Balto (The Revelation)
Chapter 5 – Attack Of Enemies
“Quick!” a male white wolf ordered to
7 other black wolves behind, “We must get there at night.”
Still in running, the white wolf
rushed through the woods, together with black wolves. At this point, the
surroundings was filled with darkness. None could see clearly because shadows
from the woods overshadowed the creatures inside. But when they got out, the
light from moon lightened everything. The black wolves itself were perfectly
darkened by their furs and eyes, yet the white wolf forward was different. All
of his body was white, except the like diamond – shaped in front head was black
and his eyes were blue.
“All of you!” he continued, looking at
them, “Go first! Do at once!”
Without any doubt, the black wolves
suddenly began pushing forward, leaving their leader behind. The white wolf
then stopped, facing to the moon. He grinned evilly.
“The moon will be ours…” he said.
Slowly, he started to walk again, then
running to catch up with his subordinates. With high confidence, he moved
toward the destination, only leaving a mystery beyond the shadow around.
Meanwhile, Balto was sleeping
peacefully along with his friend, Boris. They had already flied away in their
own dreams. But even they had a good sleep, yet there were creatures that
hadn’t slept yet. At beside the boat, Luka still checked on something while
Reina was on boat, yawning with half – eyes opened.
“If you want to sleep, you can do it
now…” Luka started, looking at Reina.
“Are you sure?” Reina asked, “I still
can stand on for a while.”
“Reina…” Luka called, climbing the
boat, “It’s okay. You can sleep now. Let me guard this place.”
“Okay, then…” Reina smiled, “I will go
to sleep now. If any problem happens, just wake me up.”
“Yes…” Luka replied back, “I will…”
Glancing at Luka for the last time,
Reina then slowly laid down. She closed her eyes, starting to get sleep. The
only sounds she made were her breath that seemed very tired at the day.
Luka just smiled over her, knowing his
friend had done her best. He then glanced over the surroundings, checking for
the last time before he also joined his already slept friend. Slowly, he
scanned around. Even the night casted more darkness, he still could see any
single of movement. But unfortunately, he saw none of it. Thinking everything
was safe enough, he laid down not far from Reina. He closed his eyes, but as
soon as he did, his feeling alarmed him.
Even no sound or no sight came to him,
his instinct was more promising than anything. He quickly walked closer to
Reina, waking her up. He nudged her repeatedly until her eyes opened.
“What’s wrong, Luka…” Reina started,
yawning, “Is there any threat?”
“Yes…” Luka answered, “I have bad
feeling about this. I’m afraid the enemy soon will be here. Wake Balto up now!”
“Okay!” Reina replied back, getting up
quickly then nudging Balto’s head slowly.
“Umm… What’s wrong?” Balto yawned, “Is
it already morning?”
“Not yet,” Reina answered.
“Then, I can continue to sleep now…”
Balto replied, “Good night.”
“Balto, you can’t sleep now!” Reina
nudged hard, “The enemy is here. They are looking for you. You’re in great
danger.”
“What?!” Balto was shocked, “What do
you mean?”
“Did you remember when you were
attacked?” Reina asked, glaring seriously, “They are coming right to you now.”
Balto quickly moved away from where he
had been. Panic suddenly rushed into his mind. He knew he was no challenge for
them. They outnumbered him. While he was thinking, he saw that Boris still
slept peacefully.
“Ugh…”he thought, “How could he just slept like
that?”
“Balto!” Luka suddenly interrupted,
“We need to get out here before…”
“Before it’s too late…” the black wolf
suddenly cut off, coming from nowhere to front of them.
Everybody was shocked to see a black
wolf had already arrived on the boat, followed by another 6 black wolves at
ground below. They never expected they were surrounded quickly. Luka then
positioned himself, along with Reina who ready for the worst.
“Balto, you must run now! Take Boris
with you!” Luka started, still gazing at the enemy, “Don’t worry about them.
We’ll protect you so that they can’t hurt you.”
