The grey dog leapt at Aniu jaws gaping and madness in it's eyes. Aniu leapt sideways and and charged at the un-balanced dog but only managed to grab the dogs leg within her jaws. The dog slid from beneath Aniu and jumped onto her back biting her spine. Around her Aniu heard the dogs shouting, "Get 'em Smokey! Rip 'em apart Smokey!" the wolves were silent for they had seen too many of their kind weakened and taken down. Aniu rolled on her back making Smokey lose his grip. Aniu backed up to a wall and stood staring as Smokey shook himself and prepared to attack again.

Smokey and Aniu began walking around each other. Then Smokey lunged at Aniu but as Aniu leapt up to avoid him, Smokey grabbed her foreleg and tore off stripes of fur and flesh from it. Aniu yelped and in reply the men above cheered loudly, glad to finally see some blood spilt. But the wolves remained silent.

The white wolf then felt a hate stronger then ever she had had toward dogs. Aniu turned on the dog, filled with renewed strength and tore apart his ear spurting blood everywhere and getting her leg free. Aniu then threw her weight on the dogs back hoping to damage it's vertebrae but only managing a minor fraction in his upper spine. Smokey snarled and dropped to his side surprising Aniu. The dog then ran rolled onto its' back and kicked Aniu off of him with his hind legs. But Aniu was large even for her kind and wasn't easily lifted off the ground and only shuffled backwards. Smokey then tried to bolt to the other end of the arena but tripped up on his and Aniu's paws leaving the soft flesh of the front of his throat exposed. Aniu bared her fangs then fell upon the dog and ripped savagely at his soft throat, staining her white fur.

Aniu tore at the dog until its' carcass was no more then bloody fur. The white wolf stood there in the arena as the men booed over their lost bets. The dogs however were ushered into silence. But the wolves remained silent, though within themselves they were proud that their kin had won.

It wasn't long before five men and Quincy came down to chain Aniu again. First to enter the arena was Quincy who was grinning as if it were he who had won, "Well done newby, now if you'll just let these gentlemen chain you up again no one will get hurt see?" Aniu let the five gunmen put the muzzle on her again and also clip on a black collar with square studs on it. Then last of all the men connected a long chain to hold onto, on Aniu's new collar. Then they led Aniu back to her cage.

Two weeks later...

Aniu was sore all over. She had not stopped fighting since the night she fought Smokey and was now coming into season. Quincy noticed this first. So did the humans. Quincy was the best dog in the fights and Aniu - even though it had only been two weeks, was second best and so the humans thought they could breed better fighters from the two of them and so that night instead of fighting the men led Aniu to Quincy's room. The men spoilt Quincy because of the money he won them so he had a small room with his food and water at one end of the room and a large dog bed at the other, and in the middle was a door and below that a doggy door which led to a yard. However the doggy door was locked and the men took off Aniu's muzzle, then walked out of the room leaving the wolf and the husky alone. Aniu's lip curled up in a snarl as Quincy approached her.

Fang woke to the horrifying dream of Aniu being slaughtered and lay shaking in the tall grass. It was still dark in the forest beside the ocean and cool. Fang sighed and got up his injuryes would no longer hold him down! For he would begin searching for Aniu now. But I can't save her alone Fang thought to himself I can't fight my way through so many men... Or dogs. And so not knowing yet what to do he padded through the forest searching for an answer. A snarl broke the eerie silence and a cream wolf with a brown underbelly pinned him to the ground, it was then that Fang realised that the wolf was a female and so he restrained himself from attacking the she-wolf. "What's your name and buisness in my territory?" The female had a surprisingly high, sweet and serious voice for one who was so small for indeed she was slightly below average height. Slowly a whole pack emerged from the surrounding trees.

