Chapter 1: The Race

Blaze waited eagerly at the starting line, he saw the other dogs competing to be on the team: Kodi,Kirby,Ralph,Fluke,Tim,Pete,Teal, and his best friend Copper. Blaze figited around impatiently, his tail was wagging so much with every wag he hit Ralph in the face. "Hey kid settle down, save it for the race." said Ralph. Blaze reluctantly sat down and waited, in the crowd was his best friend Rachel, he secretly loved Rachel 'Gosh shes so beautiful, if only I had the guts to tell her' thought Blaze. Suddenly the man shouted "On your marks!" Blaze got prepared. "Get set!" Blaze narrowed his eyes and focused on the track. "Go!!" Blaze was off like a torpedo, he ran as fast as his legs would carry him. He turned corners,dodged obsticals, and avoided slipping on patches of ice. Blaze was ahead of every dog in the race, kodi was coming second. The finish line was in sight, Blaze`s legs grew tired but he battled the pain. He was almost at the finish line when Kodi zoomed straight past him and came in first place, he came in second then Kirby,Ralph,Fluke,Tim,Pete and Copper. Teal came last so she had to be at the back with Copper, Pete with Tim, Fluke with Ralph, Blaze with Kirby and Kodi was the lead dog like always. The next day they got harnessed up to the sled, Blaze said goodbye to his mother, father and Rachel. Before he knew it they were off, they had to deliver four sacks full of mail. Blaze enjoyed running and he chatted to Kirby as he ran "Where are we going to take the mail to?" Asked Blaze. "To Anchorage." Answered Kirby. That night they stopped to sleep, Kodi showed Blaze and Copper how to dig their own dens to sleep in at night, then they ate dried meat for dinner. Blaze was sound asleep inside his den that night, he was dreaming about his puppyhood and Rachel. Just dreaming about her made him smile in his sleep. The next morning they were harnessed up again and they made it to Anchorage by noon.

Chapter 2: Wolf Attack!

Then they were loaded up with more mail and they headed back to nome. They were only half an hour out of anchorage when kodi heard something. It was coming closer and closer then suddenly five black wolves jumped out of the bushes. The team was terrified, so was Blaze. The wolves snarled at the team and slowly moved closer and closer, Kodi bravely lept out of his harness and ran at the wolves, he attacked the biggest one first but then the other four joined in the attack. The wolves stepped backwards as they saw Kodi`s limp body, he was still alive and breathing but was too weak to fight. 'No' Blaze thought, Blaze lept forward and ran at the wolves, the biggest wolf howled and ran at Blaze. The wolf scratched and bit Blaze, Blaze kicked the wolf in the head and bit into its neck. He bit harder and harder until the wolfs body went limp and its breathing stopped. This angered the other four wolves and all four of them lept on Blaze, Blaze managed to slip out and pounce on one of the wolves. The wolf struggled but couldn`t get free of Blaze`s grip, then Blaze bit into the wolfs neck until it lay dead. Now there were only three wolves left, one of them pounced on Blaze, this was what he was waiting for, he quickly stuck his sharpest claw into this wolfs heart. The wolf howled in pain and dropped dead, Blaze leapt at the second last wolf and bit into its neck and killed it. The last wolf leapt at Blaze before you could say "yikes!" and scratched him across the face, leaving four scratches on his cheek. Then the wolf kicked Blaze in the face then tackled him, while Blaze was in mid-air the wolf jumped up and as they landed the wolf pinned Blaze, the wolf scratched Blaze`s chest, leaving four gashes, Blaze yelped in pain. The wolf hit Blaze, sending him tumbling to the edge of the cliff, just as the wolf was about to kick Blaze off the cliff the musher pulled out his gun and shot the wolf, the wolf dropped dead and blood covered the snowy ground. Blaze got up slowly, but once he stood up properly the ground underneath him gave way and he fell. Kodi, the team, and the musher shouted at the same time "Blaze!!" Copper rushed to the edge but all he saw was snow "No." Whispered Copper. A few hours later Blaze regained conciousness and heaved himself out of the snow, he got up and shook the snow off, he looked up...It was a long way to the top. Blaze remembered some lyrics from the song Balto taught him 'Reach for the light, you might touch the sky, stand on a mountain top and see yourself flyin`,reach for the light, to capture a star, come out of the darkness and find out who you are.' Blaze started climbing, he climbed and climbed and climbed. He finally reached the top where the musher and the team hung were hanging their heads in sorrow. They didn`t even notice him, so he lifted up his head and howled, Copper recognised that howl and spun around "Blaze!" he shouted. The team and the musher turned around and saw Blaze, they were all happy Blaze was alive. Blaze had to be the lead dog because Kodi was too weak for he had a broken leg. "Mush!" shouted the musher.

Chapter 3:Nome at last.

The team, with Blaze as the lead dog, they neared Nome in the afternoon. Starlight, Max, Jenna and  Balto were waiting infront of the post office, Rachel however was waiting at the edge of town. Rachel`s tail wagged as she saw the team, and at the front was Blaze, she howled her best howl, and Blaze howled back. He raced into town but didn`t stop at the post office, he stopped at the vets. "Whats going on Blaze?" asked Max. "Kodi`s hurt dad...Nothing too serious just a broken leg and a few bruises." Jenna heard what Blaze said and ran to the sled, Kodi was laying on it. "Hey,mom." He said, Jenna was relieved he wasn`t too injured. "Hey Kodi." Said Balto. Kodi opened his mouth to say something, but at that moment the vet picked up kodi and took him into his office. Starlight looked at Blaze up and down and then realised he had a big gash on his chest. "Blaze you`re hurt!" she said, she nuzzled him motherly "I`m fine mom." but at that moment Blazes vision blurred and he collapsed. An hour later he woke up in a big cage next to kodi, "So, sleeping ugly is finally awake." Teased Kodi. "Aww lay off bone head." Replied Blaze, he realised his chest was stitched and his cuts and bruises had bern treated. Blaze sighed. A few weeks later Kodi and Blaze were released, Blaze walked down the street, he was happy he wasn`t in a cage anymore. Suddenly he bumped into Rachel. "Hey Blaze." Said Rachel, "oh hi Rachel." Said Blaze. "Umm ive got to tell you something..." "What Blaze?" Asked Rachel. "I..I...I love you." "Oh Blaze." She then leaned closer and whispered in his ear "I was waiting for you to say that."
