Part 7

Cailean looked at Ahura in obvious doubt and sighed, tired of someone else knowing herself more then she did. Then again, she wouldn’t of wanted anyone else.

“ You are a human” the werewolf said trying to search for the right words.

“ You just have the ability to be a…wolf”

“ How am I to do that?” she asked quizzically.

“ Be the wolf” he replied flatly and began again.

“ Feel the earth beneath your paws, the wind gently brushing your fur” She closed her eyes and waited. Nothing. Then she wondered if he was doing this for pure amusement and stared at him hard. No expression showed on his face, far from any humor. She closed them once again.

“ Concentrate, breath the life of a wolf” he coaxed.

She did and the tall pines that surrounded them suddenly smelt a little stronger. Had more meaning. She opened one eye then the other. The ground was three feet below her and she screamed but it came out as a yelp. She looked up at the werewolf with amber eyes and noticed he was seemingly large. No wonder the pack had submitted. The height of him was magnificent and she tried to speak but her words came out in yips and growls. Ahura simply raised a brow. Now amusement showed clearly on his face. She thought. How to communicate?

“ Like this” she looked up in astonishment at him.

“What?” she gasped, still staring at him.

“Like this” he repeated, yet his mouth barely flinched. She grinned with pleasure.

“Through Mind reading” he nodded. Suddenly the pack of males loped down a large hill straight towards her. She lowered herself to the ground not knowing how to react to the small stampede that was nearly on her.

“No, do not submit to them” Ahura voice rumbled.

“ What else do you want me to do? “One against 7” she yelled and her mind voice shook.

“How do you think Alphas do it?” he replied. Cailean let out a deep sigh as the pack circled her, looking her over.

“Stand straight, head and tail high” he ordered. She obeyed and saw an immediate change in the packs behavior. Now they lowered their own bodies to the ground and whined, licking her muzzle. She looked up at him

“Do they--

“Don’t ever show your throat Cailean!” his voice rumbled and seemed to shake the pines. She cringed and saw the pack did the same. He saw fear in her and his eyes softened.

“ They are friends, but you are a new wolf to them, never show your most vulnerable area” he voice was calm but firm. It almost surprised her. The strength, power and confidence it held made her smile. Then again, he had been a King.

“Congratulations Cailean, you have discovered your power.”
