A female wolf/dog gazed proudly at her five newborn pups. Suddenly a red husky walked down the alley the female and the pups were in. "Hi starlight." Said the husky. "Oh hi max," said Starlight "hows my mate?" Max smiled and said "Great, um starlight...I`m going on a trip tomorrow..You know, its hard being the lead dog...Listen I wont be in nome for a several weeks." Starlight looked a little disappointed "When are you leaving?" Max sighed and said "Tomorrow...I`m sorry starlight." Starlight gazed into her mates eyes "It`s ok max...You`re just doing your job." Max looked down at the five pups, four were grey like Starlight and one was red like max. "What should we call them starlight?" Starlight took a moment to think. "We shall name the girls first," there were two girls and three boys. "Dawn, Kayla and....I cant think of any, how `bout you Max?" Max thought for a moment. "How about luna?" Starlight smiled and said "Thats perfect Max," she nuzzled her mate and said, " Let`s name the boys now." Max looked at the red one who was chewing on the blanket in the alley. "Fluke, Collin and...And...Aww I got nothin`....I don`t know what to call the red one." Max replied with a grin "How about...Blaze?" "Sure Max." Replied Starlight. Starlight watched Blaze roll around on the blanket. Just then, Max`s owner, sam called to him "Here boy! come here Max!" Max licked his mate and ran to sam. "Good boy, Max."

Chapter 2: Steeles return

Blaze grew up quick, he met a pup named Rachel and a pup named Copper. They became friends and played together everyday from sunrise till sunset. Max and his team had left fifteen weeks ago...But had never returned. Word spread that the team and the musher had died. That night Starlight cried herself to sleep. The next morning blaze was woken by talking in the next alley, he padded silently over. He remembered his mothers storys, the two dogs he saw there looked like balto and steele. " Well if it isnt Balto." Balto snarled " Steele..What do you want?" "REVENGE!!" With that Steele lunged at Balto and bit into his shoulder, Balto howled with pain, Steele then scratched Balto up baddly then kicked him into a brick wall. Blaze couldn`t stand it anymore and jumped on Steele and bit into his neck. Steele howled with pain and started trying to get to Blaze, but he couldn`t reach. Blaze bit harder and Steele found it difficult to breathe, blood poured from steeles neck. Finally Steele fell to the ground dead, unfortunatly he knocked over a pile of crates when he collapsed, and they all fell on Blaze. Balto pushed the crates away and grabbed Blaze, Blaze didn`t open his eyes, " Oh no, cmon kid wake up!" Blaze didn`t get up. Balto ran to the vets and took Blaze inside, the vet called Rosy in, Rosy was in an office next to the vets, she ran in and asked Balto what happened, Balto told her the whole story and Rosy was quite amazed. At that moment the vet came in "The pup will be ok but must stay over night, um Rosy do you know if this pup has an owner?" "No sir." Replied Rosy.

Chapter 3: Adoption Day

The next day Blaze was released. He ran to his mothers alley, she was furious "Where the heck were you Blaze!?" she shouted. "Umm...I uh was with my friends and we got a little lost so we had to stay in an empty crate all night, then uh we found our way back." Blaze hoped she would buy it, and she did, Blaze thanked the lord that there was no punishment but he got a lecture instead. The next day was adoption day, Starlight put her pups into a cardboard box and dragged the box to the sidewalk where kids and there parents came to see the pups. Collin, Fluke,Dawn,Kaila and Luna all found homes, but poor Blaze didn`t get adopted. The next day Rosy happened to walk by the box " hey you`re that pup who saved Balto...I`ll take you in for a little while...But I cant keep you forever." Rosy took Blaze to her house and her parents allowed her to keep Blaze until he found another owner. Blaze went to play with Rachel and Copper, they played in the woods, Blaze stopped and rested for a bit while Copper and Rachel romped and played Adventurers. Blaze smelled something, just then a bear charged at Copper and Rachel, Blaze stood there...Too terrified to move, the bear chased Rachel and Copper around the place, Copper moved out the way but the bear continued to chase Rachel. Rachel ran for her life she was so scared, finally the bear had her cornered, Rachel stood there shivering Blaze suddenly got a burst of courage. He ran at the bear and blinded it by biting into its eyes, he teared a ear off the bear and tore a chunk out of the bears neck, Blaze then kicked the bear in the nose. This angered the bear and it swiped its paw, although it couldn`t see...It could smell. The bears paw missed Blaze by an inch, Blaze dodged the bears attacks, but Blaze soon got tired, the bears paw whacked him in the chest and Blaze hit a tree. Blaze lay there, he was winded, the bear sniffed him out and charged at Blaze. Blaze jumped out of the way, he got his breath back, the bear hit the tree, it rubbed its nose and wandered around trying to find a way to escape. It had had enough of this prey, it was too hard to catch, the bear wandered closer and closer to the cliff, Blaze saw his oppertunity to beat the bear and ramed into it, sending it tumbling to its doom. Blaze walked over to a very frightened Rachel "Rach...Are you ok?" Rachel looked at Blaze and nodded, she finally calmed down and they walked back to Nome. Rachel and Copper spread the news of the bear attack and how Blaze had saved them. Blaze soon became the talk of the town, one of the dogs told Rosy and she spread then news to the people of Nome. Soon everyone knew about the bear attack and Blaze became ''Blaze The Wonder Pup"  Blaze couldn`t even walk ten steps down the street without being petted on the head people would say "Good dog Blaze" or "You`re a hero just like Balto, you might have a bright future lil guy" Soon the whole thing dropped and life was back to normal. Or was it? little did Blaze know that his life would change forever.