“Are you sure you can escape easily
from us?” the black wolf snarled, interrupting them.
“I’m absolutely sure…” Luka answered
with high confident, then turning to Balto, “NOW!”
Ready or not, Balto knew he had to
run. He then quickly took Boris at his back without waking him up, making the
poor goose woke in shock. Having no time to explain, Balto rushed to the
outside while taking his friend. He just passed those wolves with Luka and
Reina beside him. Any of black wolf who dared to move closer was ended on
smacked away from that brown wolf. Both of Luka and Reina did a god job by
kicking them out the way, but it didn’t end easily. They still gave a chase, so
Balto didn’t know where to go, but heading right to the town.
“Balto, what are you doing?!” Boris
finally asked, “Why are you running? Why you take me into it?”
“Just see behind me…” Balto answered
while still running away.
“Behind you?” Boris was confused,
looking at his back to see many black wolves chased them, “Balto! You need to
run faster.”
“I tried…” Balto replied, “Now, you
need to be silent.”
“Okay, I can do that!” Boris shouted
in panic.
“Reina!” Luka suddenly interrupted,
“Escort Balto to the safe place! I will delay them.”
“But, Luka…” Reina replied, “You’ll
be…”
“There’s no time,” Luka cut off,
“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”
Reina smiled over him. She was then
leaving him, taking both of Balto and Boris to safe place. But for sure, she
didn’t know exactly where they would go. Balto was on head and he was still
running. Reina didn’t have a choice, but to follow him. While they began fading
away, Luka suddenly stopped. He was quickly breaking his move, turning around
to face the enemies. The wolves then also stopped.
“I can’t let you go further…” he
started.
“You dare to face us!” the black wolf
snarled, “Do you think you can handle us?”
“I think I can,” Luka answered simply.
“Face your death!” the black wolf
shouted, all attacking him alone.
Meanwhile the grey wolf struggled to
fight alone, those who escaped before had been already in town. They looked
behind, thinking they had finally retreated from great danger. Both of Balto
and Reina were exhausted because the sudden running, panting to take air.
“I guess we lost them…” Boris started.
“Think again,” a voice of nowhere
suddenly interrupted.
From the darkness behind, a white wolf
suddenly leapt forward. Balto who didn’t have time to react was luckily saved
by Reina who was pushing him to dodge that deadly attack. Reina then glared at
attacker. He was pure white and had blue eyes like her, but the black color at
his head attracted her sight. That black diamond - shaped seemed to mean more.
“Be careful, Balto!” Reina warned, “It
seems he’s very different than those black wolves.”
“Different?” the white wolf grinned,
“I’m so much different than those slaves. I’m very powerful.”
Reina scanned her enemy carefully. She
actually didn’t know how much the danger he could cause. He even didn’t show
his teeth, making difficult to predict what he was planning for. Reina then
slowly moved closer to Balto, guarding him tightly.
“I think you have to run…” she
started, looking at Balto, “It’s very dangerous to be here.”
“I absolutely agree…” Boris added.
“But, how about you?” Balto asked.
“I’ll be fine,” Reina answered him,
“Trust me.”
Balto nodded hesitantly, ensuring
himself everything was going okay. Slowly, he then walked away from that place
with Boris. As soon as he was far, the enemy was preparing a sudden move.
“I won’t let you…” he started.
The enemy suddenly leapt toward his
victim. Reina who saw it didn’t have a choice, but to fight with all of her
power. She then also leapt, crashing with him in the midair. The intense of it
was so frightening. Balto who could only hear the struggle sounds just wished
Reina was alright. He also wished that Luka would soon come back. For a while,
he was running, leaving as far as he could. When he thought it was already
safe, he stopped. The situation around was dark and silent until a white
creature came out from dark alley.
“Reina? Is that you?” he asked
happily.
Unfortunately for him, it wasn’t her
because when it came out, the moon light revealed the truth. It was his enemy
before. Balto then was shocked to see him, thinking he had beaten his friend
already. Now, it was only a matter of time before he met the same fate.
