an alleyway, she realized that she was still bleeding, but she wanted to keep going, even though she knew she wouldn't make it more than a few hours, she desperately wanted to bring her brothers killer to justice.

  -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cyber looked to Balto "I'll take her." then he sped off after Ember. He was growling feircely as he ran, not flew, his fastest along the icy tundra. In a matter of seconds he spotted her and smiled, he saw that she now had the vial in her hand. He jumped up and kicked it out of her hand, then lurched forward to grab it as it flew through the air. Success. He took the vial and ran off to the east, the direction in which Bolt had gone, but paused after about twelve steps. He should burry the vial so no one would be able to find it! And so he did, then dashed towards Bolt.

Balto was going after Ember and had started off almost right after Cyber had, and was just now approaching her. He realized that she didn't have the vial. He didn't care what Cyber had said, he was going to help him with Ember. He remembered that she had the vial last, and with that he smirked, Cyber must have already snatched it from her. Then he remembered Bolt. Now that he knew Cyber needed help with, and sped off in the eastern direction with Cyber unknowingly.

Now Bolt was in his sight, dead on target. "Your dead buddy!" Cyber said as he ran with lightning speed at him, tackling him when he got there. They landed in a patch of sharp ice, but Cyber was aware that this would happen, and thats why he made sure he was ontop of him. As they fell, the death must've been quick, for before they landed, Bolt was dead due to an iccicle through his heart, and Cyber was injured with one in his shoulder. He aughed while lying in a pool of his own blood. "You never should have tangoed with me..." As he said this, he returned to hi normal state and fainted.

Balto was sniffing the air whilst running in the direction of Bolt, whn he smelled something else, an evil presence. He looked around the barren land. A blizzard was comming, he hoped Cyber was alright, but in some sense h couldn't help think that he was alright, seeing as he was Cyber and all. He looked dea ahead and aw a bleak outline, a wolf perhaps? He squinted hard and came to see that it was Steele. "No, not here, not now.I've got no choice I guess..."  He took a fightng stance and growled, Steele was comming for him. But why was he out here, oh, thats right, he wasn't really him. It was Zhock, as far as he knew.

He closed his eyes and inhaled deeply, then thrust forward getting at least a look at Zhock before he attacked, just to make sure he was Zhock and not Steele. But it was Steele, not Zhock at all, so he stopped just ahead of him and looked forward. "What brings you out here?" He turned to look back at Steele, but he was gone, then he felt an immense amount of pressure on his back and gasped. Steele was on his back and now biting into his shoulder. "Gah." He let out as he flung Steele over his shoulder and into the snow. "What do you think your doing?!" He yelled. Steele rose up and weakly stood up.

"To rid the world of scum like you Halfbreed." He put one paw in front of the other and walked toward him, slowly as his eyes changed from sky blue, to crimson red.

Under his breath he muttered the words "Dammit Steele..." and growled lowly.
