Balto (The
Revelation)
Chapter 6 – Reinforcement
“Oh, Balto…” Boris started to panic, “We’re death now.”
“Calm down, Boris…” Balto replied, looking his friend at
his back, “We’re not death yet.”
“But, we will…” Boris continued.
There were none to say about their situation, except they
were facing big danger right now. Slowly, their enemy, an unknown white wolf,
walked closer to them. Balto began stepping back until he could feel something
stopped him, a cold and dark dead end at narrow alley. The white wolf then
followed him to stop, ready to unleash his final attack.
“This is your end…” he started, “You better say goodbye
before…”
“STOP IT!” a voice suddenly cut off.
The white wolf then just smiled, knowing whose that voice
was. Without looking back, he still gazed at Balto. Another white wolf then
appeared from beside of the enemy all of sudden, but the condition of the wolf
itself seemed didn’t well enough. At this rate, she hurt badly.
“Reina!” Balto called worriedly, “Reina, you’re injured.”
“Oh, my…” Boris added, coming after her with Balto, “What
he had done to you?”
Their worries were quite reasonable. The female white wolf
wasn’t white again because her blood had already painted her beautiful furs.
Her sight seemed blurry, even she tried hard to see. Just looking she stood up
was a miracle after what she looked like now. Many deep scratches could be
found easily on her body.
“Balto, leave it to me…” she started, still bleeding, “I
can handle him.”
“But, Reina…” Balto interrupted, worrying her condition,
“You can’t fight him, not in this condition.”
“I’m fine,” Reina replied, “It’s just little wounds.”
“Well, based on my looks. Your wounds are many, deep, and
still bleeding. So, I guess you mustn’t fight. Have rest enough and don’t do anything
that make your life is on edge like him…” Boris explained with his usual style,
pointing at Balto, “How about it?”
“Why you have to point me?” Balto looked silly.
Reina was smiling for a moment. Even she didn’t know well
about Boris, she thought he was kind enough. At least, he knew what the best
thing to do. Her smile then suddenly faded when the white wolf came to after
them. He moved in high speed, leaping toward them.
“I don’t have time for this!” he launched his fangs.
Both Balto and Boris were shocked, never expected to see
this flash attack. Reina who knew it was coming quickly blocked him. It might a
good idea, but not for her. Once again, she was knocked far away just to
protect them. She collapsed at hard and cold ground. Creeping slowly, she
panted hard to stand up.
“You still can stand up?” the white wolf started, “Too bad,
it will be useless.”
“Even it’s useless…” Reina was panting, “I won’t give up…
because give up… isn’t a choice.”
“Reina, hang in there…” Balto pleaded, then turning back to
his enemy, “It’s me you look for. Don’t hurt her more!”
“I would…” the white wolf replied, “If she didn’t insist to
protect you.”
Balto wanted so much to fight back, but he already knew his
enemy was beyond far away than him. Facing directly would be useless caused
meant suicide. For a while, he was hesitated of what to do next.
“Let me end you life quickly, then I’II leave everyone
alone,” the white wolf continued.
“So, at least…” Balto replied, “Can you tell me why you
want to do it?”
“Because you’re son of Aniu…” the white wolf answered,
making his prey fell in shock.
Without any hesitation left, he leapt toward poor Balto. At
this rate, the brown wolf felt the end of his fate was coming quickly than he
thought. He could dodge it, but doing so would let him hurt everyone more. The
time was much slower. Boris just could scream terrified when he had to watch
it. But, it wouldn’t happen because before it came, Luka from nowhere rushed
fast from behind the enemy, jumping to his attack. Instead making collision,
Luka kicked hard the white wolf’s head and flipped back, throwing the attacker
into garbage nearby.
“You!” the white wolf snarled, getting up from pile of
trash, “I thought you’re already beaten by them.”
“You mean those black wolves…” Luka replied, smiling over
him, “Even they are strong, they totally are weak in defense. I have no
difficulty to handle them. Moreover, I realize they’re just decoy.”
