Previously on Avatar Wolf: (Stuff that never happened in my books)
Quynan sighed. She turned, smiling at her friends. A group of many wolves stood behind her. In front, was a large fleet of firenation ships, but they were all hers. Apri and Isis's childhood friends had found them and they were joining them on the Fire Nation Invasion.
Also, friends they had made along the way. The Duke and pipsqueak were found once again, along with the Swampies and the Inventor with his son Taeo.
They struck against the Fire Nation, but..they were found out. It was inveitable that the Fire Nation knew about the Day of Black Sun. Even though they knew, the Avatar group still fought and took short control of the Fire Nation.
But, when Quynan went to fight Lord Ozai...he wasn't...there. He was inside a bunker.
They lost time when Quynan was side-tracked by Azula. Azula had captured her sister and Azula bought the Fire Nation time, by distracting them from finding the Fire Lord, but Zuko found him first.
Zuko told his father the truth and he left the Fire Nation to join the group.
It took Zuko many tries to try and persuade the group to let him in, but Wyvren, Seader and Apri and..Isis weren't that happy with it and still didn't like Zuko.
They finally agreed that Zuko needed to teach Quynan firebending and it was the only way since Iroh was captured once more.
Now, it was time for Quynan to be taught firebending.
CHAPTER 14: The Firebending Masters
title (c) Avatar The Last Airbender
Zuko stared in at Quynan from the entrance of the cave. It was nearly dawn. The night was fading and the best time for firebending. He watched the sun begin to rise over the cliffs. He looked back at Quynan who was still sleeping, and he looked cautiously at the large black mountain sleeping beside her in a curled up ball.
He walked in and gently shook Quynan, trying not to wake Wyvren, who snored lowly beside her. He gulped and shook her a little more rougher. He jumped when he Wyvren's low growling voice.
"What are you doing?" Wyvren hissed lowly, trying not to wake his sleeping female. He glared Zuko with pure hate, not knowing why Quynan let him join the group.
"It's time for her to be taught firebending." Zuko hissed back, with the equal amount of attitude toward Wyvren, that Wyvren showed him. But, for Quynan's sake and the others..he tried to lose it, but Wyvren always refused to make him feel welcome.
Wyvren growled and layed his head back down without another word. He nudged Quynan gently and she woke up.
Zuko looked confused and looked down at Quynan. "It's time to wake up. We've got some training to do." he told her and backed out of the cave and waited for her outside, just as the first morning rays poured onto his bright brown fur, making his eyes glow like the rising sun itself.
Quynan walked out of the cave, still half-asleep. She finaly woke up as the bright sun rays hit her dark grey eyes. She winced and finally came out and sat by Zuko, who was warming himself up by the sun. His eyes were shut and breathed out heavily through his nose.
Wyvren couldn't help, but poke his head out of the cave as he watched Zuko look at Quynan try to train her about firebending, but...
When Zuko tries to firebend, nothing about, but a small whip of a candle flame. Quynan blinked. Zuko growled and tried again, but still nothing happened. Zuko growled and tried once more, but the flames form his paw seem to blow rasberry at him. He hung his head and looked up at Quynan.
"Maybe...that you lost you firebending power because...your whole life...your fire was fueled by your rage..and hunting the Avatar. Maybe, because you changed sides you lost it..maybe you need to find a new modivation. She looked back, hearing Wyvren.
"Darn, and I thought you'd be helpful. Oh well, now how you going to get rage back?" he snorted with a smile. "It shouldn't be that hard to get you angry." Wyvren had no fear and strode toward him and started to poke him with his paw. Wyvren laughed and walked around him and continued to poke him again and again..and again..and again.
"THAT'S ENOUGH!!!" Zuko yelled at Wyvren, glaring at the older and much larger male. "Obviously its not working.." he growled, his eye twitching frustrated more than ever now.
"Maybe, you need to find the first firebenders." said Toph stroding over to the other, woken by Zuko shout at Wyvren. "The first earthbenders were the Badgermoles; that's how I learned."
"Of course! The first airbenders were the Skyeagles. That's how the Air Nomads learned." Quynan exclaimed.
"That's all very well, but..the first firebenders were the Dragons..and their extinct." Zuko said nonchalantly.
"I know of a sacred firebending temple, maybe we could find some inspiration for you there." Quynan told Zuko, looking over at him.
"Okay, we can try.." he huffed.
Wyvren blinked and narrowed his eyes. He watched Quynan head off toward the temple, Zuko right behind her. "Hey Zuko!" he called. "If you don't find any inspiration, you can just leave us!" he called.