Fang heard a low rumble in the wolfs' chest and he realised he had not answered the female so he replied wearily, "My name is Fang, and i'm only passing through i'm heading near the town of nome." Fang surprised himself on the last statement as he realised that he had been heading toward the dogfights all along without him consiously knowing. "Nome? A dangerouse place for wolves and strays since the dogfights are nearby." The she-wolf then let him up and a pack member said aloud, " Lyall, listen to me we need food lets just eat him anyway he's probably one of Quincys' hench dogs in the fights." Lyall glanced dangerously at the wolf then stared at Fang then said, "Why are you going near Nome?" Fang smiled at the thought that they had already answered their own question, "I'm going to save my mate from the dog fights." An angry muttering ran through the pack and the wolf that had spoken up previously spoke again, "You see he's covering up a that he is a henchman with a sweet little story, i say kill him!" a small group behind the wolf roared their agreement. Fang's eyes narrowed as he realised the danger he was in, he tried to inspect the wolf but he was shadowed by the surrounding trees. Lyall replied in a snarl, "Peace Ramises! His story speaks truth to my ears." Lyall nodded at Fang, "My appologies Fang my brother, now come with us to our den.

Aniu yelped and snarled at the men as they tried to bring Aniu from her cage to take her to Quincy again. The most respected of wolves was now in Smokeys old cage and thrust his nuzzle between the bars snaping at the mens hands. when the wolf had inflicted numerouse wounds with his fangs the men gave up at left Aniu for the time being. Still panting Aniu turned and studied the wolf, he had been in the cage since the first night she was taken to Quincy and had strange markings of dark brown while the rest of his body was light brown. Aniu said to the wolf, "Thank you." The wolf nodded it's head and replied, "Serves Quincy and his owners right." Aniu stared dumbfounded, she hadn't heard any of the wolves talk since she had arrived at the fights the wolf continued, "The names Hachiko, Hachi for short." Aniu swallowed and replied, "Aniu. Aniu is my name." the wolf grinned and thought to himself I know then said, "My name is supposed to mean good fortune but so far I've had none of that."

Later in the night the men came back when Aniu was sleeping and hauled her out by the scruff, then pinned her to the ground and muzzled her. Quincy as usual was waiting and as soon as the men left walked toward her. After the first night with Quincy the men left her muzzle on so Aniu was defencless as Quincy raped her again. The following week Aniu was pregnant. She no longer fought or was sent to Quincy, she just lay in her cage starving with nothing to do but talk to Hachi. Two months later the pups were coming.

Fang spent along time in Lyalls pack trying to earn all the wolves trust to convince them all to help him free Aniu, now a wolf was taking Fang to Lyall. When the wolf left the two of them Lyall said, "I hear you have been trying to convince my pack to go to the dog fights?" When Fang nodded silently she continued, "Yet one must wonder, WHY?" Fang drew himself up to his full height, he was taller then all wolves except for Aniu and bye the mouth of a cave he seemed lager then ever. He replied, "I must save Aniu, but i can not do it alone." Lyall tried in in uncessessful attempt to keep the awe from reaching her eyes, for one so young he had found his soul mate and was going to challenge some of the biggest criminals in the human world to save her.Lyall had to choose wheather to help this wolf or ignore his plea for help. As she drew breath to state her decision Fangs' heart became hopefull.

Anius' tears stained her cheeks with uneven swiviling lines as the ex-vet announced her pregnancy. I am pregnant but not to Fang she thought to herself sorrowfully. In Anius' mind falling pregnant to a protected rapist was just as bad as cheating. Aniu did not fight the men as she usualy would when they put her back in the cage. Beside her Hachi stared in sympathy he could tell she was pregnant and he understood the meaning behind the tears over the pregnancy. In three weeks the pups were due.

When Lyall had agreed to help Fang had asked why. Her brother Hachiko was trapped in the fights. But Fang had no time to turn this over in his mind he began practising his fighting skills and in two weeks Fang had become a tall well muscled, strong youthfull fighting master, so now it was time to prepare the pack for the attack. Fang called the pack to council, "Brothers and Sisters," he began for now he was a member of the pack,"In the next week we will begin to plan our attack-" Fang was cut off by the beta named Ramises, the wolf that originally wanted to kill Fang interupted, "Why plan the attack? our natural instincs will help us more then a complex set of words." a murmer of agreement ran through the assembled pack. Fang sighed and said, "Im not even going to attempt to argue because i know i will not win. But we will hold off the attack for another week, however in that time we will train more and more instead of planning." he aimed the last couple of words at Ramises. "Im coming Aniu." Fang said to himself looking up at the night sky.