The white wolf gritted his teeth. He never thought his plan
didn’t quite work out, never calculating some mistakes might happen. Right now,
he had to face Luka or else, his effort would end in vain.
“Balto, could I ask you a favor?” Luka asked, “Take care of
Reina. I think she needs treatment.”
“Yeah, sure…” Balto replied, looking at her wounds.
Meanwhile he took over the wounded wolf, the enemy began
gazing at Luka. Now, he faced new intruder. He slowly positioned himself, then
pushed forward to Luka suddenly. He swung one of his sharp paw, but missed as
soon as Luka stepped back to dodge it. The grey wolf made a counter, but also
missed as the enemy made his move carefully. Both of them then ran beside each
other, trying to get a new chance to attack.
The fight was still struggling. The white wolf suddenly
took an action. He stopped quickly, launching his paw for once again while
leaping. Luka knew he couldn’t dodge it by stepping back because the enemy
pushed forward. He just stepped beside, hoping he could get a chance to move,
yet it was already predicted. As soon as the white wolf landed, he quickly
continued it by using his fangs. At this point, Luka was surprised to see his
enemy was faster to do a second attack. Knowing he got a little time to react,
he flipped back with all his power, giving high momentum. While at the midair,
he quickly moved his leg, kicking his enemy. It successfully hit.
Luka hit him right on his face, throwing it into pain. The
white wolf then cancelled what he was doing, holding his own face. He shook his
head, trying to get clear vision. He gazed angrily at Luka.
“You will pay for this!” he gritted his teeth.
“Leave now!” Luka shouted, “Or you will have more!”
Before the enemy could harm, his eyes noticed the color
change from the sky. It seemed black changed slowly to blue. The morning was
going to rise any minute left. He gazed at the sky, then back to Luka.
“I’II be back…” he whispered.
Without continuing the fight, he then left quickly. He was
running fast until the image of him disappeared completely. At that time, Balto
was relieved. He believed the danger already passed away. Now, he and the
others concerned for their friend’s condition.
“Reina…” Luka started, moving closer to Reina, “Are you
alright? You hurt badly.”
“I’m alright…” Reina groaned weakly.
“You can’t lie…” Luka replied, smiling over her, “I know
those wounds are pretty rough.”
“Yeah, I guess so…” Reina smiled.
“Well, you two can chit – chat more,” Boris interrupted,
“But I think now is the right time to go back.”
Both Luka and Reina nodded, deciding to agree Boris
opinion. They then walked slowly. Luka had to help Reina walked, and even it
was difficult, Reina tried her best to lean at him. Boris self followed from
behind until he stopped, noticing Balto still stood there. He remained
silently. His goose friend then moved closer to him.
“What’s wrong, Balto?” Boris asked, watching his face, “Are
you hurt too?”
“No, Boris…” Balto answered, “I’m just…”
“Then, what are you waiting for?” Boris suddenly
interrupted, trying to raise up his spirit, “C’mon! Let’s go back!”
“I…” Balto was thinking of something, then motioning to
Luka, “Luka! I need to talk to you!”
Luka stopped in sudden when he heard that. It was quite
surprised to see that the brown wolf yelled to him. He then turned around while
Boris was confused to see his strange act.
“Luka…” Balto spook out, “Please, explain to me… about what
happened lately. I can’t stand being acknowledged.”
“I will explain it…” Luka began serious, “Once we get
back…”
“Okay…” Balto replied hesitantly.
Boris sighed, knowing it was over. He thought back then,
everything would be worse. But actually, he was wrong, and he was glad of it.
Meanwhile he was still thinking, Balto walked closer to Luka.
“May I help you?” he asked.
“Of course, Balto…” Luka answered gladly.
Together, they then helped over Reina. Even the wounded white wolf tried to smile, her smile was beaten by her pain. It was disturbing her, but she had no choice. She still leaned at Luka, trying to move step by step although the wounds were her great obstacles. With some help from Balto, Luka knew he didn’t take too much to bear. But even the atmosphere was already better, yet Balto’s mind was full of question. He then just believed he would get the answer sooner or later, no matter what it took.
