Part 2

Balto trotted up to Daisy and stared into her eyes. "What are you doing here?" he asked.

"I didn't want you to get hurt." Daisy replied.

"Okay I guess you can come." Balto said.

Daisy smiled and licked Balto's ear.

Balto and Daisy walked through the woods. Finally the moon came out and the sky turned to dark blue.

Suddenly a tribe of wolves leaped out of the shadows. The leader snarled and clawed at Balto's fur. Balto jumped back and growled.

Daisy's eyes widened. She jumped onto the leader's back and bit his scruff.

Finally the tribe gave up. "I'm Running and this is my tribe." the leader said looking back at three small wolves.

Running bowed than said "Please forgive my appearance."

Daisy was confused until she noticed one eye on Running.

It would be rude to ask, but she did. "Why do you have one eye?"

Running blushed and his fur bristled. "A fight. A fight over survival."

Tears filled Daisy's eyes. Running shook his head and sighed. "It's okay." he said. "You can stay with us for a while." he continued happily.

Daisy gulpled. It was time for Balto to speak.

"I guess we can stay but we have a journey waiting for us." he said.

Running rolled his good eye. "You don't want to stay with us do you?"

Balto thought. "Yes. We'll stay."

Running sighed as if to shout with joy. Running also knew that he had some secrets hiding up his sleeve.