Aniu yelped in her labour. The men had taken her to a larger cage that was cut off from anyother dogs so Hachi, who had become  her closest friend aside from Fang could not comfort Aniu in her pain. Quincys' owner came in to see if any pups were born yet. He did not help Aniu however. No one did, no vets, no me and no dogs. It was just Aniu screaming in pain all alone.

Afew hours later all the pups were born, in all there were six. Two girls and four boys but all except one looked like Quincy. The odd one looked like an ordinary grey wolf but with Quincys' eyes. When all the men and Quincy left her alone with the pups Aniu killed them by taking them in her jaws and snapping their backs painlessly. She left the grey one till last unable to kill the wolf-like one as quickly as the others. By the time Aniu thought she could bring herself to kill it she heard a shout from nearby her cage then three men including the fights' owner came in and hoisted Aniu away from the remaining pup. As Aniu was dragged out of the room Aniu passed Quincy, she knew she would never see the pup again so she said to him,"Call him Balto for me." and she was dragged away back to her old cage.

Aniu was beaten for killing the pups and as usual, was not fed. Aniu didnt know if the humans thought they were punishing her further by not feeding her. Again. Later that night Aniu was taken to the fighting areana and her heart dropped as she recgonised the 'dog' in the areana. But it was no dog. It was Hachi. Aniu having to fight Hachi was the worst betrayal aside from- aniu swallowed against the gulit, having pups with another dog.

Hachi couldnt think, he had just finished a tight fight and the adrenlian was still running through his veins, his instincs still sharpened for a fight so when Aniu was thrown into the areana he did not recgonise her or even have the faintest thought that she was a friend. As soon as the men left the areana Hachi lunged at Aniu. Aniu was a good fighter but Hachi was better. Within a few minutes Hachi had his jaws around Anius' neck and was savouring the taste of her blood in his mouth and the cracking of her neck slowly breaking in his jaws, in the dog fights you never gave an opponent a quick painless death, you had to make them suffer for your pain. Soon the other wolf will be dead and i will be sleeping in my cage, Hachiko thought to himself.

Fang paced back and forth beside the stream. He was impatient to get the pack to the fights. But thanks to my 'genious' mind i have to wait another week or so! He thought furiously to himself. Earlier in the day Fang had blurted out to Lyall that many other wolves would have a grudge against the fights for various reasons and would want to fight with them as well. "Your a genious Fang!" she had said with a huge grin. Aniu could be dead within a week, Fang thought. He shook his head as if trying to clear it. Negative thinking wasnt going to help anything, deep down Fang knew that a larger force would help Aniu more then a small squirmish. Fang walked away from the stream and headed back toward the cave that the pack had accepted as their den. He entered the small clearing in front of the cave and found Lyall playing with Ramises pups. In this pack anyone was allowed to mate.  Lyall sat up to watch Fang approach while the rone and grey pups climbed on her back and fell off her head.

"Fang." Lyall greeted in her ever calm voice. She stood up and shook herself, more to get theyapping pups off her then anything else. "What troubles you now?" she sighed. Lyall could clearly see Fangs' patience had worn thin long ago. Fang replied, "I.... Aniu.... Why do we have to wait another whole week! Or two weeks" he added. Lyall sighed, "Fang you know this has to be done. If we want to kill the fighs completely we have to get more then just one pack to fight and so far five packs and some lone wolves have decided to join us so i dont think we will need another whole week." Fang nodded is understanding and walked out of the clearing to hunt a strya moose claf he had smelt earlier, after all he would need to be strong if the packs left to attack on short notice.

Aniu felt her life slipping away from her slowly. From what she could see it appeared she was looking down a long dark tunnel. Then Aniu lost consiousness.

Hachi felt the wolf go limp and, blinded by the fast flowing blood in his veins and thrumming through his head, he thought the wolf was dead so he dropped it to the ground and walked up to the gate so the men could muzzle him. But for some reason the men didn't come to take him to his cage. Angry Hachi barked at the gate, as he was doing this he didn't hear the white one come up behind him. Suddenly Hachiko felt jaws tighten around his neck and he was dragged backwards and he was actualy lifted in the air for two seconds and he felt a shap pain down his spine as he landed awkwardly on his back. Distantly he was aware of warm blood trickling down his neck. Hachi snarled and crouched ready to spring at the wolf.

