Balto woke up one morning with a gut feeling that something out of the ordinary was going to happen. He pondered that feeling with a dream that he recently had. His dream was about going to universal studios for something. He got up to go into the town of Nome. He wanted to check the e-mail he recently set up for Jenna and himself on Rosie’s computer.

He found Jenna’s doggie door and scratched on the door. He waited about five minutes and heard her humans shouting.

“ What’s going on in there?” Balto said

He poked his head through the flap. What he saw was not normal. Jenna was nowhere to be seen but Rosie’s father was looking all over for some thing. Rosie herself was crying about … Jenna! Balto rushed away from the house. He was running when he sensed someone behind him. He turned around to be face and face with Kaltag!

“Kaltag? What’s the matter? You don’t look well.” Balto said in rush barley getting his words out.

“Well, it’s about Jenna. She disappeared last night. Her humans where up all night looking for her.” Kaltag said frowning the whole time.

‘‘Why would she just disappear with out telling anyone?’’ balto asked.

  Kaltag shrugged his shoulders. Balto kept walking with Kaltag at his side. They looked all around Nome. ‘‘Balto, I have to go home and eat. See ya later!” Kaltag said his good bye and left balto all alone on the street. Balto walked up to Jenna’s home one last time for today. He stepped through the doggie door and up to Rosie.

“ Balto, do you know where Jenna is?” Rosie asked him.

Balto looked into her eyes. His eyes where pale and Rosie’s face smelt strongly of tears. He went into Rosie’s room. There in the corner was the computer. He stared typing and clicking unit he found his favorite picture of Jenna. A single tear found a place in his fur. Then he realized that universal studios had e-mailed him. It read:

Dear balto,

      Jenna is here with us disusing why she wants a fourth movie made of you and herself. 

She is getting frustrated and won’t shut up. Please calm her talkative butt down. Oh yeah, she wants to know if you’re okay.

Balto couldn’t believe what he just read. He started barking and making a bunch of racket. Jenna’s humans came rushing in the room and around the computer. They read the e-mail and gasped.

‘’ Since when did Balto get an e-mail address?’’ Rosie asked.

‘’ I don’t know sweetie, but I can’t believe that Jenna’s all the way in California!’’ said Rosie’s mom.

Balto couldn’t wait till he started his journey to universal studios. He was so excited that he couldn’t sit still.

‘‘What is the matter with you?’’ Boris asked.

‘’ Well, Jenna has disappeared and is at universal studios!’’ Balto exclaimed.

Boris had a worried look on his face. His eyes dimmed and his beak was tightly shut.

‘‘Universal studios U.S.A?’’ Boris asked quietly.

‘‘Yeah, what’s wrong?” balto asked Boris.

‘‘Balto, I tell you something. Universal Studios has been taping your life. I am sorry for not telling you this important detail.’’ Boris confessed.

‘’Yeah! I’m a movie star and a hero!’’ Balto said

‘‘You crazy dog!’’ Boris yelled at Balto while Balto was running from the boat.

Balto came into town early morning. He was looking for Kodi. Kodi needed to know where his mother has been. Balto came crashing around a corner as if one year was taken of his life. It had! Kodi saw his father like never before. His gray-brown was brighter and his eyes had a yellowish tint behind the hazel.

‘’ Dad! Are you okay!?’’ Kodi asked his somehow younger Father.

‘‘Yeah, yeah! I feel a whole year younger! Like my first movie!’’ Balto said to his son. Kodi eyed Balto weirdly and looked his father up and down.

‘’What, are you about to criticize?’’ Balto asked in unison.

‘’ What!? Like I would do that to my own father.’’ Kodi said, not believing what he just heard.

‘’Well, anyways Jenna’s in the universal studios building!’’ Balto shouted.

‘’Really! No way!’’ Kodi said.

‘’ Gotta go!’’ Balto said as he left. Kodi had no idea how his dad was acting so weird.

Kodi was with his friends before they had to do a mail run.

‘’ Guys, have you noticed that my dad is acting weird?’’ Kodi asked his friends.

‘’No why?’’ said Dusty.

‘’ Well, on the way here, he was over excited and literally one year YOUNGER!!’’ Kodi stated.

 ‘’ I thought that living things were supposed get older not the other way around.’’ Kirby said

‘’ Me too.’’ Kodi said quietly.

            ‘’ Look guys, I might be a dog but you have to listen to me!’’ Jenna shouted at a director.

‘’ Jenna, you can’t boss me around, I’m the director.’’ Director Paul said.

Jenna couldn’t believe what she just heard. Tears were brimming her eyes and her voice was getting shaky. Her gaze was pointed down instead of looking the stupid director in his emotionless eyes. She got up from her chair and left the room.

            ‘’ Any luck?’’ asked a voice.

            ‘‘What! Who’s there!’’ Jenna shouted.

            ‘’Oh, I’m Cleo’’ Cleo was just a little beagle.

