The Children of the Moon
By Aljan (Sam) Copyright 2006-Forever
When darkness falls upon the forest
When the moon shines its light upon the earth
Only then do the children of the moon come out to play
Sleek and gray they are
Muscles pulsing beneath their fur
Teeth white as snow and sharp as diamonds
Their song rings throughout the night
Awakening their greatest enemy and fear
Who can kill them from afar on land and in air
The sound of Man reaches the children of the moon
With haste, they flee, but death has already begun to rain from above
One by one, wolves fall wounded or killed on the spot
The same air that once held song is now filled snarls and growls
The wounded fight their pain to flee with their kin
However, their fate had been sealed by the first wound
The blood of the innocent children of the moon stain the ground
Never again will the slain dance and sing again
The moon and stars watch the slaughter with grave and mourning light
News stars will be among them this night…
Many more are soon to join…
