Author's note:
I hope you enjoyed my first fanfic 'A Wolve's Tale.' This is the second part of the story, so if you havn't read the first, I suggest you do so. The first fanfic may be short but it includes important information. If you have, this is about Siku and Nicole's journey to save the newborn pups...

"...I hope" Nicole said quietly. She may have been confident, but now, she wasn't so sure.
"How far is your mother's den?" Siku asked Nicole, in a worried tone.
"Not even a mile!" She answered confidently.
Nicole grabbed Tikanni by her scruff, while Siku did the same to Suka.
'Goodbye - baby' Siku whispered to himself. A tear went down his cheek, but he stayed strong. Nicole put down Tikanni.
"We also have to bury her." Nicole said sadly.
She again grabbed the cub by it's scruff, while Siku put Suka on the cave floor.
"I'll bury her next to the pup who died at birth." He replied in a sad, and still tone. He grabbed Suka, and Nicole nodded.
They made their way out the entrance of the den.
"Follow me." Nicole tried to say, but she said it clear enough for Siku to understand what she said.
Nicole moved onwards, Siku followed. The den was surrounded by pine trees, but Nicole had been there enough times to memorize the directions to her mother's den.
Nicole and Siku walked for a half an hour, while Siku marked the trees. The two wolves eventually made it, and Nicole and Siku entered the den. Nicole saw her mother, Angel, lying there with three, young pups.
"Hi Nicole, and who is this young wolf?" She asked with a confused look.
"Hi mum" Nicole and Angel muzzled each other.
"Mum this is Siku, Raven's mate. This is Suka and this is Tikanni, Raven's pups." She explained. Siku and Angel greeted each other.
"Where's Raven?" She asked with a puzzled look.
Nicole looked at her mother sadly, Angel's smile turned upside down. Angel could tell something was wrong.
"Mum, she died this morning." She said sadly, trying to hold in tears.
Angel gasped, she started crying. Siku tried to hold in his tears too, Nicole muzzled her devastated mother and Angel's crying settled.
"I can't believe my baby is gone." Angel wailed.
"Mum, I - I mean 'we' have a favour to ask you." Nicole explained, she was hoping the answer to be yes.
"What is it Nicole?" She asked quickly.
"Mum, the cubs need milk. I thought that since you have a few of your own...'
"...You wan't me to take care of the pups for the time being" Angel asked apologetically.
"Mum, I know its a BIG ask, but you're the only hope for these cubs." She explained. Angel thought for a moment...
"OK, but only on one condition: That you come up every day to help me care for these cubs, deal?" She replied.
"Deal! Oh thank you mum, we promise we'll come up every day!" Nicole replied happily, she muzzled her mother.
"I need to bury Raven." Siku whispered quietly to Nicole.
"If you're going to bury Raven, I'm coming with you. I wanna say goodbye properly." Angel explained.
"I'll take care of the pups while you're gone mum," Nicole said sadly.
Nicole laid next to the cubs and said goodbye to Angel and Siku, while they left the den.
"Do you remember the way back?" Angel asked in a worried tone.
"I laid scent markers, so we should be OK." Siku replied confidently.
Siku and Angel made their way back to the den. Angel cried a little while Siku dug a big hole, it took him half and hour. Siku grabbed Raven's scruff while Angel grabbed her tail, and gently pulled her into the hole. Siku and Angel covered Raven with leaves, then they filled up the hole with dirt. Siku then put flowers over his mate's grave, while Angel put her flowers on. They then sat down beside the grave and sobbed, Siku also explained about the pup who died at birth. After a few minutes, they left the area and made their way back to Angel's den.
Nicole was laying down with the newborn pups by her side, she was grooming them. Angel and Siku entered the den, Nicole gave them a welcoming smile. Angel's efforts to give a smile was small, and she started crying. Nicole comforted her mother and tried to calm her down. Angel's crying eventually settled.
"W-when will y-you bring over the c-cubs?" Angel asked sadly.
"We can't wait untill tomorrow, we will bring them over in a couple of hours." Nicole explained.
Angel nodded.
"Okay mom were going now." said Nicole.
She walked over to Angel and muzzled her grief-stricken mother. Siku said goodbye to Angel, and then picked up the cubs and left the den.
30 minutes later...
Siku and Nicole made it back to the den, Nicole layed down with Tikanni by her side, while Siku with Suka by his side. Suddenly, Suka started whining.
"Fatherhood is beautiful, but this isn't" Siku grumbled, Nicole just laughed.
"How about we swap?" Nicole said in a cheeky tone.
So they swaped cubs and Suka's whining settled. Tikanni still remained quiet after all the noise. Siku smiled at Nicole and she smiled back. Nicole put her head down and fell fast asleep. Siku was also tired, so he did the same.
2 hours later...
Siku awoke to find Nicole grooming both pups. Siku got up, yawned and stretched.
"Thanks Nicole. How long have you been up?" He asked.
"Ten minutes." She replied.
"Its time to take the cubs over." Siku said slowly.
Nicole nodded. They both picked up the cubs by their scruff and made their way out.
Half and hour later they finally got to Angel's den, Angel greeted them happily. Siku and Nicole put the pups beside Angel, and the pups sucked very quickly. All wolves smiled, knowing that the pups we going to live after all.