            ‘’I’m Jenna. I’m from Nome, Alaska.’’ Jenna said.

            ‘’ Really! I bet that it is really cold!’’ Cleo said.

            ‘’Not really.’’ Jenna stated.

            ‘’So why are you so far from home?’’ Cleo asked with a curios look in her eyes.

            ‘’ I’m trying to get universal to make a fourth movie for Balto and I.’’ Jenna explained.

            ‘’You mean the wolf-dog Balto!’’ Cleo exclaimed.

            ‘’Yeah, we have six kids.’’ Jenna said.

            ‘’Really!’’ Cleo said.

            Jenna sat on the pavement watching Cleo go away and jump into her owner’s arms. Tears fell and found homes in Jenna’s soft cream fur. She missed Rosie. Then her mind turned to Balto. She should have told him before she left. Guilt washed over her. A couple of male dogs tried to get to her. She wished that Balto were here to protect her in this scary place.

            It was nighttime when Jenna found somewhere to rest. It was a park bench. She found it cozy compared to the hard pavement. She spent the night there. She woke to a large paw poking her.

            ‘‘Hey! Wake up!’’ the voice said.

            ‘’Sorry.’’ Jenna groaned. She flicked her eyes open to see Balto!

            ‘’Balto! How did you know that I was here?’’ Jenna asked.

            ‘‘Universal e-mailed me.’’ Balto answered.

            ‘’ Balto, you look weird. You look like when I first met you. I bet Kodi thought that you were totally going mental. He never saw this way or this strong.’’ Jenna said.

            ‘‘Ha yeah. Jenna, I’m a year younger.’’ Balto said.

            ‘’ Balto, I believe you.’’ Jenna said. She nuzzled him.

            ‘’Jenna!’’ Cleo yelled.

            ‘‘Hey Cleo!’’ Jenna said back. Cleo walked up to Jenna with Balto standing beside her.

            ‘’OMG it’s Balto!’’ Cleo yelled and she went to go get her friends.

            ‘’Balto, I have to tell you something, I’m a year younger too.’’ Jenna confessed

            ‘‘Let’s go in there and show them that we are here!’’ Balto shouted.

`The couple walked into the room where Director Paul was sitting. His emotionless eyes were following Balto and Jenna around the room. Balto felt a chill run up his spine. He glanced over at Jenna, her ears were held back as if she was in fear. He pressed his body closer to hers.

            ‘’Who is this guy?’’ Balto asked Jenna.

            ‘‘He’s Director Paul.’’ Jenna answered.

            They sat in there for hours talking and listing. Balto got bored after about five hours and went outside to do some stuff. Why doesn’t that director listen? I think that he’s a robot. He felt a smile go across his face. He almost made himself laugh.

            ‘’Crap that stupid director and his emotionless eyes!’’ Balto shouted to the sky.

            Just then Jenna came out and was standing at his side. She had a worried look in her eyes.

            ‘’Balto, Paul says that you are the most retarded dog in the world.’’ Jenna said.

            ‘‘What about wolf?’’ Balto asked.

            He nuzzled Jenna and looked up at the stars. He sat and started to sing:

            ‘’ Come on Balto, I know where a cozy park bench is.’’ Jenna said as she walked into a park.

            Balto followed her to the bench. The bench was just big enough to fit Jenna the night before. How could it fit them both? He watched Jenna climb on the bench and squeeze over as far as she could. He gave a little frown and got beside her. They slept there the whole night.

            ‘‘Come on! Wake the…’’ the gruff voice was stopped.

            ‘’HEY! YOU LEAVE THEM ALONE!’’ said another voice. This time it was female. Balto woke up to see Jenna’s red fur in his face. She was still. Balto lifted his head up. There in front of him were two people.

            The man was tall and had brown hair. The girl was blonde and her long hair was in a ponytail. They were both in long white lab coats.

            ‘’ J-J-Jenna, let’s get out of here!” he barked.

            “I here ya’’ Jenna answered.

             The two dogs jumped over the back of the bench and ran into a very dark ally. Behind them they could here the humans yelling at each other.’’ I told you that it wasn’t polite!’’ yelled the girl. ‘’Look, we were told to do that. You know, study the nighttime habits of dogs then see how they react to a certain words for waking up!’’ screamed the man.

            Balto and Jenna walked back to Nome that day. Their coats were covered with snow. Balto lifted his muzzle up and howled into the wind once the couple was on the outskirts of Nome.

            In the town, all the dogs were just barley awake from their sleep.

Kodi, Kaltag, Star, Nikki, Kirby, Ralph, Boris, and Dusty were the only ones wide awake and alert to the sound of Balto’s howl.

            ‘’Balto’s back!’’ all eight yelled. Balto and Jenna were walking through the town when the eight got right beside them. They walked up to Jenna’s house. Rosie was standing in the doorway.

            ‘’I knew you would go get her!’’ the little girl said, excitement was clearly in her voice. The whole town was back together again and all was peaceful. Or was it?