Zuko ignored Wyvrem and walked off after Quynan. He smirked and touched Quynan's tail with his playfully, and glanced at Wyvren without turning his head.
Wyvren growled, but Toph put a pillar into his face just as he was about to jump at Zuko.
"You two are, children." Toph rolled her eyes and walked back into the cave.
Wyvren rubbed his flat nose. "Ow.." he growled and walked after Toph with one more look at Zuko and Quynan. He growled and and went back to bed...
-------------------------------------
"Do you really think we'll find Dragons?" Quynan asked.
"I highly doubt it..." Zuko sighed as they headed to a large building. They had just dodged many booby traps.
"Why?" she asked questioningly.
"Because, my grandfather had put them into extinction, not wanting any competion. He wanted to be the best firebender ever." he explained. "My uncle slayed the last dragon..." he frowned, losing all hope...
Quynan sighed and looked around as they entered the tomb. All around, in a circle, were statues of wolf anthros. They all had different poses.
Zuko stayed in one place and studied them. As for Quynan she walked all around, staring at the statues, they seemed to lead to one to the next.
As she walked, she stepped on one tile and it sank into the ground. Quynan yelped and leaped backwards, ready for a trap to spring. Nothing happened and Zuko looked back at her with a cocked brow. Quynan smiled sheepishly. She looked back at the statues and smiled, she ran at Zuko and grabbed his tail and tugged him back. "Zuko! I want you to dance with me!" she exclaimed.
"WHAT?!" Zuko yelped and snatched his tail away from her.
"No, look, these statues are a firebending form! Come on!" Quynan barked and stood a stance.
"Fine." Zuko snorted defeatedly. He went to his anthro form, as well as Quynan.
As Quynan moved her left leg back, her foot stepped on a tile, the tile sunk into the ground. Zuko did the same and felt the tile sink. He blinked and followed the statues till both Quynan and him faced each, their knuckles toward eachother above their heads.
As they did this. Something moved in the middle of the statues. Quynan approached it, followed by Zuko.
A stone pillar rose, with a golden egg at the top. Zuko reached toward it. "Hey! Don't touch it!" Quynan exclaimed. "The thing is probably rigged with a trap!" she barked and tried to catch Zuko, but it was too late. He had lifted the egg from its pedistal. Suddenly it sprayed a pruple gook and Zuko was thrusted onto the ceiling into some cell bars. He was stuck and couldn't get free.
Quynan yelped as the door slammed shut and she jumped up, trying to get Zuko unstuck, but the sappy liquid touched her fur and she was stuck alogn with Zuko. "Do something, before we drown!" Quynan yelped.
"I can't move!" Zuko shouted. Soon, everything went black.
-----
"So, what are you doing here? Why were you trying to steal our precious treasure?!" hissed a black wolf with white markings. A group of them with different markings stood behind the larger one.
"We weren't trying to steal your treasure, sir. I'm the avatar and I've come to learn firebending, because my friend here, needs to learn from the Master Firebenders." Quynan explained.
"You will be judged. You must climb that mountain, where you will meet the masters. But, you must hold onto a flame from the ancient fire. If you can hold onto that flame, you will be judged, but if not...You will be struck down." the male hissed.
Quynan and Zuko were lead to the top of tomb and they were each give a flame. Quynan took it heistantly, she could the feel the warmth rush through her paws and she chewed her lip. "You must reach the peak of the mountain before sun down." said the elder.
Zuko Quynan went off toward the mountain. Quynan was falling behind, trying to keep her small flame alive.
As they reached the top of the mountain, they each looked toward a large cave. The sun began to set beside them. As it did a wind blew, catching Quynan's flame and whipped out. She yelped in surprise. "How are we supposed to take these Masters if they turn on us?" she asked.
"We're the Fire Prince and the Avatar. I'm sure we can take them." Zuko winked.
Quynan sighed and gasped as two large Dragons; one red, the other blue, poured out of each of the caves. "Still think we can take them?" Quynan whispered.
Zuko quickly hushed her.
Quynan watched the Dragons dance around them. "Zuko,....I thinkt hey want us to dance with them.." she whispered.
Quynan and Zuko did the form they were taught by the statues, the Dragons following each of their movements.
As they finished, the Dragons crouched on each side of the mountian. Then, both Dragons blew out fire. It swarmed around Zuko and Quynan. The fire was a beautiful rainbow.
Zuko watched the colors. He whispered: "I understand."
At that Dragons finished. They retreated into the their caves, disappearing.
Zuko and Quynan walked down the from mountain and they leaped and a fire wave crossed over the land. Zuko and Quynan smiled.
"Now that you know our secret...we must kill you." said the troop leader as the group approached.