Aniu growled as Hachiko crouched on the dirty floor. She was confused to the extreme, she and Hachi were best friends now and Aniu had been sure that Hachi would never fight her. Well he is so fight back! an unwanted voice in her head added. Aniu sighed, she would have to kill Hachi if she wanted to survive the only problem was he was a far better fighter then any other wolf or dog she had fought so far. Aniu jumped sideways as Hachiko lept at her while she was unaware. Now she quickly spun around and sliped underneath the tall wolf and sunk her teeth into his soft underbelly. As Aniu ripped a chunk from his underbelly Hachi yelped and tried to run to the other side of the arena making things worse for him since Anius' jaws were clenched tightly on his flesh, tearing more fur and skin off his body.

Infuriated at the young wolf Hachiko rolled onto his back forcing Aniu to reklease her jaws from Hachikos' belly. Before Aniu had time to make her next move Hachi flew at her again and all Aniu knew after that was pain and the sight of fangs and blood as well as the sound of snarling and yelping. Aniu closed her eyes. She was done for she hoped that Fang would find another mate, "I love you Fang". She wispered to herself.

Hachi saw the wolf close her eyes. She was done. The he heard her whisper and he doubled his attacks wanting to go to his cage and sleep. He paused as he caught a familiar scent. Hachi turned his head toward the source and there on the other side of the gate was Quincy. Hachi snarled at his long time enemy and leapt over the wolf to slam his body into the gate. Quincy laughed, "you can't get me from over there Hachiko. How about you end this fight against your so called friend so we can all get some quiet and go to sleep." Hachi looked over at the white wolf, friend? he thought sceptically and then it hit Hachi. "No." He whispered, "Aniu!" Fang ran toward her and nuged her with his nose.

Aniu wondered why Hachi had stopped attacking her. Aniu layed down on the ground after all he would be back and she was too weak to stand anymore. Aniu closed her eyes again but re-opened them when she heard her name called and felt a nudge on her face. "I'm so sorry Aniu." Aniu raised her head toward Hachiko and attempted a smile but failed so she layed her head down again.

When Aniu put her head down again Hachiko turned twoard the gate. The humans could see in their behaviour that they weren't going to fight anymore, so they were entering the cage to put Aniu to sleep and take Hachi to his cage. Hachi was debating to attempt a plan he had in mind and was murmering in mexican (his mother taught him mexican XD). Hachiko decided to try his plan and bloted under the humans legs into the dog holding area. The dogs and wolves around him began saying things likie, "Save us Hachiko!.", "Have i told you lately your my fav wolf?", "Set us free brother!" and other sentences. Hachi ran to a wolfs' cage that was difficult to get to and tried to nuzzle it open but failed so he grabed the latch with his fangs and yanked the bolt free. He did the same to as many cages as he could and others followed his example. The men were confused and couldnt catch the canines. Hachi turned around to see Quincy before him. "One shall rise and one shall fall." Hachi said. "Yes you will fall." Quincy spat back, then he lept at Hachiko.

Fang was running ahead of the others. As soon as he got back Fang discovered that Lyall had decided to move the pack then and there he bolted ahead of the pack to get a head start. Now the fights were only a few miles ahead of them.

Soon Fang and the packs saw the fights' building come into view. From the outside it looked like a farm home made from the same materials as factories with the woods barely giving enough space for a small front yard. Inside there was a sloping staircase that led to the dogs cages. Fang glanced at Lyall who nodded solemly at him. It was time for Fangs' sorrow to end. He snarled and lept off his hind quarters and ran for the small entry that was- for some odd reason, not locked. The packs were surging behind him snarling and barking angrily. Fang led one of the smaller packs off to where benches overlooked an arena. The men were too interested in the current fight and were cheering too loud to notice anything. Then the pack was upon them snarling and riping at any piece of flesh they could grab. Fang looked around men and wolves to see a strange looking wolf versing a husky. Fang would come back to see the result of this but first he had to find Aniu. So he darted toward a staircase behind him and jumped over all the steps, landing on the floor with only the swish of his tail on the wood.

