Aleu walked along the dirt path. She was hunting Caribou for her pack. She kept walking, when all of a sudden she heared a growl and then a yelp. She walked in that direction. As She came up over the hill, she saw A big brown Grizzly bear and a Big black wolf. The wolf looked badly hurt and had claw marks from the grizzly on his muzzle. "Hey!" She yelled at the bear. "Go pick on someone your own size, you big coward!" But the grizzly was not listening. He reared up on his back legs and almost came crashing down on him but Aleu jumped in the way and growled her mighty wolf growl. The bear backed down with a grunt and a sigh. They both watched and waited as the bear left. The wolf was the first to speak after this "Thank you so much for saving me! I must know your name so I can properly thank such a beautiful young lady such as yourself" "My name is Aleu." She Responded, "What is yours?" "My parents named me Phalen. It means "Little Wolf" in Irish Gaelic. Aleu helped Phalen up and they walked on talking about thier family and their life.

Months passed. Winter faded into Spring. It was mating season now and there were many other wolves roaming around the forest looking for mates. Aleu had already found hers, plus she was already pregnant. It was a sunny day in april when she had 10 colourful pups. Phalen trotted back dragging a small caribou carcass with him for his wife and himself. Aleu, grateful that Phalen was being such a big help, smiled and took a leg for herself. But that day wasn't over yet! They still had to name the pups. They had one female black and white, two red females, one light grey female, one dark grey female, a brown female, a black and white male, a grey, brown and white male, a pure black male, and a dark grey male. They chose the name Chosovi for the black and white Female. For the two red pups they chose Shadi and Sayen. The light grey female they called Sitsi and the Dark grey Chumani. The last female they named Winona. For the males they named the pure black one Shiriki, the black and white one Tokala, they tri coloured one Shikoba and the last puppy they named Tasunke.

After a year of hunt training, the pups were ready to go off on their own. But before that could happen, Aleu wanted them, and their father Phalen, to meet her parents back in Nome. They traveled for days until finally they were there. Phalen was a bit worried that the humans might hurt them but Aleu knew these humans and she knew once they saw her they would not hurt them. To let her parents know she was there, Aleu let out a loud wolf howl.

From in the boat, Balto's head shot up. He recognized that piercing howl. "Jenna" Balto whispered, so he wouldn't wake Borris. Jenna was staying with Balto while Rosy and her family took a vacation. "Jenna!" He whispered louder. "JENNA WAKE UP" he finally screamed at the top of his lungs. The majestic red and white husky lifted her head and opened her brown eyes. To Balto's surprise, Borris was still snoring. "What's wrong Balto?" Asked Jenna, very motherly. "Did you hear it?! It was a wolf howl!" He replied. "Many wolves howl around here Balto go back to sleep" Jenna persisted. The howl came again. This time much louder.

Aleu and her family were just outside the boat now.  Jenna's eyes grew wide as she peered over the side of the boat. "Aleu!" She screamed. She leaped off the side of the boat and embraced her daughter. Balto walked shyly behind her. He stared at Phalen. Phalen cowered behind Aleu. "Dad, Mom, I'd like to introduce you to my mate Phalen, and my children." Jenna looked at Phalen. "Pleased to meet you" She bowed as she said it. Aleu took one look around her birth town. She walked around and almost instantly ran into a human. "Hey Everyone, Aleu is back, look at this!" He cried. "This is perfect" said another man "She brought back her family. They can make up their own little team, and Aleu would be the leader!"

One of the men went to get a harness. He slipped it over Aleu's neck and called the others over. The only one who didn't want to put in on was Phalen. But not because of his wolf heritage, It was because he was afraid. "Its OK Phalen" Aleu reasurred him. He timidly slipped into the harness. A Musher attached the sled to the harness leash. Balto and Jenna came over to watch. After the dogs were off, Jenna couldn't wait to get Dingo and Kodi to come see their sister actually running in a harness.

Aleu was running well. As they came up to the first tunnel, Tasunke Tripped over the harness and fell in a heap. All the dogs stopped in an instant. Aleu ran over to him. "Are you OK Tasunke?" She asked frantically. "I think I sprained it" He replied. Aleu suddenly had an idea. Tasunke could ride in the sled with the musher. But she didn't know how to get the musher to do that. The musher rushed over and took a bandage out of his coat pocket. Lucky for Tasunke, the musher was also the resident Veterinarian. He Bandaged up the foot and helped Tasunke get his balance. But he fell over again. "Must of sprained it bad" The musher concluded. He slipped the harness off Tasunke's head and carried the dog into the sled. "Move Along!" He yelled. The wolves were off again. As they neared the finish line Aleu started to howl. With a smile on his face, Phalen also howled and then the rest of the dogs started to howl. Aleu could see the finish line now and she started to sprint.

Dingo's eyes grew wide and Kodi's ears swiveled as they both watched Aleu run around the corner to the finish line. "Mom, I really like it here" said Chosovi. "I think i'm staying here for the rest of my life." All of the other pups agreed. Aleu looked at Phalen and was surprised to see him Laughing. "If its Ok" Phalen said. "I Think I'd like to stay also" Aleu smiled. "Then its settled," She said "Mom, Dad, I found my forever home and this time its for real!"
