I was walking by the lake shore when a hare dashed out from the bush in front of me, 'dang! i could of caught that!' Akela said darting after it. she got in the woods when I heard someone following me.

Pein was watching the female wolf with interest and snarled his bright red eyes glowing. "Lunch" He thought.

Akela stopped where she was, `what was that?` she thought, she turned around and there was a male wolf with bright red eyes, "wh---who are you?" Akela asked standing her ground.

Pein laughed and sat down looking at the she wolf "My name is Pein. I mean you no harm" He said.

"ok, then what do you want? I’m kind of busy here if you hadn’t noticed, I was chasing my lunch," Akela said observing Pein.

Pein laughed "Just not use to seeing another wolf out here" He said getting up.

"well, where are the others? I’m sorry, am I in your territory? I was just hunting for me and my pack, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen you around before, and by the way, my name is Akela." she said relaxing a little.

Pein smirked and shook his head "I don't have a pack. I am just a wonderer" He said trotting off.

"hey! where are you going?! i was just going to ask you um......well......" Akela said trailing off.

Pein looked back at her and stopped "Yes"

"well, since your all alone, would you....would you like to hunt with me or something? you know stuff that friends would do?" Akela said shuffling her front paws, avoiding his eyes.

Pein smirked and walked over to her. "I would be honored"

"well, do you want to hunt or do you just want to go down to the lake and chat?" Akela said taking a couple of steps forward.

Pein shrugged "Up to you"

"well, I have time to spare, why don’t we just go down to the lake," Akela said walking past Pein close enough to touch his flank with her shoulder

Pein nodded and followed.

A few moments later we were laying down by the lake shore, "well, do you have any mates, or family or friends?" Akela asked, "I’m just curious." she said licking her paw.

Pein shook his head "I have a friend. But no mate. Never was asked or got to know someone that well." He said laying his head down.

"that’s too bad, hmm, this summer breeze feels good," Akela said standing up with her front paws in the water, her fur blowing back.

Pein nodded and yawned. His red and orange fur blowing in the wind. "They are all scared of my eyes"

"well, I don’t think your eyes are scary, your perfect the way you are." Akela said with soft eyes.

Pein looked down at his red paws and smiled. "Thanks"

stepping close enough to Pein to feel his breath, "no problem," Akela whispered, sitting down she put her right front paw on Pein's left front paw and smiled.

Pein smiled again and licked Akela's paw.

" you like me don’t you?" Akela said, not moving. "i--i never liked anyone enough in my pack."

Pein nodded "Yes"

Akela smiled again, and put her head under Pein's head, and sat even closer. "I like you too."

Pein smiled and looked at her "Really"

"I wouldn’t lie to anyone," Akela said licking his shoulder, "and I hope you wouldn’t either, well not to me anyways"

Pein licked her nose and then got up "I don't lie"

"good," Akela stood up and smiled, but then frowned again, "but then where will you be? your not in a clan, and you live alone, how will we see each other?"

Pein frowned "I don't know Akela but I can't go without seeing you" He said looking down.

"well, you wouldn’t want to join the clan would you?" Akela said looking in his eyes, "I--if you want I could live with you."

Pein looked at Akela and licked her muzzle "I would love to"

"ok, do-do you want to go now? or do you want to go somewhere else?" Akela asked smiling again

"or do you just want to hang out here a little longer?"

Pein laughed "Lets go"

A few moments later, we were in the middle of camp, "c'mon ill go show you our leader, Jaggedtooth," Akela said trotting toward a log with an opening that has lichen hanging down over the entrance, "Jaggedtooth, I would like to show you our new clan mate, if that’s ok with you," Akela said walking into the opening

"well, hello there, and who is this?" Jaggedtooth asked sitting up, "this is Pein, I met him out in the forest, he would like to become a pack mate," Akela said looking from Jaggedtooth to Pein, and back to Jaggedtooth

Pein stayed behind Akela and whined.

"what’s the matter?" Akela asked, " i know they may not like you at first, but that’s because they need to know you first." she said walking up to Pein and pressing her muzzle into his shoulder,

"well, i can see that you two have already got to know each other, a lot," Jaggedtooth chuckled. “he may join, now off you go,” Jaggedtooth summoned with his tail to leave.