Aniu didnt have the strength to fight the man who was carrying her or his compainion so she waited for them to kill her. Aniu heared Fang's growl and whispered, "They finished me qiuckly.Fang also." then Aniu felt herself fall to the ground and opened her eyes. Fang was ripping apart the man who was carrying her. Aniu forced herself to get up and lunged pathetically at the other man. Aniu fell and saw the man pull out a small knife as he hovered over her. The man gave a cry and blood dripped down his neck, falling onto Aniu's white fur. Fang snapped the mans neck and came to stand by his mate, "Aniu..." was all he mumbeled as he dove his muzzle into her fur, "My Aniu." He felt Aniu's tears soak his neck. Suddenly the white wolf stilled and Fang looked up in confusion. Aniu looked like she was in a trance as she said, "Hachi... He-He's fighting Quincy and he's weak." Fang remebered the dog and wolf in the arena and toled Aniu to staywhere she was. Fang spun around and ran toward the arena.

Everywhere the black wolf looked there was blood, fangs, screams and guns. Fang lept over a dead wolf and continued on to the arena. Fang pulled the bolt back from its loose latch. It was a bad quality lock and was easy even for a pup to open since the gate was a little bigger then dog size. Fang pushed the gate open with his shoulder and walked calmly into the arena, comlpetely at home with the fighting and the threat of death. Fang snalred at the husky who had pinned the wolf- hachi, he geussed, and was ripping at his underbelly. The husky stepped off of Hachi, mouth dripping blood, "What do you want ferrel brat." Fang snalred in relpy, "Are you the one who attacked my mate?" The husky laughed, "No you should thanks Hachiko here," he pushed one paw onto Hachi's chest, "For that. I did however corner your precious mate, pin her to the ground and stick-" Fang knew what the husky was going to say and was enraged so he lept at the dogs throat and ripped a massive chunk of fur and skin off of his neck, leaving little skin left before the bone. Before Fang could get a good grip on it's neck the dog spun uder him the turned and jumped on Fang's back.

At the same time Aniu wondered what happened to the grey pup. She got up and went to Quincy's 'cage' to find it. In an actual cage next to Quincy's dog bed was the pup. Aniu opened the cage with her fangs and picked up the pup. She trotted out of the building, stumbling and bleeding which didnt surprise the other wolves considering what was happening, and let the pup go when she reached the forest. The pup's life was in the forests care now. Aniu walked back to the dredded building and collapsed at the entrance.

Fang struggled to get the dog off his back but to no success. Fang rolled on his back, dropping all of his weight onto the finer boned husky. The husky let go and Fang jumped on it, ripping at any flesh he could. Fang stoped and stood over the dog, "You will die in shame you pathetic dog, you have forever shamed your race." Fang snarled and the last thing the husky saw was white fangs flashing in his face and massive jaws with blood on them. Fang got off the wolf and licked his muzzle. Blood for blood, for Fang had no doubt that the dead dog had killed many of his brothers of the forest. Fang nudged Hachi who struggled to get up. Once the brown wolf was beside him Fang ran to find Aniu. He smelt she had left the building and followed her scent. He found her at the doors sleeping the sleep of the injured and exhausted so he left her and Hachi there to find Lyall. The she wolf was looking for someone and was running around asking wolves things. By now all the men were dead and the wolves and wolf-friendly dogs were talking happily or licking wounds with joy in their hearts. A brown wolf with piercings and a moehawk saw him pass by and wispered to a wolf beside him, "Battle Fang..." Fang was confused, had he got his name mixed up?

Lyall couldnt find her brother anywhere and was in panick. What if he had gotten killed? Lyall had asked others who had been in the dog fights if they had seen her brother but they all said it was every wolf or dog for himself in the fights and didnt know anything. She saw Fang approach her but she didn't hide her worry, "Hey. Whats wrong?" Lyall looked at him, he had only a few cuts and bites which surprised her for she would have thought Fang would do more fighting then anyone else, "Did you do any fighting?" she asked avoiding his question. Fang replied, "Of course. Walk with me." Fang started walking over to a white wolf who Lyall assumed was Aniu. Her heart missed a beat as she saw the brown wolf beside her, she didnt believe what she was seeing and could only whisper, "Hachi?" The brown wolf raised his head exhausted then his eyes widened and a weak grin broke out on his face, "Lyall.." Lyall ran up to her brother and licked his face, "My brother..."Fang layed down next to Aniu and watched Lyall and Hachi engulf themselves in sibling love. Fang licked Aniu's ear as she had woken up when Fang and Lyall approached. Many other wolves had gained back their friends and family.

