Chapter 1

  (Kodi's P.O.V.)

Balto had joined us before departure. I looked behind me, back at Nome. I longed to speak to Dusty but she was mad at me. No. I was mad at her. Why?

Because I had a new feeling around her! Akima be-friended me and Dusty started getting all mad! No. It wasn't her fault. Not Dusty's. Not gentle loving Dusty.

Snap out of it! I thought. Then I heard beating paws behind me.

 I turned around. Dusty!

  "Where ya'll headed?" she asked.

"Rescue Saba," I told her. "Come on!" Dusty didn't object and she joined our group. We continued walking and Dingo pulled me aside.

"Why do you love Akima?" he demanded.

"Love Akima?" I echoed. "Are you mad? She's our aunt for the love of mushers!"

"You act like you do," Dingo growled.

"I don't mean to!" I hissed. "I love Dusty." I didn't mean to say the last part but it was true. Too true. "Akima was alone and I needed a friend becasue I feel wierd around Dusty now. I didn't act like that on purpose. Dingo, look me in the eye. Do you believe me?"

"I," Dingo sighed, "believe you. Now, tell the others."

   I gasped. "About Dusty?!"

"No," Dingo replied, "about Akima you idiot!"

 "Oh," I sighed. "Right!"

"Eeryone, Kodi has an announcement!" Dingo howled. I was shocked.

  "I-er..." I began.

"Oh forget it!" Dingo scowled. "I'll tell them! Kodi does not love Akima."

"Oh, thank goodness!" Akima looked like she was about to start sobbing with relief. So did Dusty.

"I'm sorry, Kodi," Dusty apologized. "I shouldn't have freaked."

"It's alright," I told her. Dusty looked at me, gratefully.

 "Thanks," she whispered.

"Can we continue?" Aleu demanded. I hadn't noticed before but ALeu's eyes were bloodshot!

"Aleu, your eyes!" I cried out.

"I haven't slept well," Aleu told me. "Now coem on!" I nodded and we continued to walk. Then we heard a howl.

I recognized it instantly. "Saba!" I kicked snow backwards, as I propelled myself towards the howl, the others following.

 Chapter 2

 Dingo's P.O.V.

I followed Kodi. Kodi had recognized Saba's voice adn I recognized the huskies. What was his name? Oh yeah, Coy. But he had metioned a father named Coal....

"Good job, son," hissed a voice.

"Thank you father," said Coy's voice.

"They'll come for you, Coy!" Saba's trembling voice growled.

 AKima's P.O.V.

The next word I heard shocked me.

"And you too, Coal," Saba growled. I recognized the next voice.

"That's what little Aniu said isn't it?" Coal's demon voice cackled. Balto and I shot at him.

 "NO!" I howled.

"Daughter," Coal grinned. "And, oh, Balto, Shadow's son, aren't you?"

"i do believ I am," Balto growled. "I can blame you for my mother's death, can't I?"

"I do believe so," Coal said, with mock confusion.

"You stole my time wiht her," Balto snarled.

"How did you do it?" I asked.

"She got in the way. I scratched her up badly and she ended up crawling away to Nome. It was too late of course." I hated the smug look on his face.

"And daughter, this is your brother. I cheated on your mother, Aniu." Coal laughed cruely. "She never knew."

"DIE!!!" I lunged at him, while Balto took Coy.

My claws scrapped at his face, angrily. He howled and bit my paw and I bit his throat.

I stood up, carrying him by his throat.

 "Finish it," wheezed Coal.

"As you wish," I growled. With that, my father's life was at its end.

Balto meanwhile, had Coy in a lock.

"Saba," he said. "Do you wish to-" Saba didn't let him finish. She lunged for Coy's throat.

Father and son died together that day. Ice approached me. We had talked on the way there.

"Akima, I've liked you since we met," he admitted.

"So have I, to be frankly honest," I chuckled.

 Dusty's P.O.V.

I looked at Kodi. "Kodi, I'm sorry."

"It's alright," he told me, reasuringly. "I understand."

"You don't," I disagreed. "I care for you. Like really."

"So do I," Kodi responded, shocked.

 Aleu's P.O.V.

Ya know, soem say ending that are happy aren't true but ours is.

Kodi and Dussty had 2 pups named Honey, Demon, and Butter. Demon was the only boy.

I'll tell you, I have fun every day, poking fun at them, with Akima's help of course. Then, I'd make fun of her and Sea.

Fun, fun. That's basically my life now, when Dusty and Kodi's kids aren't trying to eat my ears off, that is.

Well, I suppose every story has its end. Here's ours.

 For now.

The end!  i'm thinking of doing a companion series or book. tell me if you agree and, if you do, what it could be about.
