Part two

Cailean stared wide-eyed at the Werewolf and admired his movement and his very sword that hung at his side. He walked to her with a confidence she couldn’t describe and towered over her. The Werewolf took a deep breath as if beginning to speak and he searched her face for an introduction.

“Ahura” he said in a deep but gentle voice.

“I am Ahura” grinning slightly and waiting.

“Cailean” she said, cringing at the weakness of her name and the strength of his.

He seemed to have relaxed after the short meeting. Turning slowly, he began to walk as she followed closely behind.

“I’ve been waiting for you” he began. “I even called for you many nights” he stopped suddenly and gazed into her eyes. She gazed back into his and noticed there was something he hid. Cailean’s secret came out again but she let it search his mind. He had suffered a dark past that his own strength and spirit could bare. His strength had returned but he had a different outlook on the world. Only it’s hard, coldness settled in his mind.

“Why didn’t you come?” he asked gently. She thought for just a moment.

“I didn’t know it was for me” disappointed at herself.

“ah, but you did” she stared at him with wonder and puzzlement and he only exchanged it with a chuckle.

“What? You thought you were the only one with a power you can’t describe?” she gasped.

“Except, I understand mine” He turned and began walking once more, leaving Cailean there to think over her own stupidity. She finally lunged forward and followed him, she found it keeping up with him a challenge but she didn’t let herself lag behind. Silence was between them and many times she had seen Ahura begin to open his mouth as if to speak but he’d close it and quicken his pace.

“Where are we going?” she asked finally. Her voice seemed to startle him and he stopped and turned slowly on his heel to meet her eyes. Cailean suddenly realized every time he spoke to her, he always met hers. She smiled and for the first time he smiled back but it faded quickly.

“Bathazar” he said shortly.

They walked another mile or so with Bathazar pounding on her head with questions. The snow began to fall harder and she put on her hood, casting a shadow on her face, where she felt most comfortable. Ahura turned and gazed at her, seemingly pleased by her new look. He sat at the base of a tree and motioned for her to sit.

“Why me?” she started.

“Why did you pick me?” she gave him a gaze that forced him to answer. He looked at the snow, searching for the right words.

“You are not one of them” he began. “You are not human” when he saw her looking at him questioningly, he tried backing up his answer

“You’re like I was before” He shook his head

“Nevermind that but, you just don’t belong with them” Cailean thought for a moment and suddenly felt a deafening blast, Ahura fell over holding his chest and then their was only blackness.