Fang and Aniu were at Lyall's den when Hachi and Lyall cam to say goodbye to Fang and Aniu. Many of the wolves and dogs who had seen Fang fight and his devotion to saving Aniu had started legends about how Battle Fang had fought for his mate, and how he and Aniu would be together even after death. Lyall came up to Battle Fang and looked him in the eye, tears threatening, "Why must you go? You could become a pack member." Fang answered, "Aniu and i want to travel Lyall, we want to be free and mabe even start our own pack." Fang looked at his mate and smiled. At the same time Hachi was saying preety much the same thing to Aniu. Aniu licked Hachiko and smiled, "We will visit, especialy since were going to move around allot. If we do settle in one spot we will still visit." Hachi and Fang said their goodbyes to one another, Lyall and Aniu did the same.

Battle Fang and Aniu trotted into the cave beside the cliff. It had been their den for about a month now.The two wolves had been travelling for a year or so by now. Aniu moved closer to Fang, she was in season but somehow Fang hadn't noticed. She licked his ear and he looked at her then licked her back. Fangs world became all white and thats all he thought about for some time that night. This went on for about a week until Aniu started sleeping more and more. She needed more food too. Battle Fang had no idea she was pregnant he thought she was just temporarily sick. Aniu knew better of course. When Aniu saw Fang's confused look at her large stomach she asked, "Fang, do you know whats happening to me? What you will be." Fang shook his head so Aniu sat up, "I'm.... pregnant Fang. Your going to be a dad." Fang was shocked, he hadn't thought about pups at all.

Fang looked at the one white pup, unsure what to do. It yelped and his ears pricked higher. He dropped his head to the pup and touched its nose with his. Aniu was glowing with pride and she nuzzled first the pup, then Battle Fang, "What will we name it?" she asked. Fang thought for a minute then replied, "Isis." Aniu liked the name but she still had to ask, "Why Isis?" Fang looked at the pup as he replied, "Isis is the greatest female god in the egyption mythology. She is the daughter of my god and is a god herself." Aniu smiled down at Isis as she sat in the cave.

Fang carried Isis in his jaws as he and Aniu papped along to find a new place to stay for awhile. Suddenly Aniu stopped, mid-step, and sniffed the air. Aniu's heart rate sped, "Humans and dogs. We have to run!" Aniu and Fang bounded away like whosts as if they had never been there. The only proof that the had been was their scent. Dogs howled and fought to get a sniff at the wolves scents. The continued on when they were ready. The two wolves began climbing up rocks. Fang slipped on a loose one and fell back onto the ground while trying to keep Isis from getting hurt. Aniu spun around and saw the dogs bound toward her mate. She ran down to the rocks to land beside him and snalred at the dogs, "Aniu, go, take Isis." Aniu shouted straight away, "NO! I wont leave you Fang." Fang put the pup between his paws and growled at the infurianting, yapping hounds and beagles. They were starting to sirround Aniu. Fang barked at the dogs then picked up Isis and ran, trying to get them away from Aniu.

Aniu saw most of the dogs go. While she was looking after Fang as he ran a hound lept at her and grabbed her throat. Aniu flung him off but more dogs lunged at her. Aniu was brought down by their weight. The dogs cleared and Aniu found herself looking into the barrel of a gun.

Fang heard the gunshots and his heart missed a beat. A piercing whistle came to his ears and the dogs ran away. Fang turned and went back to where he had seen Aniu last. He howled at her but Aniu didn't stir. Tears streaked his face. He turned and ran to find a safe place. Fang ran for the rest of the afternoon and through the night. He stopped when he found another cave near a waterfall. He put down Isis and howled, and howled. He stopped and curled up around his pup. When his sorrow had only ended a short time ago, it had come straight back.

Battle Fang's sorrow was beginning all over again....