Zuko and Quynan automatically went into a defence stance, but the leader howled in laughter. "No, we won't kill you, but you mustn't tell our secret..Or we will!" they hissed.
---
Quynan and Zuko finished their form. Quynan and Zuko looked up as Wyvren spoke.
"That's a nice dance." he smirked at Zuko.
"It's not a dance! It's a sacred firebending form!" Zuko shouted, stalking up to Wyvren angerily.
"Oh, really? Than what is this "sacred form" called, hm?" he asked with a cocked brow.
Zuko went silent and lowered his ears, shutting his eyes and frowning. "The Dancing Dragons.." he whispered....
Chapter 15: Boiling Rock Part 1
title (c) Avatar The Last Airbender
Zuko opened his eyes. He sighed. He looked around. The was dark and silent, only low snores were heard, some mostly from Wyvren, who was sleeping by himself in the corner. Zuko was confused...Quynan usually slept with Wyvren. He sat up and turned, he realized it was nearly dawn, the night fading slowly.
Zuko yawned lowly and stretched him. He looked at the group. Apri slept with Isis and her pups. Taeo and Haru...Toph..Seader..Wyvren. Except for the pups...they all made a powerful pack.
He turned away and walked out of the den. He stopped and scented the crisp cool air. He noticed some foot prints on the ground. He looked around, and at the top of one of the upside down air temples, was Quynan. She had sweat trickling down her forehead..she had obviously been practicing her bending moves.
He smiled widely. Quynan had master water, air, earth and almost fire. Quynan...was almost a full-fledged Avatar. He had no doubt in his mind that Quynan will defeat his Father and bring Peace to the World...but..what after that? What will happen to her when all of this is done?
He had just now realized, how old Quynan was...112 years old....Would she have enough strength to hold on after the Final Battle? He shook his head. Quynan had been in worse situations..she survived the attack when Azula shot her in the back...Though she had serious damage done..she lived.
He smiled, he knew Quynan would survive and pass on regularly. Zuko found a way to climb up near Quynan and he sat down beside her. "What's on your mind?" he asked her.
Quynan turned her head and she looked at him. "Just..about the captured people in the Fire Nation...I think..." she hung her head, she knew it was too dangerous and she didn't want to put her friends in danger.
"I'll see ya later.." Quynan leaped from the building. She headed back into the cave.
Zuko looked thoughtful. Quynan had a point...They should try and free the prisoners. He immediantly thought about his Uncle Iroh...He remembered he had freed himself from the cell the Fire Nation kept him in, but it was easy to know that they wouldn't keep benders in a place like that...
They'd probably keep them somewhere isolated. He smiled, knowing exactly where they were. He jumped down and headed into the cave.
Everyone was already awake. Quynan turned and stared at Zuko as he ran up.
"We should go and free the prisoners!" he exclaimed. "I know where they will be holding them...We could free them and then get ready for the Final Battle!" he shouted excitedly.
Wyvren growled under his breath, but was quickly silenced as Quynan looked at him.
"We should free them, but...we'll need a plan first..We can;t just barge into cell and expect that the guards will eaisly step out of our way. We should plan it step by step." Quynan said slowly.
Zuko sighed. "We should, but not long because who knows long they'll keep them there. How about this, I'll tell you where it is and go to the place and we'll meet eachother. I get everyone free from their cells and bring them where they can all be picked up." Zuko explained.
Quynan cocked her brow. "Your eager aren't you?" she asked almost chuckling.
"Yes." Zuko admitted.
"Or maybe, you're just eager to back to the Fire Nation and your daddy." growled Wyvren.
Zuko sneered, but lightened as Wyvren was punched by Toph. "Be nice!" Toph hissed at Wyvren.
Wyvren flicked his ear and went silent.
"Very well, Zuko. Tell us where this holding block is and we'll meet you there in two hours." she told him.
Zuko nodded and explained to Quynan where this cell was.
Quynan nodded and Zuko ran out of the cave.
"You sure we can trust him?" asked Seader, sitting by Quynan.
"Yes, I know I can trust him." Quynan urged. "We'll lets get to planning." said Quynan and they all circled around and began to chat about some ideas.
----
Zuko walked out of the cave and went to where the Fire Nation air balloon was. He untied it and quickly hopped in as the balloon began to rise.
Suddenly he saw a large figure dash out of the shadows and toward the hot air balloon. He thought for a second the Tin-man had survived. Zuko growled and got ready to shoot some fireballs, but the figure soon leaped into the balloon effortlessly.
