Change part 3
Balto woke up early one morning. He had to practice for his big race the following week. He then made his way down to applegate sled track to practice since he was deturmined not to lose the race since he always wanted to compete in it even when he was just a pup. It was 5am but Balto wanted to get there before everyone else so that he got the best practicing grounds but some one had already beat him there.
When he got there he could make out the slim figure of a small female husky so he walked over to her. When he aprouched he saw her face and then he could see how truly beautiful she was. She was a grey husky with a white under belly and she looked stunning! His gaze fell on her but then he spoke up.
"Hi I've never seen you around here whats your name.'' He asked. " Tisha and you must be Balto I watch you in every race but I'm normly at the back of the gigantic crowds that come to watch you since I'm never first here but at least I am today. And incase you haven't realized already I'm a big fan of yours also by the way.'' She said with a slight giggle. But just then Balto forgot all about the race and practicing for it. '' Nice to meet you Tisha err do you want to get a bowl of water with me?'' he asked. '' I'd love to Balto.'' she replied now beeming with glee. And so they walked off together.
They then soon became inseperable and then at the end of the week they became mates. Balto and Tisha were just sitting in the boiler room that night 3 days before the big race. Tisha was asleep but Balto was not he just lay there thinking of how lucky he was.
But he couldn't get Jenna out of his head. And then it hit him he was still in love with Jenna! A few minuites later after Balto he realized he had a desision to make since if he still loved Jenna it wouldn't be right to stay Tishas mate but He does love Tisha very much and could picture a future with her. Balto couldn't make his mind up it was like torture but at Rosies house however it was far from torture.
Jenna had just given birth to three beautiful pups. 2 of them were girls and the other was a gorgeos boy. Steele sadly missed the birth of the eldest pups the two girls ( The first pups to be born.) But got there quick enough to watch his mate give birth to his son.
The first born girl was a little red husky named Josie who took after her father since she had dazzling blue eyes, his large and steardy paws but most of all when she got older her parents found out that she also dispised wolf dogs.
The second eldest, another girl was a beautiful husky and looked just like Jenna but as a puppy. And she had her fathers lovely sleek black and white coat but had her mothers hazel nut eyes so Jenna and Steele called her Hazel also named after Steeles cousin who he adores also.
The youngest was a boy named Lightning since a famouse sled dog named thunder was one of the fastest sled dogs ever in the history of the world so they called the pup Lightning since Thunder always comes after Lightning. But the pup also suited that name becuase when he wanted to he could really pick up some speed. And he wanted to become a sled dog also and maybye even one day wear the golden collor around his neck just like his dad once did. Lightning was a black husky. And he was completely black all over including his entire face and muzzle. But he did have his mothers beautiful tail and her deturmination. And he also had his fathers sky blue eyes.
After the birth that night whilst the pups were sleeping with Jenna in her basket by her side Steele and Jenna just were talking and nuzzling then Steele took a place besides her lay down and fell asleep. Jenna how ever could not sleep since she was pondering of how hard it must of been for Balto. But Meanwhile during when Jenna was in labour Balto had come to a decision to break up with Tisha the next morning he would tell her.
The next day came and went by quickly and Balto and Tisha broke up and Steele and Jenna were just watching their 3 pups happily. Steele was even more happy than Jenna though since he had finaly every thing he could desire a beautiful mate that he had been cooing for, for over 2 years also he had some beautiful pedagree pups and he was also taking part in the big race as a weel dog that was only 2 days away and he thought that this must be the chance to become a lead dog once more and get his glory and respect back. But He also did not know of who his team was since no one had told him but he didn't mind since from now on he swore to just enjoy the here and the now and for him the here and the now was just perfect.
The next day went by like a flash and before any one knew it it was the day of the big race. The race was a 2 day race and they could only stop once to set up camp and go to sleep. It started at 7am and ended when the first sled team crosses the finishing line which was estimated to take around 2 days if you followed the correct route.
Balto and Steele both left at the excact same time at 6:45 leaving them both 15 minuites to get to the track which was around enough time. Balto got there first and was harnessed up at the front just like usual and then he looked around to see who his team was.
It was Star, Kaltag, Niki and 3 other Huskys but one weel dog was missing. Then Balto looked up to see Steele casualy walking over to them. Balto gave a low snarl and Steele hearing this also did the same and when Balto heard that he gave a louder growl. Baltos musher could hear this so he scolded Balto and Steele was just smirking. The musher the went over, kelt down and picked up Steeles harnessready to help the husky get into it.
Then Balto noticed Jenna in the crowds. ''Go Steele, come on, do your best.'' She was screaming. Steele was smiling at her since not only did it feel nice to feel apreaciated but it was also hurting The half breed Balto and it was destracting Balto but Steele did not know that.
Then a few seconds later the trigger of the pistol was pulled and the dogs shot of nearly as fast as the bullet and Baltos team were in the lead. But Balto was distracted so much that he began to keep triping over leaving the team in last place but after his 4th trip Baltos musher had had enough so he quickly got off of his sled and swaped Balto and Steele so that Steele was in lead and Balto was at the back taking his place as a weel dog since his musher could not afford to lose the race and Steele was the only other dog with the experiance of being a lead dog.
Steele was incredibly happy when this happened he had know the chance to prove himslelf and he was not going to mess it up. And he didn't Steele got them back to first place and got them over half way before night fell and that was exreemly unexpected. They then set up camp but because their musher was so impressed with Steele, Steele got to sleep in the mushers room unlike the other dogs who had to sleep outside still harnessed to the sled ( which had waights in it) so that they couldn't run off.
In the mornig they resuemed to the race and Steele got them back ages before the others came. The musher was so impessed with Steeles performence he made him lead dog for the time being and Balto now had a new carear as a weel dog. Balto was so upset when he heard the news he went straight back to his old shipwrecked boat, sobbing, and missing the award seramony.
In the seramony Steele was awarded the golden collor that Balto had slipped of his brushy neck just before he ran off. Laterin the mid morning after he had been praised Steele returned home to his mate and pups. When Jenna heard the news she was delighted for Steele but she felt sorry for Balto but couldn't do anything about it so she just prayed That Balto would be able to cope.