Zuko was about to attack, but froze. A large grey wolf with familar friendly ember eyes looked down at him. "Uncle Iroh!" Zuko yelped and hugged his buff uncle. "How did you know I was going to be here?" he asked and looked at him as the balloon got off of the ground.
"I saw you leave the Fire Nation after the avatar. I knew what you did. I know that you left the Fire Nation to join the Avatar and I knew that the Avatar would come here." Iroh grinned at his nephew.
"You're going to help me free the prisoners?" asked Zuko.
"Well, I didn't come here to watch." laughed Iroh.
Zuko nodded and flew the balloon toward the small iron island that was the holding cell for the benders. He landed the balloon behind the iron cell walls and he leaped out along with Iroh, who helped tie the balloon down.
"We might need more than this balloon to free the prisonars." said Iroh. "I leave and go steal more hot air balloons." he said and untied the balloon and was off. "I'll be back in time!" he called and ft Zuko alone.
Zuko nodded and ran off to find the entrance, but stopped. He backed away, already seeing a guard coming his way. He growled and got ready to pounce. Just as the guard turned Zuko attacked him and knocked him out. Zuko took his clothes and placed them on, so now he could bled in.
Zuko turned the corner calmly and looked around. It was a good thing these guards wore helmets, or the disguise would be useless because of his scar. He walked into the gates and looked around. There were at least 5 stories, filled with cells and hallways that led into more cells.
"This might take a while.." he mumbled and ran up the stairs to the first story of cells.
Chapter 16: Boiling Rock Part 2
Zuko turned and stared into the darkness of the cell blocks. He could see a lot of prisonars..He knew he would have to take out a lot guards to get all these people out. As he walked by the next cell, he froze, spotting a familar face in the soft glow of the gloomy cell. There, in the corner was Kit, Quynan's sister who had been captured later off by Azula.
Without even knowing..Zuko had fallen for Kit, but didn't want to say anything since there was still a wall between him and the others and didn't want to start a riot between the Avatar's group. "Kit!" he whispered harshly.
Kit looked up at the metion of her name. Kit couldn't see past Zuko's guard mask. He soon took it off and she narrowed her eyes. She didn't know that Zuko had joined the group and she still thought he was an enemy.
"Kit, I know it's weird, but I'm with the Avatar now...I swear it!" he persisted as she turned her head away from him. Kit sighed and looked back at Zuko.
Zuko smiled. "I'll be back, don't worry. I will get you out of there." he promised and ran down the hall, scanning the cells..There wasn'r as many prisonars as he thought, but they'd still need a lot of transportation.
-----
Zuko came back, with about ten prisonars behind him. Some of which was Longshot and Pipsqueak. He quickly unlocked the doors and Kit walked out of the cell with a few other prisonars. "Okay, you get out of here and find Iroh, he'll meet ya with some transportation.." he said and ran off to free the rest of the prisonars..
----
Kit lead the party behind her, but as she shot out the door, a hand grabbed the back of her neck and she was tossed to the ground with a yelp.
"How did you get out?!" growled a wicked female voice.
"None of your buisness, wench!" Kit hissed back at Azula and stood between Azula and the prisonars. Kit snarled and ran at Azula. Azula did the same leaped onto Kit, biting her neck. Kit snarled and her eyes glowed brightly and kicked Azula's side and threw her to the ground.
Azula layed there before getting up slowly and painfully. Kit didn't see Azula stand as she went to move the others back toward the other end of the island. She turned to make sure Zuko was out, but saw Azula standing saw sparks curling up her arm. Kit winced and waited for lightening to strike her, but felt none. She opened her eyes.
Lightening struck the cell block above her. Zuko had grabbed Azula's hand and changed the direction of the lightening strike. Zuko glared at his sister and sunk his fangs into her paw and threw her into the ground toward the wall.
"GO!" he shouted and ran off. About twenty or some more prisonars ran after him, Kit leading the others off, where Iroh was waiting for them in a box like thing that lead down the mountain of the cell block.
They all hoped in, Kit leaped onto the roof, Zuko landing beside her and Iroh made the elevator like contraption go down diagonally down the hill into another cell hall, but that one was already empty of prisonars..since Iroh had freed them.
They leaped down as the box stopped. All around them were stolen Fire Nation hot air balloons. They were all soon up in the air and heading back home...
-----
"Kit!!" screamed Quynan and nearly tackled her sister to the ground as she stepped from the air balloon. Quynan nuzzled her sister's chest and chin, whining and whimpering in happiness. She was so happy to see her sister once more...Quynan sat up beaming. "Thank you..Zuko." she grinned widely..
Soon the small group all walked off as they had a feast..maybe their last one...with eachother..
